Well-loved Life Is Strange protagonist Max Caulfield is back, in an all-new murder mystery adventure, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, due out on 29th October for PS5. Developed once again by Deck Nine, the team behind the equally excellent Life Is Strange: True Colors, the release will cast an older Max at university, when her world is turned upside-down due to the sudden murder of her friend, Safi.
The press release explains: “To save her, Max tries to Rewind time – a power she’s not used in years… instead Max opens the way to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive, and still in danger! Max realizes the killer will soon strike again – in both versions of reality. Only Max can Shift between the two parallel timelines to solve and prevent the same murder.”
There’ll be three versions of the game available at launch: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. Of note, the most expensive option will include Advanced Access to Episodes 1 and 2 from 12th October. It’s worth noting, though, that this is not an episodic game: the entire story will be playable from start-to-finish whichever version you buy from 29th October.

The trailer looks good. I'm looking forward to this one
I didn't even realise it was Max until they said so in the trailer. Still, I love me some Life Is Strange — can't wait!
@rusty82 I really like the parallel universe concept. Interesting possibilities.
Had me worried when you mentioned episodes 😅. Definitely no place for the episodic format now (by which I mean episodes being released weeks or months apart)
I love LiS so can't wait for this. Definitely did a double take when they said it was Max though
@get2sammyb agreed. Graphics look superb too.
I'm curious how they'll tie it back to the first game.
I've loved all games in the series except 2. Couldn't get into that after 3 separate attempts
I made a ridiculous little happy snort when I realised it was Max! Our girl's looking goooood!
Loooool funny that the leak that SE would be apart of the Xbox Showcase was just to show this game only smh
It looks great and I didn't even know it was The Max till this article so I'm all in! Also looks like they went with save Arcadia Bay ending although it's too early to really tell.
Always excellent to experience a new Life is Strange Title: I am so excited! Max is such a wonderful character!
The news I didn't realise I needed until I did!
@danzoEX Well they won't be getting the FF7 Remake trilogy until it's finished on playstation, but they didn't even show Visions of Mana which is meant to be coming this year and those FF9 Remake rumours were way off unless it's at the Nintendo Direct.
Really delighted to see this, plus a release date too!
I absolutely love the original Life is strange and Max Caulfield as a character.
Not too sure about this one if I'll be honest tho😅. Although it does look very pretty.
She needs a hi I’m Max Caulfield name tag.
Any word on a physical edition?
Really excited about this. And DontNod's spiritual successor, too
Finally! Max is back. New powers. Paralel universes and murder mistery? Very nice indeed
Wasn’t Max Caulfield in Grease 2
I love it how they evolved her character. I can't wait to play this.
She doesn't even look like Max
Absolutely very very excited for this, WOW, Max is back! I can’t remember being so excited for a game announcement in quite some time. Interested to see if the comics are made cannon and factored in or not.
Doesn't look like Max, but this still looks like a great game. Skipped the past 2 boring looking LIS games but this one seems to have the stuff.
Deck 9 dropped the ball with True Colours and Before the Storm. Cautious about this
One question - where’s Chloe? 🤔
Totally looking forward to this! October is looking to be a good month
I can’t wait to play this. The whole time I was waiting to see Lost Records, but then this came and with a release date. Oh, man, this might top AstroBot for being my most anticipated game this year now.
Awesome!! Excited to play this.
Game of the show for me. I adore these games! Can't wait
Sure life got rough on Max.
Can't wait!!
The game will end with a choice that makes all your previous choices pointless. I despised how the first game ended and its why i've never played another entry.
Oh no, not another one.
I love the Life is Strange series, so I'll definitely be getting this. Great news that we are getting another one.
enjoyed life is strange 1 and before the storm, but clearly there have been too many sequels at this point and the franchise is getting stale. still, might be interesting to see the rest of max' arc. her upgraded design doesn't quite look right, though
@andrix9743
Dead if she saved Arcadia,
Alive if she destroyed the city.
This means even if she sacrificed Chloe they might use an alternate Chloe to get back together.
This also means that Lis 2 was probably in a parallel timeline as they mentioned the destroyed city.
@Randzilla When you start LiS 2 there’s an option to pick the ending you chose in LiS.
Max went through hell and back just to save Chloe, and assuming that in the new game she’s not making an appearance is odd. The plot sounds way too similar to the original only difference are powers and the girl she’s saving. Max and Chloe were together at the end of LiS, together still as mentioned in LiS 2 and in the graphic novel series. Naturally trailer wouldn’t reveal everything or all the cast of characters, I’ll wait and see how it goes closer to release.
