All the way back in 2021, it was revealed that Bluepoint Games was working on something completely original. The Austin-based developer is best known for its stellar remakes in Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) and Demon's Souls (PS5), and so word of this new project had people curious as to what the team could possibly be cooking.
Almost three years later, and we still don't know what Bluepoint's got up its sleeve. The whole thing's shrouded in mystery at this point, but the project is still happening. Head of technology Peter Dalton has provided the smallest of updates on Twitter, where he writes "Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title. Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!"
As is the case with many of the developers under Sony's PlayStation Studios banner, we simply don't know what kind of production timeline Bluepoint is adhering to. All we can do is wait for the eventual announcement.

Calling it an original title may mean they’re working with an existing IP.
Any chance they grew to 2 teams and 1 is working on the original ip and the other on Bloodborne?
Reports are circulating that the game that was reported on 3 years ago is still being worked on.
More breaking news to follow...
Covid messed up their schedule and they also assisted Santa Monica for GOW Ragnarok. So, their game probably still one or two year away.
If its anywhere near the quality of the SotC or Demons Souls remakes then I'm in.
Would be cool if they could make a new game somewhat inspired by their work there
@3Above @UncleByron Okay I know this is huge amounts of copium, but original title could be technically referring to Bloodborne 2. Right? RIGHT?
I'm very happy to hear that I adore these guys and I'd love to see what they could do with something original. I'm hoping it's some kind of Fantasy game but I'm down for whatever again love Bluepoint and wanna support them ^__^
@DrClayman It could, it could...I doubt it but it could
Bloodborne II.
‘Sharpening our skills’
There’s something in those words they’ve used. That’s a very specific addition.
@DrClayman mean that’s the easy pick. They know Fromsoft’s engine and the wording does support it being bloodborne 2. Also probably cheaper to have an internal team like Bluepoint make it vs what how much Fromsoft can charge now for development and also that they probably would rather work on an ip they own vs one owned by a publisher like bloodborne and Sony
Mysterious original title… ominous!
Extremely curious to know whet Bluepoint are working on, potentially the most exciting 1st party studio depending on what it is they're making!
This is the game i'm most itching to see revealed as i love Bluepoint and want to see what they're capable off when its their own game.
My wish…working on a Legend of Dragoon sequel…but then again i have not won the lottery 😓
"we are working on an original title."
It doesn't say they are working on a new ip so it can be an original title like Bloodborne II (co-developed with Fromsoft) right? say right!?
I’m sure there original ip will be great but I’ll take just anything Fromsoft remake-wise you guys are the dons at it… is ‘sharpening there skills’ a hint? Or am I being horrendous 😂
So far the only 3D platform game I’ve played that can throw down with the big N since rare in the late 90s is Psychonauts 2
I personally hope it remains mysterious until they choose to reveal what it is without someone leaking it.
"Everything takes time."
These days every game takes too much time and it has gotten frustrating. A game should not take more than a whole console generation to finish! That is ridiculous. Most of the games that were announced at or around the launch of Xbox Series/PS5 consoles are still under development! Many Sony First Party studios are MIA and just won't announce what they are working on.
SE won't announce FF9 Remake even though it was leaked years ago and is consistently being worked upon. Dragon Quest XII was never heard from again after they revealed the logo years ago. Bethesda hasn't released an Elder Scrolls mainline game in 13 years! FF7 Trilogy is getting a single game for each console generation! It will likely take 12 to 15 years to finish the trilogy! Why are these devs wasting so much time and money on each game?? It only leads to ridiculous sales targets to cover the costs and makes it more likely for the game to fail commercially.
@Aniscape oh are they the original developers of LOD then? I have that in my collection at home 🔥
@Mikey856
Sony owns so they can give to Bluepoint. There was a rumor a couple years back of a possible Legend of Dragoon remake by them so who knows?!?
Thats good. I dont need to know anytime soon. Best bet their new game will cause me a long while of frustration and then happy tears once i finally beat it. So they can take their time. Allow me to stock up some used controllers lol
@DonkeyFantasy My friend's dad works for bluepoint and he says it's Bloodborne 4 and it's battle royale (with Lizzo skins).
@Mikey856
I am not sure if you have seen the trailer for Expedition 33 yet. Feels like a Legend of Dragoon battle system with some extra elements: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IDyqGZy78Ng&noapp=1
Honestly this practice of Not even teasing what you are working on in any mea ingful way by Sony and Co is straight BS. This bizarre ghosting the fan base strategy is honestly just Making them look clueless and arrogant.
Brilliant at remaking/ resurrecting old Sony IP. Think that could've been their niche. Sony have a rich old library
The getaway, heavenly sword, Jak and Daxter, wipeout, krazy Ivan , arc the lad, colony wars, g police, wild arms, siren, resistance, extermination, etc etc just a treasure trove
Either the next uncharted or a god of war spinoff
It's Bloodliven, part two of the trilogy. Not a new IP, just a new game and name
I just wish they could at least release a PS5 patch for Shadow of the Colossus to raise the fps to 60 in cinematic mode. The 1080p performance mode looks too blurry.
I personally want Bluepoint to continue Shadow of the Beast.
I really enjoyed the 2016 remake by Heavy Spectrum & XDevs and i thought it was one of the best side-scroller AA game published by Sony. Sadly the game got overlooked and underappreciated by many gamers because it's not a well known IP or a big budget game. So it probably never get a sequel 😔
hopefully they´re not working on live service game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
am i the only person on earth who felt like demons souls remake was technically beautiful but polished all of the "soul" (lol) out of the game?? why a bloodborne fan would want them anywhere near that game is just totally beyond me.
@3Above I think this is possible. Especially given they have Sony's funding, as well as the fact that all of the remakes/remasters they've done have sold well, means they could have 1 team for the original IP, while the other is doing a remaster!
@PuppetMaster not really, ps5 came out mid covid and they literally launched demon souls on launch, with support. Covid probably didn't effect them much, the game they had been working on wss already finished and they had a break and worked from home anyway with patches.
They may of gave a helping hand on ragnarok but probably no more than all the teams putting their ideas together.
But reality is
, its only been 3 years since their last game. Games are taking around 4 or 5 years to make now, plus if its an original game then that means they would of had to spend a year pre production, script, and all the other things what come with an original game.
They probably didn't really have the freedom before Sony bought them
@Aniscape ah I’m with you bro. So Sony own that ip aswell as BB lol. Come on Sony you are sitting on some absolute masterpieces. No I haven’t I’ll check it out soon as I’m home later nice one ☝️
Maybe they’re working with Gen Design on a Shadow of the colossus sequel of some sort…PlayStation has them listed as a partner studio.
Imagine if bluepoint r the ones working on the ff9 remake
The biggest pain right now in the industry is that Microsoft announce games that are years and years away from completion and Sony tells almost nothing about anything. I would just love a middle ground where Sony would give a few names as to what they are working on in house and let people get excited like the good old days.
@DrClayman that’s my hope too but I fear our hopes may be squashed
I think my dream Bluepoint game would be a The Order: 1886 sequel. Would love to see it!
@DrClayman @Brawl4002 @UncleByron the more I think about it 'Orginal ip'
just means not a remaster/remake so it really could be Bloodborne II 🤔
@Jimmer-jammer ohhhh man I would love that too!
Its bloodborne 2 with some sort of coop with fromsoft. Makes sense
@3Above Such a great property just sitting there waiting to be turned into something greater!
@Fishmasterflex96 I'm pretty sure that they didn't use fromsofts engine for the demons souls remake..I'm sure they built their own engine from the ground up. There is no way froms ancient, janky engine would have been able to do what bluepoint produced in that game..no way..
@itsfoz Overcooked 3
@Jimmer-jammer Definitely! It's needs an Uncharted 2 style sequel or Remake and a Netflix series honestly.
I have faith they’ll make something fun. They do a great job with their games so it’s awesome they get the chance to shine on their own. Doubt it’s a new IP though because of the wording
@man_what "am i the only person on earth who felt like demons souls remake was technically beautiful but polished all of the "soul" (lol) out of the game??"
Probably 😅 I played both at launch and the remake was a very accurate presentation of the original, not sure what you found wrong with it. They left the game completely intact almost to a fault, it's just a really pretty version of that. If you can explain what was the "soul" they took out?
Could it be perhaps mental? What I mean is since you know it wasn't Fromsoft who made it perhaps you feel they weren't there to put their special in house sauce. That shouldn't be the case because it was co-developed with the great Japan Studio who co-developed the original (along with Bloodborne!).
@Northern_munkey they said themselves there is some of the og code in the game. Obviously they reworked a lot of stuff, but the main point I was making is that Bluepoint has experience in this type of game and at least proved they could be capable of maybe making a bloodbourne 2
@Fishmasterflex96 I agree they are extremely capable of making bloodborne 2 but I don't think it will ever happen. I'd love them to remake the syphon filter games but that's never going to happen either. I wish fromsoft would use bluepoints engine for their games moving forwards as it was so much better..
Bloodborne! Bloodborne! Bloodborne...
Aaahh screw it, I'm wasting my breath...
If only Insomniac had this kind of security.
Removed - flaming/arguing
@KundaliniRising333 the Dragon Quest HD team recently said that they regretted announcing the game so early because it led to constant pressure. Sony have said before that they want to reduce that pressure to avoid another TLOU2 crunch situation.
@Northern_munkey they used FromSofts basic code. It is why the combat still feels the same. They added bells and whistles here and there (haptics, impact, breathing noises, multi direction movement) but the base code is the original
@Jimmer-jammer good call. I was hovering over that last time it was on sale. Next time I’m having it, so underrated. Great little experience
@Fishmasterflex96 "least proved they could be capable of maybe making a bloodbourne 2"
By themselves, without Hidetaka Miyazaki? I don't want it then 😅 it wouldn't really be Bloodborne just like I would consider MGS6 illegitimate without Kojima. Now if they took the role of co-developers with Fromsoft then yeah day one!
I hope they don't get cancelled for Taking too long like some other game did.
@breakneck I stand corrected then. Everything I've read about the remake made me think this was a complete rebuild from scratch using their own engine. If bluepoint managed to coax that level of performance out of fromsofts engine then why can't they themselves?
Bet it’ll be a live-service loot shooter - on the plus side, hopefully they’re taking the approach of not announcing anything until we’re about a year or less out from release, which I’m all for!
@Northern_munkey I think FromSoft is just kinda lazy about it. I mean it's not like people complain about the performance the way they would about any other game.
@breakneck fair point.
@man_what I loved the game and I don't want to be rude but what are you smoking?
