In case you haven't already heard, the newly released Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring is now the highest-rated DLC of all time, settling on a staggering PS5 Metacritic score of 95. But of course, where one game rises, another must fall — and so The Witcher 3's brilliant Blood and Wine expansion has been knocked from its throne, which it's held for over eight years.
But The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red is acting with admirable grace in its defeat. It's congratulated Elden Ring and FromSoftware in a fresh social media post, which reads: "For the last 8 years, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine had the honor of being the best reviewed expansion for a role-playing game — but @ELDENRING gets to wear that crown now. Congratulations to the entire team at @fromsoftware_pr on their stellar work!"
The coolest part, though? It's produced a fantastic piece of artwork to mark the occasion, which depicts The Witcher protagonist Geralt, sword and trident in hand, standing over the bloodied corpse of an infamous Elden Ring boss.
