Astro Bot's eagerly anticipated PS5 outing is almost upon us, launching on September 9th. However, it seems someone just couldn't wait that long, and around 15 minutes of gameplay has leaked online. Like last time around, the video itself has been pulled from YouTube (although you can still find it if you go looking), but fans were quick to note a bunch of details that may be of interest to the PlayStation faithful, who don't mind some small, potential spoilers.
As per Eurogamer, the gameplay in question seems to have been received quite positively by fans, with Redditors spotting some pretty cool special bots: Trico from The Last Guardian, Leon Kennedy, Street Fighter's Ryu and Ken, Gray Fox and Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid, Persona 5's Joker, Octodad, Gravity Rush's Kat, Sly Cooper, Dante from Devil May Cry, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, Spyro, Silent Hill's Pyramid Head, and even the cat from Stray.
Praise is heaped on the animation, and it seems like the gang hangs out in a main hub, with all of the bots doing their own thing. Sounding for all the world like Super Mario 64, players will need to have rescued a certain number in order to unlock additional levels, forming a rope of sorts and allowing them to swing to the next stage.

Man, I love all those special bots that were listed off. I’ve got 0% chance of seeking this out. I wanted this game a few hours after I bought a PS5 way back in January 2021 right after I completed Astro’s other adventure on the console. I’m perfectly content to let this game surprise, delight, and entertain without any thought of spoilers.
I mean, even reading this, I’ll still be “”oo-ing” and “ah-ing” with all references I see. What an especially meta and fun experience this game will be!
Was considering this for my kids birthday next month but now leaning towards a month of PS+ Extra for $15 and playing Plucky Squire and Crisis Core Reunion. Though maybe that’s for me and my kid still gets Astrobot? Guess we’ll wait on reviews.

Think I will give this and any other leaked footage a miss - ive already watched the preview footage a few months back from Pushsquare and Digital Foundry, and dont want too many spoilers (a few minor ones is fine).
Already pre ordered. No reason to ruin 15 minutes by watching someone else play a bit i will be playing myself before long.
