The first post-launch update for Black Myth: Wukong is available to download now on PS5. Patch 1.0.8 weighs in at a reasonable 1.1GB, but players hoping for improvements to technical performance will likely be left disappointed.
The update focuses on fixes for a range of more specific issues, many of which are related to gameplay. We'd assume that most players won't have even noticed a lot of these problems, but at least they're being addressed.
Still, the hope is that developer Game Science can get Wukong running better on Sony's current-gen system. All three of its graphical modes have hiccups on PS5, with even the recommended 'Performance' mode suffering from clumsy frame generation, which can result in input lad. Rough, but — fingers crossed — fixable.

- Additionally, we have identified an issue where setting the system language to Turkish on PS5 causes the game to crash on launch.
- If you encounter this issue, the current temporary workaround is to change the console language to English or another language via the PS5 main menu: Settings > System > Language > Console Language. We are actively working to resolve this issue and will fix it in an upcoming patch. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Is there any mention of a physical release? I've been tempting to buy it but at the same time I'm hoping for a eventual physical release like Alan Wake 2.
Going to wait for the “PS5 Pro enhanced version”
It’s on my radar waiting for performance patches for real 60fps hopefully.
Or PS5 Pro version.
That “Input Lad” is always causing problems 😂
I just beat Yaoguai King "Captain Wise-Voice" last night before bed. He wasn’t too hard—you just have to be patient.
I can wait for them to fix, or they can prove its not bad with a demo. Until then, plenty of other games to play.
And if they take too long it will be cheap in a sale, or even cheaper if i forget it exists.
@Dr_ENT Exactly, I don't get that anyone thinking of buying a Pro is buying any games before it is released and the games are patched. I just save the money and it will surely be cheaper when the Pro finally arrives.
And don't call me "Shirely". (sorry, just an Airplane reference)
Still playing it? With my reactions I'll still be playing at Xmas!
Love it and not desperate for any performance uplifts, it feels fantastic anyway.
@Kraven very annoying fight seemed like it would be harder than it was but not a fun design at all
Is this running 60 fps on performance mode?
Well guys, again it proves my rule - never day one. Let them fix it and then have the best experience.
P.S. This does not apply for Astro Bot
I uninstalled the game, I simply lost interest at whiteclad noble so not that far in really and for me personally the repeat attempts at trying to defeat the bosses became a tedious task and drained the fun factor too soon. Maybe i'll return to the monkey business another time? I mean I wouldn't mind if they added a very easy story mode difficulty just to see the game to the end otherwise it's just a waste of money. I was on this new patch but I wasn't far enough into the game to see any difference.
Edited for clarity: I re-installed the game and have at it again ha, well I did pay £55.
Hell yes I'm still playing it. Performance issues are not issues for me at all. Earlier today I managed to access the secret dragon boss behind the waterfall in chapter 1 and I'm currently having a blast in chapter 2..what an awesome game.
@CrashBandicoat Hi, yes I follow DF YouTube but I kinda felt lazy watching the video so I just decided to ask here since we're on the topic. Ty
No sharpness setting for performance mode? Lame.
@CrashBandicoat I have the feeling people tend to forget some background details because of the huge success of the game.
This developer is not backed (yet) by any big money company like Tencent in China and their team (according to Wikipedia) is rather small.
Taking their focus market into consideration (China) it is actually nice, that we got
1. A western realease
2. A console release
The China game market is still heavily focused on PC and mobile. So my guess is, for all optimization before and after launch, their first priority are PC Gamers and console will be priority 2.
This explains it for me as well why there is no Xbox version, yet. Xbox is a niche product here in China. Why would a China dev even bother with developing games for it?
If you plan a journey to the west (pun intended) for your games as a indie dev, then the focus on PC and Ps5 makes lots of sense for me.
Love the game
I’m one of those people who need a constant 60fps for fast paced games to be able to play them at all. Did I really buy an expensive new console for all these dropped frames everywhere?
