Legacy of Kain fans have been starved of precious, life-sustaining blood for some time now, with really just the rumour of Soul Reaver remasters to subsist on in recent years, and even that was seemingly denied us. IP holder Crystal Dynamics is running a Kickstarter to gauge interest for an official Soul Reaver prequel comic called The Dead Shall Rise (and merchandise), initially asking for just $25k, with well over a million raised already. If that isn't proof of demand for a return to the series, we don't know what is!
Crystal Dynamics shared the achievement on X, noting that there are actually still 17 days to go, so if it's something you want to support, you can. Just skimming through the replies, it's clear that the hunger for anything Legacy of Kain related is more significant than the gothic realm of Nosgoth itself, which we fondly recall slaughtering a swathe across back in the 1996 PS1 original Blood Omen.
Are you hungry for more Legacy of Kain? What are people so seemingly attached to about Raziel and Soul Reaver? We don't call it Legacy of Raziel, after all; remember that Kain is the true progenitor and vampire antihero we deserve in the comments section below.

I thought Raziel wasn’t a Wraith till the events of the Soul Reaver, thought he was still just Kain’s lieutenant and looks more human like still.

If this is a post that actually wants to analyze whether Soul Reaver is popular enough for a revival, it should look at the numbers a little more closely. I don't know if Soul Reaver has a big fan base, but I would guess it's pretty niche. $1m is a nice round, impressive number, but the number of backers is less than 6k. That means those people are backing at an average of $175!
It's hard to compare this Kickstarter to other gaming ones since it's for a comic. However, I think it's worth looking at it slightly more objectively than this piece even attempts.
Waiting in line for remasters and the full return of the IP. Played almost all Nosgoth games, love that universe!! I really wish to revisit it!!
We really need to have an end to the story - pretty sure i have played all the games except Blood Omen (1), and the story was never finished... just made somewhat more convoluted.
I see the first Blood Omen game has been on gog for a few years. Would be nice if it was available on Playstation as well, seeing as it's a ps1 classic.
