Free Radical's beloved TimeSplitters series is now available on PS5 and PS4, purchasable individually or as part of your PS Plus Premium subscription. These PS2 first-person shooters are synonymous with the console, with their zany sci-fi campaigns and signature multiplayer shootouts, and you can enjoy them all over again on modern platforms. Unfortunately, it seems these three games haven't received the full treatment; none of them have Trophies.
Obviously this isn't the end of the world, but TimeSplitters, Timesplitters 2, and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect are all missing Trophy lists on PS5 and PS4. For a trilogy of games so closely associated with the PS2, it's a bit of a shame to see them released without them; Trophies have themselves become an icon of the PlayStation brand.
Still, the good news is that there's every chance they'll get the Trophies they deserve later down the line. Several emulated games in the PS Plus Premium classics range have released without the feature, only to get their own lists many months later on. Just recently, Thrillville and Herc's Adventures have each been updated with Trophy support.
As these games have a firm footing in PlayStation history, we imagine it won't be too long before we see TimeSplitters Trophies. Would you like to see these classic titles get the Trophy treatment? Tell us in the comments section below.

I can wait a little longer.
It needs to happen
Trophies are a cool addition to any game but anyone who refuses to play a game simply because it doesn't have trophies to collect, need to have a serious word with themselves
@Member_the_game
lol, sure, because wanting an old game to have new challenges is weird…
Anyway, we, all of us, have so much to play, competition is so fierce, that not having the additional metagame of trophy challenges is a mark in the minus column. It does make it less likely I’ll want to play a game. Especially when they might be an added feature later.
I'll still play them. Trophies are cool, but I care more about the games themselves.
@Member_the_game
I do wonder why some people play games sometimes seems a digital check mark is more important then having fun with a game.
The gamers said "no way!" and Sony said "way!"
@thefourfoldroot1
Yeah I get that, but is it really a reason to refuse to play a game?... refusing to play a game that you like would be the weird thing.
I thought every game since like 2008 HAD to have trophies? Why are these and a handful of other skirting that rule?
Ill wait a bit long to play
@thefourfoldroot1 not weird just completely unnecessary unless you're desperate to complain about something
I’ll play them regardless wanted to play the Timesplitters games again for years.
Really hoping they add
Worms 3D, Worms 4, Worms Forts,
Seek and Destroy and Mashed at some point as well
@J-Dubs rule?
@J-Dubs The first game came out in 2000, second in 2002, and the third in 2005. These were all pre-trophy games which didn't start until the PS3. Even the PS3 console/games didn't launch with trophies which were added in down the road.
If they add them and it includes get every platinum trophy, I’ll cry. Spent ages today trying to get it on Top Shot and convinced that you need to just be incredibly lucky to do it in the 1:10.
Yea this is very disappointing. Especially with big titles like these. I'll hold off and see I'd they get patched.
Can the whole for and against trophy argument just stop please. It's a preference ultimately. Surely the games without trophies suffer sales so why not include them.
@DestructionAllstars
Why? I make decisions all the time to not play games because of too little (or too much) content or challenge. What’s weird is considering developer given challenges differently depending on whether a little symbol happens to pop up in the corner.
Even just the fact that it has things that unlock AS you play (Characters, levels, entire game modes) should be more of a reason to play than trophies. Like if this came out In modern day, that would ALL be paid DLC. These hearken back to a far less greedy time in the industry. It's beautiful to see and experience again.
I can't wait to unlock the duck.
Not bothered by trophies. I was hoping Future Perfect would have online multiplayer enabled but from what I can gather, this is not the case. That would have been an instant buy from me. I'll stick with the original PS2 versions of TS2 and Future Perfect over LAN with my nephew.
I'm so excited. These are the best FPS games ever made. Because they're the sequels to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, made by the exact same team of people, former Rare employees, and everything like the gameplay and even the sound effects and the pause screen of all things is just like the 2 N64 games. The difference being the much better graphics, and the modern FPS control scheme using both analogue sticks and the shoulder buttons to shoot instead of the terrible, terrible controls of the N64 games.
There's yet to be anything more fun and exciting and chaotic in an FPS game than playing in the death match or capture the flag etc modes in the TS games by yourself with and against like 20 AI bot characters, and changing every single weapon in the level to remote mines, or proximity mines. No guns, nothing else, just remote mines. You spawn with remote mines and the only weapons you can pick up are remote mines. It's just SOOOO good.
Especially if you use the Level Creator mode to create some levels which are nuts and would never be officially included in any actual FPS game because they'd be considered to be too ridiculous, but that's why they're so fun and chaotic. Like I'd just create one big cross, one big ➕ that are just two wide halls that meet in the middle, and place each of the 4 bases for the 4 teams at the end of each hallway. There'd be no cover to hide behind, nothing at all. Just these huge wide halls. And then have only remote mines as the weapons. Modern FPS multiplayer games like Overwatch don't even come remotely close to the level of chaos and fun as that.
I hate playing FPS games online with real people, because using bots back in the day for big bot matches in the TS games were just so much more fun. And they still are.
So this is the thing I'm most excited for for PS5. I bought my PS5 long before these ports were announced but I feel like this was destiny, this was the reason I got a PS5 in the first place, even though I didn't know. The only thing that comes close, about equal to, is volume 2 of the MGS Master Collection, because I've never played MGS 4 before, or Peace Walker, and so I'm buying that for those games alone. But Timesplitters trilogy will pass the time and last me until the rest of the MGS collection comes out, I assume the MGS collection will be released just before Christmas like the first volume was. So not long ago go now.
But yeah everyone, if you think you have a favourite FPS game and you think things like Overwatch can't be beat on the level of chaos and fun, you have absolutely no idea what you're missing. TS will blow you away. You'll end up playing the bot matches for hours.
And people who grew up with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and want more of that, definitely definitely buy the TS trilogy. Day 1.
Not playing until trophy support is there then.
@Member_the_game Trophies are a basic thing now in games on the PlayStation there is no excuse to not add them in 2024. And yes i won't be playing them untill it gets trophy support they should add this basic features on day one with every release now.
@Flaming_Kaiser
I agree that they should be in all games in this day and age, and as I said in my first post they're a cool little addition, but would it stop me playing a game because it doesn't have them???? Absolutely not.
I just don't understand why someone would prioritise a meaningless trophy count over their actual enjoyment of a game
I don’t particularly care for Trophies with these games. It’ll change the way I play them, and I want to play them how they were always meant to be.
I was checking the other day to see if I ever Platinumed/maxed out Achievements. Turns out I did only once, and that once was Telltale's The Walking Dead — which you earn for literally just reaching the credits. These things have always been so insignificant to me, and I think of myself as somewhat of a completionist (I tell ya h'what, getting 120 stars in a Mario game is infinitely more rewarding than getting an obligatorily designed Platinum).
The only two Trophies/Achievements I ever appreciated enough to work for was the Gnome one in Half-Life 2: Ep. 2 (find an innocuous Gnome ornament early in the game, and bring it with you to the end of the game) and the pacifist one from Mirror's Edge (beat the entire game without firing a gun), both of which offered a compelling challenge and significant gameplay. But, aside from those or any alike ones, I fail to see why people care about them. It's okay if you do, I just don't get it.
What's not okay to me — and I'll needlessly die on this hill — is rejecting a game due to a lack thereof. I get everyone plays games for different reasons and has their own priorities, but if your decision to play or not play a game hinges on a Trophy list, I dare say you're playing games for the wrong reasons.
How does TS2 play and run then because I loved that game to bits
@Nakatomi_Uk it plays great and to me looks really good considering it's a ps2 game.
Was really looking forward to getting trophies on these 3 games but I'll leave them for now
Just bought TS1. 😍 Man, I missed this announcement last week. Despite already having Timesplitters 2 and 3 on Series X, TS1 is still exclusive to PS. Awesome to have the entire Trilogy again on modern hardware. 😍 The way the Timesplitters IP has been treated by publishers is just criminal at this point.
@J-Dubs That "rule" doesn't automatically apply to straight ports of re-released classic titles. Timesplitters is from the pre-HD, pre-achievement/trophy days.
Same with BWC original Xbox ports (like TS2 and 3) on Xbone/Series X; they don't have achievements, only 360 titles do.
@RegrettableSuperhero Made an account just to reply to this. The multiplayer against bots with my cousin and me would take our entire weekend. Just us trying to run away from 20 Jo-Barf Creepy's, or whatever she's named. Get on the biggest map and just RUN, last one alive wins.
Now that I live alone, I wish they did add a multiplayer mode for online. I'd love to recreate that action with my friends nowadays without us having to find a day or night to all get together in the same place. But your message definitely reminded me of good times.
As for the trophy support, I love trophies and often do choose a specific game over another if they have them and the other doesn't. I enjoy going down my trophy list and being able to see what I have and haven't completed over the past decade or so. I have over 200 plats, maybe 10 of those are ones you can get in a few minutes, but otherwise they're legit. Just last night I was going over them and saw I hadn't completed the last mission in San Andreas after opening that list. Went back and completed it and now I wanna keep going and get the plat.
I'm just the type of person that likes knowing I completed everything that I wanted to complete, and got every trophy the developer put in. Going down that list and seeing 100% on a game is satisfying. Like a nice little timeline of where you were in life at that time and what you were playing on a specific date/time.
This is totally BS! I Will buy ALL 3 if they include a platinum. I already know for a fact TS2's platinum will be hard if it involves beating the story on hard mode.
OMG what?!? I was just looking for a rad fps last night! I don't care about trophies.
@Netret0120
Again I've no arguments / issues with what you're saying.....
I just can't get my head around why it would make someone flat out refuse to play a game just because it doesn't have trophies.
If it has them, great!!!! Crack on
If it doesn't, just play the game anyway and enjoy yourself, life's too short to get upset over something so simple. (I'm not specifically accusing you of being upset, it's just a figure of speech)
Some of my favourite games of this generation have actually been on the Nintendo Switch, Super Mario Odyssey as a prime example.
On that game there's not a trophy in sight but it hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the game in any way shape or form.
Could it be argued that having trophies to collect might make it better? Quite possibly. But why anyone would refuse to play it (or any other game) because it doesn't have a trophy collection it completely beyond me
@Member_the_game my five year old is playing Odyssey and it is so fun to see him experience that game. It's top tier Nintendo for sure. Just effortlessly creative.
Won’t play them without trophies!! I already played it on Xbox Series X it supports backwards compatibility for all OG Xbox TS games and I’m already moved on. It was little bored without achievements.
@Member_the_game
Fair play. You do make valid points. Hope whenever trophy support is added, it pops trophies according to the saved data.
Haven't owned a Nintendo console since the SNES (I'm old lol) but I always hear good things about their exclusives.
@LikelySatan
It's an absolute masterpiece, I recently started to play through it again from scratch and I'd forgotten just how good it is.
If this new Astro Bot game is even half as good we're in for a treat
RetroAchievements apparently has them listed.
Do they have any updates with like resolution bumps or save states or widescreen support? I’ve never bought one of these ps4/ps5 re releases and this trilogy may be my first. I’d be getting it on the ps4 though so I’d be wondering how it performs on that system in particular.
They'll probably get trophies later down the line, but come on - this is sloppy and it shouldn't be happening
That's good, no games should have trophies , trying artificially extend gamers to play game , for example running around for items , playing in a certain way till so if you rushing trophies and wanted do something else you have to play again.
Trophies were made not for players but for the companies this for Sony to keep people playing more then they need too.
No they shouldn't @Member_the_game
@SolarSpirit86 no it not , you have no idea
@J-Dubs there should be no trophies
@Raymax zzzzzz
@Member_the_game I have little time to play and these things are normal to me also feel like a little extra bonus.
And if I can choose I'll take it with trophies and how much effort can it be to implement a few basic trophies.
