A few years ago, Journey to the Savage Planet released on PS4, a sci-fi survival shooter with a tongue-in-cheek tone. Now, developer Raccoon Logic (previously Typhoon Studios) returns with the sequel, Revenge of the Savage Planet. Check out the announcement trailer above.
Playable solo or in two-player co-op (on or offline), Revenge of the Savage Planet moves the action from first person to third person, and is already looking like an all-round improvement on the first game (just look at that run cycle!). Playing as cosmonauts who've been fired from the space program, the game's main mission is figuring out a way back to your home planet using the alien resources at your disposal.
Further details are thin on the ground right now, but it's targeting a launch sometime in 2025 for PC and consoles, including PS5. Are you interested in Revenge of the Savage Planet? No friendly fire in the comments section below.

Quick question, I don't know anything about the game, is the game viewed from a Russian perspective?
I absolutely loved the first one. Just played it straight through and couldn't stop. Was like a humerous 3D metroid with so much exploration and verticality. It even earned a very rare 2nd plsythrough from me. This will be day 1 for me if it's even half as good as the first.
Edit: watched the trailer and.. this seems completely different, but not in a good way.
I thought the first game surprisingly good, though not quite good enough to keep me to the end. I seem to remember the first game not having any NPCs, which hindered it in my mind. Maybe the sequel will fix this.
Dude WHAT!?
Where did this come from? I wanna play it so bad
@riceNpea You are sent by an American corporation in the game. Game pokes fun at corporate greed, but nothing too searing or political.
@Sequel ahh. I was asking because it features a cosmonaut, not an astronaut. So the Russian is tempted by American money. Sounds like the FBI is involved! 😊
It's from that team that Jason Shreier criticized for being white male only.
Another 2025 game. 2025 is bloaaaated.
Ooo. Looking forward for this one. First game was a blast and a real surprise.
I hope the game still has option for first person view camera. It just doesn't look right with the third person camera.
journey to the savage planet is a great ps4 game with free ps5 upgrade as well that includes the dlc
First one was good fun, so I will check it out sometime!
My experience with the first one is pretty much the same as deadfred77. The change to third-person in this sequel caught my interest so keeping an eye on this.
The first game was an absolute blast. Like Metroid Prime with a silly sense of humor and loads of anti-corporate satire. I'd highly recommend it and can't wait for this sequel.
@deadfred77 Yeah me too. I got most of the way through but didn't quite finish it. Looking forward to this now!
Can’t wait to eat some goo (reluctantly), kick some dumb animals, and find a way home using something sticky and possibly alive.
Neat, the first one was a very silly Metroid Prime like. I didn't finish it though because the shooting was kind of terrible on controller. Meant to try it on PC with KB+M but never got around to it. The exploration was top notch though. I am glad the terrifying FMV commercials are back. I feel divided on the switch to third-person. I much prefer it and I think it will make the platforming much less janky, but on the other hand, it doesn't quite fill that Metroid Prime hole in my heart anymore.
I liked the first one almost specifically because it was like a mix of first person Metroid and Ratchet & Clank. I am not vibing nearly as much with the switch to third person, but I'll to see more.
Putting it on my wishlist, although I still have the first one in my backlog!
This is great news! Really enjoyed the first game.
