Dying Light protagonist Kyle Crane is back for a new standalone spin-off game named Dying Light: The Beast, developed by series creator Techland. The title, set between the original and its sequel Dying Light 2: Stay Human, will feature its very own compact open world – and new stories within it.
The return of the release’s original hero is pertinent, as Crane could face one of two grisly fates at the end of the first game: detonate a giant bomb or sacrifice himself to science. Either way, things didn’t really end well for the protagonist.
Nevertheless, he’s here, climbing up buildings and lopping the heads off the undead. As you’d expect from a Dying Light game, there’ll be myriad weapons to utilise and even a truck to drive. Crucially, it looks like Crane will be hunted by zombies as well as mobsters and the military. Life’s rarely easy, eh?
There’s no date attached to the outing just yet, but we’ll update as and when we know more.

So I was really dumb buying the deluxe version of Dying Light 2 when I only got one story DLC then hey?
I’ll be expecting some money back or this for free then Techland…
EDIT: Techland have confirmed on Twitter that Ultimate Edition purchasers will get this for free. Great news!
@itsfoz That’s really good to hear as I’ve been considering picking up the Ultimate Edition of DL2. Thanks for the tip!
Kyle Crane? Would have preferred to play as Niles Crane personally, but understandably the licensing wouldn't have work. Oh well.
Bolo Machete- check, lighter fluid- check, battery pack-check. Just need to find a workbench.
Is it Roger Craig Smith though?
@itsfoz sweet! then i'm good to go when this releases! 😎
Roger Craig Smith in the first game always made me feel I was playing some first person sequel to RE5 in a good way! I may have to pick this up!
@pyrrhic_victory Yup - confirmed by himself and Techland!
