We’ve always loved tycoon titles, and grew up enviously eyeing the Japan-exclusive Theme Aquarium as a result. We never expected Two Point Museum to have an entire aquarium aspect bundled in, on top of all the other exhibits you can curate. But speaking as part of a Gamescom livestream, captured and uploaded by IGN, that’s exactly what you can expect.

In fact, there’s way more depth here than we ever could have imagined. For example, you’ll need to control temperatures to ensure your collections remain in optimal condition. If you do have fish tanks, then you’ll need to maintain the water quality, and even consider which fish you pair together, as some will eat others.

And then, as you progress through the game, you’ll need to send researchers out on expeditions to discover new items to improve your museum’s overall experience.

One neat feature is that kids will appear in Two Point Museum, and you can expect them to leave behind a mess. This opens up new possibilities like school trips, which will require a specific type of management approach.

We love Two Point’s tycoon titles, but we perhaps hadn’t expected the levels of depth on display here. This sounds brilliant, and it’s ripe for future expansion as well, because there’s no limit to the type of exhibits the developer could add as DLC in the future. The game’s due out next year on PS5.
