We know Sony likes its premium price points, but the upcoming PS5 version of Until Dawn — which is effectively a one-to-one remake of the PS4 original — is asking a lot. According to ever-reliable leaker billbil-kun on Dealabs, the re-release will demand a full $60 / £60 / €70.
Comparisons are being drawn to The Last of Us: Part 1, which launched full price in 2022. That was also a faithful remake, boasting better visuals and rebuilt assets. The asking price (which was actually more expensive) didn't go down well back then either, and similar criticisms are already being hurled in Until Dawn's direction. "Who even wanted this remake?" is a common question across comments sections and social media.
The pricing's even harder to stomach when you consider just how cheap the original PS4 game is these days. You can track it down for comparative peanuts and end up with that is, in essence, the exact same horror experience. That said, the PS4 version of Until Dawn isn't perfect when running via backwards compatibility on PS5. The resolution is locked to just 1080p, and it does suffer from some frame rate fluctuations, as it attempts to target 60 frames per second.
How do you feel about Until Dawn on PS5? Is this price point taking the piss, or did you see it coming from a mile away? Feed us an honest opinion in the comments section below.
Would you pay $60 / £60 / €70 for Until Dawn's PS5 remake? (1,584 votes)
- Yes, I'm sure it's worth the price
- Hell no

If there is no upgrade path, ***** them! Even if it has, still ***** them. Also Last of Us Remaketered was a big ***** disgrace. If you remake it, make it worth it and actually put some effort to upgrade it to Part 2 levels of gameplay mechanics you greedy *****.
Sony, Sony, Sony…what are you thinking???
LMFAO that is hilarious. Good luck Sony on your endeavours. I'm not gonna be a loyal part of it anymore
Cancelling golden projects and rehashing old crap for hilarious price tags.
They couldn't even put factions in the TLOU1 remake. Being disappointed by Sony has been a very common thing this generation
Ehhhhhhh I'll wait for a sale then.
It's not a Day 1 buy for me anyway. Will pick it up when the price drops. Was always curious about this one though. I never played the original.
Edit: Going by some of the comments below it seems there's a lot more to this game than just a 1 to 1 remake.
Why does it being a one to one remake keep getting regurgitated even from a gaming site when that’s not true. The remake has new collectibles, new locations to explore, expanded story with new scenes ,a completely new graphics engine,a completely new soundtrack, new animations, completely new camera and even new character contextual animations. So I ask how is that even remotely like TLOU part 1 remake or a one to one remake smh.
This remake still just feels so random. I get it's probably more oriented toward the PC market (as is increasingly the case with Sony games these days), but is there really a market for this? Until Dawn isn't The Last of Us. Why put these resources into remaking it, and then barely even change anything other than the visuals?
At this point, I'm fully convinced Sony will re-release Knack for $70 before they even consider touching Bloodborne in any way.
@Scottyy way too much work went into this for there to be an upgrade path and TLOU part one remake absolutely tightened up the gameplay but there was no way they could have implemented part 2 gameplay into 1 without completely redesigning the levels
@Ralizah Jesus once again do some research they’ve changed plenty and this is happening because like you said it’s coming to PC plus there’s a movie adaptation getting made. Plus the game has done nothing but grown in popularity and reputation since it’s release so I can see it doing well especially coming out during Halloween season
I can pick up the original at GameStop for like $10. This isn’t even a Last of Us case where it was a PS3 game, this is a native PS4 game that still looks good. I can’t imagine why anyone during a general economic downturn would spend $60 on this.
I thought lollipop chainsaw releasing for 40 when shadows of the damned is selling for 20 was bad enough. I like Until Dawn and i was looking forward to the changes but at the same time the story, endings are going to be the same. Il wait for a sale
I'm a fan, so I'll be picking this one up myself. I own the original PS4 offering. My daughter and I have so many great memories playing games in and of this genre/ style.
@Deoxyr1bose the tlou also had a ps4 version
@Danloaded actually see my comment a few comments up there’s plenty new here and I don’t see an issue with the price because of them
£60 is too much for a new game, never mind a remake.
Looked like a lazy cash grab, now we know it is one, a showcase is desperately needed as mannn the future looks dire.
some people will pay it
I wont already got the original that runs at 60fps on ps5
Looking forward to playing this at the full price...of my PS Plus subscription when it drops in a couple of years. Great game but not sure it needed to be remade, even with the additions. Would have bought a sequel though!
I will wait for a sale as there's too many brand new games coming out over the next few months that I want and for the same price.
its a 4 hour walking simulator fgs. I expected £25
Sony has been pretty arrogant in their pricing this gen. I've never been a fan of "well-fed" Sony, we need "hungry" Sony from the start of the PS4 gen back.
I liked the game when I played it originally. I don’t like it that much. Like the article says, who was even asking for this anyway?
Seems like people have forgotten that an until dawn movie is also in the works.
Similarly to how TLOU part 1 sold really well (I think) thanks to new interest from the HBO series, I'm sure Sony is planning a similar outcome for until dawn. Guess we'll have to wait and see if it pays off 👀
Where is the problem? Nobody is forced to buy it, and the original is still available at a dirt cheap price.
There are enough people out there who have much more money than time for gaming, and this game is great for them.
It's a little bit hard to be impartial since I hate this game but......yeah even personal feelings on the game aside this is not worth it at all
If you're a first timer I think you can get your money's worth, but if you've already gotten your fill it's a big ask.
I like Until Dawn, but am firmly in the "did this need to be remade?" camp. I know there are new players on PS5 that Sony is hoping to capture, it's just not even vaguely old or dated.
Alright, so maybe in a few years.
I will buy it never played much of the original game
"Who even wanted this remake?" is a common question across comments sections and social media."
If that's a question people are asking, why would they care about the remakes price point, unless of course it's just to be outraged about something they supposedly have no interest in.
From my understanding this game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, if that's not the case then someone please correct me. If that's accurate however, then all that work would have taken a significant amount of time and money.
Played the original through twice when it was either free on ps plus or very cheap in a sale (cant remember which).
Enjoyed it, but like others i just cannot see myself wanting to play through again - even with no additional price, let alone £60.
I'm convinced this game is some sort of tax write off thing
Wasn’t wow-ed by this game the first time I played it, so I wouldn’t buy this remake no matter how much it cost.
Good to see 90% of Pushsquare readers have common sense.
@Intr1n5ic Agreed, but a price is principly independent of the production costs. It is what people are willing to pay for it. So even if it would be only a remaster, Sony could demand 60 quids, and there would be people willing to pay.
Who's even asking for this?
This is a $20 game on the PS Store. Absolutely not. Sony needs to pull their heads out of their butts.
Pricing is never a matter of what something is worth, but rather a matter of what people will pay. Sony has the experience to do this calculation better than some armchair CFOs.
Hilarious. I was looking forward to this as well. No physical release 60 dollars is 46 quid on the exchange rate 💩 FFS Sony you're looking a lot like like a certain red Crab from a popular animated series right about now. £60? No thanks 🖕
@Monstermash40 this has to be the most outplayed and annoying thing people on the internet regurgitate. Obviously there’s an audience if Sony deemed this worthy to do and are now making a movie out of it
I think this price is aimed at people who haven't played it before. A lot of PS5 owners didn't own a PS4. I saw a comparison video yesterday, which showed substantial improvements. New camera angles, new lip sync, new walking animations etc.
Sure, if youbayed the PS4 version, it's a steep price.
If your new to the game, it seems like experience worth the money.
Here my theory:
Maybe there is Until Dawn 2 in the making. And this remake served as an entry point for the devs to create the engine, the aesthetics and the mechanics, after so many years. UD2 would be a full-price title, so UDR should also be (unlike Metroid Prime Remastered).
Plausible in your eyes?
@Max_the_German I guess there's no reason to think it won't do swimmingly then.
@Max_the_German I understand what you're saying, but why do people seemingly disregard the amount of time that goes in to projects like this, especially whithin an industry that we know incurs high costs.
To me it just feels like another conversation about people not wanting to pay for stuff, or the mindset that because they bought something 10 years ago they should be entitled to this for next to nothing. Why does this only exist in gaming, it makes me wonder if they're also upset about not being given free blu rays to replace their dvd collection.
@dark_knightmare2 ...but it's already a movie?
@Intr1n5ic no you are absolutely correct it’s been completely Remade from the ground up in a completely new graphics engine along with having new areas to explore ,new story and scenes, new animations, new contextual animations for every character,a completely new soundtrack, new collectibles and a completely new camera. People who weren’t interested so have no knowledge on the game just wanted to come in and take shots at Sony because the internet is filled with people who are miserable and want to spread that misery and negativity and it’s so annoying
@LikelySatan but it’s not considering you get to walk around and explore and make decisions do you get to do that in movies?
Removed - disrespecting others
What’s with £60 being equal to $60 that’s BS.
@Intr1n5ic yeah you never see this in the movie collecting scene which I’m part of. Like there’s movies I’ve bought on the same format two or three times just because of a better transfer or new packaging or special features. I don’t feel entitled because I’ve bought it once to get every subsequent release for free or a discount I either buy it at release or wait for a discount
@dark_knightmare2 I was being a silly goose. Like if I really liked a game or was excited about it and was sick of negativity surrounding it so I went and wallowed in that negativity because other people made fun of it. Silly like that.
@Ken_Kaniff 60 isn’t full price and hi I’m right here
@dark_knightmare2 so wait. It is or isn't the same thing? Is this significantly improved or not? Movies on different formats are not the same thing as a remake of a game. You can digitize movies from any format and own them forever. Completely different situation.
@thefourfoldroot1 I don't think it's always a question of either or. I could sit here and list thousands of products where the material cost has an established market value and how that directly plays in to the cost analysis of it's worth. It's not as black and white as simply saying how much do you think they'll pay for this.
@dark_knightmare2 Exactly, it doesn't exist in music either. Gamers are a special bunch though for some reason.
@Intr1n5ic the vinyl that I've collected since I was a teenager is all on my hard drive and ready to be burnt or copied at any time I choose. Damn right games are different.
@Intr1n5ic
So you’re saying a company will determine they can charge £60 for something to get the best return on investment (with a higher or lower price being less profitable) but will instead decide to price it lower to better align with material costs? Sorry, don’t buy it. That must be an extreme rarity.
@Intr1n5ic what does that have to do with the reality of video games? Were you around when publishers told us that a digital future would pass the savings from retail space, shipping, disc production, plastics, manuals etc on to us?
The remake is definitely for a new audience.
The original version is really good and probably won’t play it again.
I paid 5 bucks for my physical copy for the PS4. I see no value in this remake and its price is outrageous.
@thefourfoldroot1 I'm saying the pricing is directly affected by the costs involved in the products production. Hence a game involving a ton of mo-cap, voice over work, high resolution rendering etc, will always come in at the higher end compared to lower budget games. "Material" costs in this conversation is reflected by the size of the team and the amount of time and money spent completing a project.
Man these crickets are loud.
@Intr1n5ic I haven't played the game, but I'll wager I do play it when it's massively discounted, very soon after release. This is bad for the developers, also. If this game's budget is as nuts as I'm hearing for this production, that isn't a good thing. There's a few of you here correcting misconceptions of a whole lot of others...if they are actually misconceptions. The point is perception is not in the game's favor. I can't see it doing well at this price, and if that price was necessary to recoup production costs, that was probably irresponsible.
It’s simple don’t buy it and vote with your wallets.
They will get the message in the end.
@LikelySatan Great, you can play it whenever you want. You can pay whatever you feel is appropriate as well when it reaches that price point. Both of those options are better than complaining on the internet about something that's a non issue.
@LikelySatan no it’s not the exact same game with just better graphics there’s plenty new which I’ve detailed in a comment already
To quote sgt Apone from Aliens: Uh… that’s a negative. I have the original one to play whenever I want to. Besides, I’ve just resubbed to PS Plus. Got enough to play so no biggie.
As a big fan of the game there's no way I would pay even half of that 😐 if there's not even an upgrade path then this is one of the most obvious cash grabs of the year at least!
A fool and his money...blah blah blah. I will probably pick this up when it hits $10.
@Tecinthebrain how is it an obvious cash grab?
No sir! not me!.rickrossgif
@Intr1n5ic yeah you right it's just me.
Dunno, but I will probably pick this game once its on sale.
The OG one was good and I can picture the remake being good too.
I'll just laugh and move on. I already wasn't very interested in this given that I still have the original. This just makes it that much easier.
I really like until dawn even though I've completed it many times and was looking forward to this but that price tag....
Unfortunately looks like I'll be waiting for a sale
I wasn't even going to buy it full stop. Its a good game but once you have done everything it has no real replay value. I might watch it in movie form though once it hits YT.
Greed is massively strong
You can easily tell who came to sh**post and bounce which could have been solved if the article didn’t frame this story negatively and reported on all the differences
@Deityjester how so?
@dark_knightmare2 Atlas Fallen released an update this month that added a whole new fairly sized map, new voice cast that includes Ben Starr, a new better opening, new items, new combat moves, better visuals, new cosmetics and a NG+ mode all for the price of nothing it was completely free no strings attached so yeah Sony could have offered a upgrade path.
@DennisReynolds ok my guy just because one game did it doesn’t mean every game has to do it not to mention this game switches to a completely different graphics engine, added new story scenes and areas to explore, new animations, new contextual animations for each character, new collectibles and interactions,a new soundtrack and a completely new camera. Oh and I like atlas fallen a lot and the update is nice but the new area isn’t fairly sized nvm you do nothing but what amounts to a mini horde mode fight every visit, the opening isn’t new they just took out the talk to three people busy work and I don’t remember anything about improved graphics at all and don’t believe that to be true
I didn’t intend to buy this either way. But damn, if there are people willing to spend $60/£60 on it then let them do them. I’m always puzzled by people who get pissed off by how other people spend their own money.
Is that that the price for the physical edition?
What is the primary age demographic for this site? I enjoy the content quite a bit, but the incessant user complaints about game costs and clinging to physical media is really bizarre to me. 44 year old midwestern American. Maybe thats why. Ill be happily buying the game at launch.
Am I going to pay that price for it? No.
Is it going to sell? It will, specially on pc where games like these are very popular + when the movie is out it will sell some more basically having 2 peaks of sales in a game that isn't a service and most likely won't have extra content.
I agree that this specific game isn't worth it but the fact that the last of us remake was mentioned having similar reactions only shows why so many indie studios close these days and why there are so many free services, people don't want to pay for anything doesn't matter if it's a good product and that same people are not only hurting the industry not buying sh*t but also are pushing for everything to be a service to then ask why or complain about it lol.
As so often, the real greedy people are the ones here in the comments ... I could write a novel as to why I think this way, but no one will read that anyway.
@dark_knightmare2 if it's outplayed and regurgitated then doesn't that tell you not many people want this game. You're acting like it was game of the year 2015. It didn't set the world on fire then and it probably won't now. I don't think I'll ever defend a corporation. They don't care. They just want money.
I don't think you know how to have a discussion without chastising others. People have different views and opinions. We're allowed to comment on a comment board weather you agree or not.
For my 2 cents, I don't know why Sony thought to spend millions on a remake rather than a sequel or maybe spend that money on more, smaller games
As for the crickets on here; people don't live their lives on a website. We got lives of our own.
@Kenshir0 "No physical release 60 dollars is 46 quid on the exchange rate"
To be fair, US prices don't include tax whereas ours always do. We still pay slightly more than them because we're a much smaller market but if they had to pay what we do for VAT, they'd be paying £55.20. Or in other words, while the pre-tax price in the US is equivalent to £46, the pre-tax price here is £50.
Not a massive difference given how much easier it is to manufacture and ship the product en masse across the US compared to the UK, and with us being a significantly smaller market for games.
And yet another remaster of game that looks fine the way it is really. Christ its only a last gen game. Why not invest the money in a new game altogether. Love to know who green lights these ideas at Sony!!
What a joke, Why is it called Remake ? RE and FF7 remakes, this is a remaster and they want that price,.it's not like this game is amazing or anything, the world wasnt raving about it when it came out. I know they did the same with TLOU remaster but that did set the world on fire so to say,
I also find it hard to belive that this was highly requested
Be interesting to see how it sells though
No chance, I already own it on PS4 so there's no way I'm paying so much for a slight face-lift. Not to mention anyone with any sense should just buy the physical PS4 version for £15 from Amazon or probably much less used then pay £60 for exactly the same game
For any PS5 owners who never played the PS4 ver, i say 60 bucks for this remake is worth the money especially with what i heard they added some new stuff.
@Scottyy You're talking about remastered or port which sometimes they gave an upgrade path. But i believe no company ever provide an upgrade path for a remake for any customers who own the original game.
@PuppetMaster I mean Doom and Quake have had free updated versions of their games with way more added content then this has.
Not to mention that you can't really compare the level of the RE and FF remakes with this game, they're not in the same ball park
@dark_knightmare2 The point is Sony can easily do a upgrade discount they just don't want too. Death Stranding added a lot of new content in its DC form as did TLoUP2 and they offered a path. Until Dawn is hardly breaking the bank for Sony and that new stuff they added? I bet it doesn't last longer then 2 to 3 hours and amounts to nothing. Black Myth is cheaper then this remaster just think about that.
@PuppetMaster The Last of Us: Part 2 literally gave players a £10 upgrade option if you bought the game on PS4. Charging folks £60 with no upgrade path is a joke. Even £20 would be fine and £60 for new players.
@Stevey_Mac That's a remastered which i said sometimes they offered upgrade path. But this is a remake. You don't want to pay 60 for this remake then play your PS4 version.
@carlos82 Are you talking about the original Doom and Quake cause i believe there's no Doom and Quake remake.
And RE and FF are still a remake no matter what the scale difference and they didn't give upgrade path for anyone who own the original game. Heck, there's no upgrade path for Crash N.Sane Trilogy, CTR Nitro Fueled, or Tony Hawk 1+2 remake for anyone who owned Crash 1-3 & CTR or THPS 1 & 2 on PS1.
@PuppetMaster Oh I will and so will many others I will imagine. £60 is a joke. People who already played the game will have no issue waiting for it to get heavily discounted.
@DennisReynolds no black myth cost 60 which what would that matter anyway. Tlou remastered part 2 barely upgraded the graphics and if you didn’t upgrade sold for 50 with nowhere near the amount that’s been added to this. You can keep moving the goal post all you want to try to justify why Sony is “greedy” but in this example they just aren’t. Nintendo released the Mario all star collection which were straight ports with no added content for 60,Capcom released the five hour RE 3 remake for 60,hell TLOU part 1 remake sold for 70 and had upgraded graphics and slightly improved controls so this being 60 with the amount added and changed isn’t some outrageous proposition. Now if you don’t feel like all those changes are worth it cool you can still play the ps4 version or wait for a discount. Oh and once again this isn’t a remaster it’s a remake and do you think it was cheap for them to rebuild this from the ground up in a completely new graphics engine because it wasn’t
I think I got the original for like 10$. 5 years ago. Never did get into it. Too schlocky for my tastes. Still, that's about the current value of it.
@PuppetMaster don’t waste your time most of these people weren’t interested to begin with they just want to come in and take shots at Sony or just be negative and even when you show them the amount of things added or changed they either ignore it and bounce or try to move the goal posts to why this is still bad it’s exhausting lol
@nick_dizel lol yeah. If it’s complaining about wanting a “true” next gen game with true to life graphics. It’s complaining that said game cost more because the budget was so high. Or there’s the clamoring for retro games, then when they’re released nobody plays them. At this point I believe gamers have more fun being gaming contrarians than actually playing games.
I would've actually considered it for £35. A new coat of paint and some changed areas/ mechanics. Would be fair as me and my partner really enjoyed the original
@Stevey_Mac but that’s choice though. People who’ve already played it, such as myself, can wait for this version to be discontinued. Folks need to the game can purchase this one and get some new content and graphical upgrades, or they can find the old game at a much lower price.
@Monstermash40 they are supposedly making a sequel and people obviously wanted this or Sony wouldn’t have found it to be cost effective to do and if the game didn’t have popularity or a following they wouldn’t be doing a movie adaptation also. The game is still I believe Supermassives best selling title and it reviewed well and continues to grow in popularity with each passing year. Oh and the outplayed and regurgitated I was referring to in my comment was about how every time a remake or remaster is announced there’s someone with the oh so original comment of who is this for lol
@Recover20 really underselling it lol. It’s expanded the story with new scenes, added new areas to explore and collectibles to collect as well as switching graphics engines, changing the camera to third person, completely new soundtrack, new animations as well as new contextual animations for each character on top of the massively upgraded graphics. Trying to sell it has a few areas/upgraded graphics is ridiculous.
Well guys, why are you so mad. They decided and did it. Noone is making amyone buy it. But in several months the people can play ot for a discount for sure so it is a win. And it deffinately due to bad results they will throw it in ps extra for value and we will get it Think long game.
Absolute insanity from Sony considering this game has previously been given away on PS Plus
@PuppetMaster Yeah the original Doom and Quake, these don't run on their original engines and have had extra campaigns created for them. Then you're comparing games from previous consoles where there have never been any kind of upgrade paths to newer consoles vs an ecosystem between PS4/5 which has plenty and I don't really see why this remaster doesn't offer one either
I think I'll go and play the PS4 version.
Future ps plus game.
I think game prices are set now to counteract all of the 'I'll wait for a sale/PS Plus" crew. If people want to subsidise the more thrifty of us, then let them knock themselves out.
@dark_knightmare2 To be fair this is the first time I'm hearing of anything other than a 1/1 remake with a third person camera angle.
That other stuff you mentioned is news to me. Maybe Gamescom will have it be more apparent.
This will be free on plus essential or extra soon enough, just like the original, it's always good to wait no point in buying any game on day one these days anyway
Another needless remasterake to double dip with.
The folks in the "built from the ground up." crowd; I just don't get what reality you are living in their own promotional trailers primarily tout the graphical Improvement and in some side By side comparisons they have released, it's sometimes a modest improvements at that.
Time after time we have seen remakes that smell just Like this, are priced just like this, that are defended by the bootlickers, but largely criticized by those looking at the big picture trajectory of what these ever increasing cash grabs mean for the industry. Especially as the prevalence of automated development tools replacing actual dev costs increases alongside it.
For $60, hellllll no
@Recover20 yeah it came from the Psblog if you google you could probably find it and read it if you wanted
If you don't own it and have never played it before then it is probably worth it but if you have then I would wait for a sale.
@KundaliniRising333 what side by side comparisons have you watched because the most recent one showed a massive upgrade. It’s also not just that but new areas to explore and new story scenes ,new animations as well as new contextual animations for each character, new collectibles and interactions,a a whole new soundtrack and the camera going from static to third person. All that and it’s been rebuilt it from the ground up in unreal engine 5
@JalapenoSpiceLife really because this gen Sony has been in no rush to put their games on their plus tiers
I would at best pick this one up on PC while sailing the seven seas
What a joke. The PS4 version still looks perfectly fine and runs just fine with no issues. More importantly you can pick that version up for like a tenner maybe even less on eBay. You would have to be crazy to pay that price. Even if you have never played it I still wouldn't spend that much. This will come down in price pretty quickly once they see no demand to pay 60pound
If there's a PS5 disc I'll wait for sub $40, or for sub $30 sale on Steam. I've played it already not long ago via BC on PS5.
@dark_knightmare2 Black Myth cost less then £60 on PSN i know because i bought it, the DE is 65 and the normal version is 55.
TLoUP2 added a whole new game mode, tons of cosmetics and hours and hours of making off stuff including playable "lost levels". I'm not moving the goal post i'm pointing out Sony have offered the same amount of stuff or more for a $10 upgrade. I bet you that GoW Ragnarok expansion cost more to make then the Until Dawn Remaster and that was free, now i'm not saying UD should be free but a $10 upgrade is pretty fair especially as more would pay that then bother at $60. Still defend the billion dollar corp whose put out more remasters it seems then new current gen only games for the PS5 🙄
Should be an upgrade path available
@DennisReynolds once again this isn’t a remaster it’s a remake did you expect tlou part 1 remake to have an upgrade? We don’t know how much the GOW Valhalla add on cost to make but considering it’s rogue like and reused a lot of assets I would bet not much same with tlou part 2 no return mode and I loved both of those and it was cool they were free and 10. This being rebuilt from the ground up in unreal engine 5 on top of everything they’ve added which I’ve already stated makes it more than worth charging 60 for. You disagree that’s fine but I’m not going to belittle the devs work and say it should be free or 10 dollars and that’s my point I’m not defending a billion dollar corporation which I couldn’t give two ***** about im just willing to pay the price for the devs who went above and beyond instead of doing a lazy remaster that barely changes anything
When you charge more for games you get less money, I used to buy games new at £50 now I wait and get them second hand so Sony is getting none of my money
Crazy that a game I bought eight years ago for $10 is now going to be $60. And honestly somehow looks worse than I remember.
It should be £40 or a £20 upgrade for owners of the original, in my opinion.
I wish someone would tell Sony £60≠$60
When TotK released at $70 the price here was £60
@dark_knightmare2 Like TLoP1 "remake" its a fancy remaster pretending its a remake.
@AhmadSumadi I really don't care if the game can make others happy why would I want it to be discontinued. I don't need to buy it it's digital only I heard so that makes it even easier I don't buy digital games at full price ever.
@thechetearly what did you expect it's Sony
No upgrade path = no money from me.
Apologists talking about the cost of making this are conveniently ignoring the money saved on writing, storyboarding, voice acting, soundtrack etc etc etc. It's all already present.
This generation has seen several odd moves from Sony, and this is one of them.
Nintendo now won't be the only one being pointed at for selling older games at price of brand new games, LOL.
If ya'll are mad blame Nintendo. They been getting away with putting out lazy ports for $60 for YEARS. DKC Tropical Freeze $60. Super Mario 3D All Stars where they couldn't even bother to change Super Mario 64 from 4:3 ratio $60. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD $60. And people gobble this crap up selling millions of copies.
At least Sony puts work into their remasters/remakes by usually making the visuals a lot better and adding new content. I'd rather pay $60 for that then what Nintendo does. Sony, just like any other publisher, is going to see others getting away with it and follow suit.
@DennisReynolds ok now I know you’re just trolling so it’s been fun but time to move on have a nice day
@DennisReynolds I need to reinstall Atlas Fallen. I upgraded it and it played well enough, I was just feeling really cynical when I last played.
@Gremio108 Good points!
Love Until Dawn, but I hope this one fails Sony’s expectations hard. Jim Ryan greenlit some of the worst decisions the brand has ever seen toward the end of his tenure.
@PSfan4Life22 Not that I'm defending Nintendo & their BS, but most of their games are highly replayable.
Most of Sony's games just arent, even with the extra work added. Just my opinion though.....
That's more than what I paid for the original. And I preordered the original. Can't remember how much I paid for it, but I never bought a game for 60£ or close to.
I had a quick look, I still have my receipt. I paid £39.85. So having to pay £20 more for the same game, is definitely taking the piss.
@nick_dizel The complaints about prices are everywhere even though it’s technically the cheapest time ever to be a gamer with the subscription services, deep sales constantly, and even just adjusted for inflation.
@Ichiban There is nothing more replayable about Luigi's Mansion 2 HD or DKC Tropical Freeze than the games Sony makes. You beat what's there and that's it unless you want to start it over again.
Lol. Just why, no I mean really now, a remake of a PS4 game?
It is not even like they added a boatload of content or something. I really don't see why the price is what it is. Its not like the PS4 ver. looks offensively bad or something.
I just do not get it.
I forget this one exists -> problem solved
horror games are my favourite but no way will i be buying this at that price most i would pay for this would be £25 even thats pushing it p*ss take!
@Ichiban I'm pretty sure i got more hours of playing time with Uncharted, TloU, Helldivers, Shadow of the Beast, GOW, Wild Arms, LBP, GT, or Dark Cloud compare to Zelda OoT / Link's Between World, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Yoshi's Island, or Super Metroid.
Not saying those Nintendo games are bad, in fact they are amazing. But i never feel many Sony games are lacking replay value. Heck, even for "movie games" like Until Dawn, Detroit, or Heavy Rain, they have high replayability with different action and outcomes. I'm sure plenty of people who finished Until Dawn for the first time doesn't get all characters survived ending, either some are dead or only one survived. Thus it require a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th playthrough to get all ending.
@LikelySatan lol cheers. I don't want to dump on it too much because I enjoyed the game first time around, but it has to be said, a lot of the framework is already there. We are seeing an increased amount of games being rereleased with a lick of paint and it's very hard not to be cynical about it.
£60? LOL
Just buy the original for pennies instead.
I don't know what I'm more afraid of, the Wendigo or Sony's pricing strategy.
Should be £50 but Sony refuse to do the whole $/£ conversion to skim profit off UK consumers instead. Most other devs have the decency to do the conversion.
The game nobody asked for
Thats what happens when youve got no competition. Sony is killing xbox/microsoft and nintendo isnt really in the same game. I hate it when sony wins because they get lazy and try to f… their fans
@Max_the_German not at all, what reason is there to create this game to "learn"? A sequel is going to be similar in tone and gameplay, they aren't going to spend the money for a team to play around, they'd just skip to part 2.
The fact is Sony thinks it'll make money, and that is why it exists.
How much?! .....next joke sony !
@Cry_Zero Sony's game prices are far superior to those of other companies, this is no surprise but it's going to be a real blow.
@Scottyy I am playing the remake of Last of us on PC and it's amazing and well worth the money. I don't own another PC game that looks as good even.
I played it I loved it but I really struggle to return to these games when I know what will happen I know you can manipulate it to an extent but It is t enough for me so I wouldn't pay for it again despite loving the original
