Filming on Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Movie Has Wrapped 1

You could be forgiven for forgetting there’s a Watch Dogs movie on the way, but shooting has concluded so please look forward to it. The flick – which is being created in collaboration with New Regency – has been on the agenda for over a decade, but only entered full production in July. It’ll star Australian actress Sophie Wilde in a currently unannounced role, alongside Billy the Kid’s Tom Blyth.

Obviously there’s still a long road until release, with post-production likely to take at least another year, but we suspect this will see the light of day at some point. What makes this a little unusual is that the Watch Dogs franchise appears to be on hiatus for the time being, after latest entry Watch Dogs Legion largely disappointed, both critically and commercially.

It’ll be interesting to see whether director Mathieu Turi can inject some life back into the series, and avoid another Borderlands-style flop. To be fair, there is reason to be positive: video game adaptations aren’t quite the disasters they used to be, and franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and The Last of Us have proven the medium can still work in a live action format.
