Helldivers 2 players have been clamouring to face the Illuminate since the game launched earlier this year, with the technologically advanced civilization posing a serious threat to Super Earth in the original Helldivers. Briefly, scanners picked up the presence of an unidentified force on the Galactic War map, but Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has dismissed these panicked reports as "fake news"
On Reddit (thanks, PC Gamer), for just a few minutes, the Galactic War map registered five southern sectors as being occupied by an unidentified force. In-game, the developers waved this all away with one of its trademarks and disturbing dispatches:
"Some Helldivers may have noticed a recent service outage in the Major Order Communication Display. The issue has since been resolved. Cause: Organic tissue degradation on electronic equipment. Discussion: Comms. Technician #R-2342 became stranded in server farm. Cause of death: exposure. Resolution: Electronics replaced. Family of deceased fined for damages."
