Fresh off the news of the game's unprecedented flop and subsequent removal from sale, Concord's remaining player base appears to be taking the easy way out; in pursuit of the game's Platinum Trophy and easy XP gains, Concord players are now committing suicide en masse, resulting in darkly humorous scenes.
On X, content creator Radec highlighted the optimal way to earn XP, with players intentionally tanking matches by leaping to their doom. This phenomenon was corroborated by Washington Post journalist Gene Park, and it seems like the game is locked in a death spiral of a new and entirely literary kind. It's certainly a fascinating way to spend the game's dying moments; so long, Concord, we barely knew you.
Are you racing towards Concord's Platinum Trophy by any means necessary? Is your head still spinning from the news? Come back down to solid ground in the comments section below.

I am glad I don't care enough about trophies to do this lol
I love a platinum dropping but this seems ridiculous
This is kinda fitting but disturbing
Kinda reminds me of an exploit in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 that I remember doing to get XP really fast. If I remember right, it involved the player triggering an infinite respawn with the enemies.
Good times lol.
I get the mindset. This will be a crazy cool platinum to have in the collection in a couple years time. Doesn't reflect particularly well on the level of fun the game offers though.
Some people are addicted to trophy hunting. It’s kinda why Sony ended the platinum trophy rewards program back in the day. Dudes were playing games like Barbie just to get a platinum trophy for the bonus.
PlayStation fans will give up their firstborn for a gold trophy.
I don't even want to know what they'd do for a platinum.
Looks fun lol
@HotGoomba Think you have your answer already, play Concord.
I respect the hustle, Godspeed you crazy rascals.
The Plat seemed like an easy but long grind. Little did anyone know, it came with a two-week deadline.
Please help me, I’m not sure that I get this right:
You collect XP by committing suicide? Is this normal in these Hero shooters, or just bad game design?
If this would be the case with Soulslikes, I‘d be maxed out in a blink.
@Max_the_German Any kind of easy boosting that requires you to intentionally frag yourself is bad game design because it will most likely lose your team the match.
This is not a good game lol.
I don't blame them, when you consider the very real possibility that they'll just can the game forever and the trophy list will become forever unobtainable (despite the announcement's implications that the game may return in a different format).
Less than three days of prior notice to complete a game this grindy is pretty bollocks, but then again it's not like they were thinking of completionists when they settled on the shutdown date.
This is how developers envisioned people should play the game
Ironic the game gives you more XP for doing character in its like a secret message from the Devs we knew this game would be a flop and it's on death
@AhmadSumadi I think the problem was that they were giving awards to people who were cheating big time and everyone else getting trophies legitimately was getting upset over it.
I’m a trophy hunter, for the fun and challenge, but not a completionist (if a game or list isn’t fun I just move on, which is why I only have a 41.37% completion rate). I am sympathetic to those who want to maintain a 100% completion rate however, and if there is a way to get it (or close) within a scant few days then I admire them attempting it.
"..it seems like the game is locked in a death spiral of a new and entirely literary kind"
@Khayl In what way is what they are doing directly related to literature? I don't understand the reference.
You got 15000xp for completing a match in Rivalry, where other modes just 4000xp towards rep.
Though this doesn't help towards the elimination trophies as you've not got time to eliminate anyone and slow for character XP as not using a heal pad or whatnot.
People seen doing this are like level 69 and need to get to level 100 by Friday for one last trophy.
I mean what else can you expect from people who actually went and bought this crap?
@MrSensical
Not sure I'd consider anything from anyone who paid for this as cool lol
To be fair this would be kind of an interesting platinum to have since...well...you know. I wish them luck!
This game is like a comedy routine that won't end
Trophy hunters are pretty cringe.
I don’t see any point in trophy hunting.
But I guess for those that do it will be a rare one to get.
@BetaRabbit64 it’s gonna be a rare platinum
@Arnna you’re using that word wrong
@IamJT …no, it’s pretty accurate here. They’re very cringe.
This. Is. Hilarious.🤣
I mean can you write a better ending to this game’s story than - and for its final few days the game became a suicidal death cult with people just killing themselves for a trophy.
I hope they work that in as a post credit scene in the upcoming tv episode.🤣
@AhmadSumadi I was one of them on PS4. They really shove it in your face on that console and it triggered my OCD for a long time, so I stopped playing. The interface of the PS5 is much nicer as it hides them unless you hover over individual games. It's much less an itch now for me, I only bother doing them for games I want to.
Game communities are fascinating sometimes.
Sounds fitting for people who bought this.
How funny would it be if they patched in walls...
@Jayofmaya similarly, I’d skip a game if I deemed the platinum trophy unattainable. Even though the things are practically worthless.
You do what you gotta do for the platinums sometimes. 🤷♂️
I will do anything for (Trophies), But I won't do that (Concord).
@IamJT I think people who type or say "cringe" out loud actually make me cringe. I wish people would just have opinions & say why they didn't like something instead of just parroting memes.
I almost got the platinum for dead space on ps3. Just had to finish my play through on the hardest difficulty. It’s also the only game I beat numerous times in a short time frame. I just don’t care about trophies. When people beg Nintendo for a trophy system I just really hope it never happens. I don’t want to play games just because it’s gonna give me a digital pat on the back lol
LOL, the only game ever that gives you a platinum for griefing. Could they just kill it now? Why wait until next week?
@riceNpea Yeah I noticed that. I think he meant to say 'literal', unless it's a reference to an upcoming Concord novel, in which case colour me excited.
@Gremio108 you're probably right. He makes so many errors in his articles I don't think he bothers proofreading, from what I can tell. Or respond to feedback.
@Czar_Khastik the one time telling someone to go kill themselves is actually a good thing 😂
Plot Twist: That's the canon ending of the Concord story. The Northstar crew are possessed by a Lovecraftian eldritch entity, which commands them to throw themselves off a cliff.
Don't care for trophies but in some cases having a platinum for games that die, and especially this one having a short lifespan it is a trophy/achievement in itself.
It's very much a story to tell the grandchildren. "Grandpa/ma, how did you get that trophy?". "Ah well it went something like this kiddo for this game called Concord that only lasted 2 weeks, we had to find these strategies to beat it in time you see". XD
That or the players creating their own story with what's left of the game.
So good on those going for it even if by ridiculous measures.
Like those that stayed on the Nintendo network when it shut down.
