Following an official trademark registration from SEGA last month, a Facebook page for Yakuza Wars has been found, lending further legitimacy to it being the real deal. The kicker for fans, though, is it appears to be a mobile game rather than the next big console release. BBGame is listed as the publisher, which makes mobile titles.
The Facebook page in question also includes a description of the game, via Google Translate: "Sega's first officially authorized mobile game: Dragon Among Men, as a new classic gangster-themed masterpiece on mobile phones, it creates innovative strategic war gameplay. Here, you can fight side by side with classic characters such as Kiryu Kazuma, Kasuga Ichiban, and Majima Goro, and write your own legendary story in the underworld world." Whether Yakuza Wars is the "surprising" new game RGG Studio has mentioned in the past isn't clear, but at this point, it seems real.
You can view some artwork in the tweet below, with fans pointing out how some of it could be AI-generated as Kiryu's cigarette appears to stick out of his chin rather than his lips:
RGG Studio has announced an RGG Summit showcase will take place on 20th September 2024, where it's expected to share news of fresh titles in the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series. It now seems likely Yakuza Wars will be one of them. If it's real, would you be willing to give it a try? Let us know in the comments below.

When I first heard the name I was expecting a mobile version of the Clan Battle minigame from 6. Seems like even that was wishful thinking
Figured as much, making a full fledged Yakuza game using strategy as the main gameplay wouldn’t have sold well. We’ll probably see more about this with the RGG summit on the 20th.
Wait! Don't worry Liam, mobile games aren't all bad! I think Sammy is writing an article about it this weekend 😊
Oh thank God, I thought this was supposed to be a simple console game
If it's true I will try it... Ngl not very enthused.
The title definitely sounded like a mobile game. I'm probably not going to bother with it.
Hmmmm. I'm not sure about this one but let's wait and see. Not a big Mobile gamer though!
I'm fine if this is a mobile game since I won't play it. I'm still holding out hope for another Judgment to be announced alongside whatever is next for LaD.
I care for nothing else other than the next Judgement game.
do you guys not have phones?
Didn't Sega learn when they released a mobile game sort of sequel Alien Isolation I don't think that did any good and fans were annoyed they didn't give it a sequel. That game is amazingly terrifying and yet Sega blew money on that online FPS game that got finished but they canned it, they would have made money on a Alien sequel I'm telling you.
Can't wait to play a LAD mobile game that has 20 different versions of Kiryu! 😏
>Sega's first officially authorized mobile game
I'm pretty sure there already were LAD and Sakura Wars gacha games. Or they weren't official enough?
Well, that’s hugely disappointing. Gone from the usual must play to not even consider.
Wasn't RGG Online the first?
The art is not good but legit... just cause kaz has his cig lowered doesn't mean it is growing out of his chin. The fingers are alright as well, which is usually what ai struggles with.
I'm sure we'll have a proper game announced around tgs. This might be a rehash of that Japan only mobile game, then again these licensed mobile spin offs all look the same.
Absolutely on board if its good.
We already get a new Yakuza almost every year, sometimes 2 in 1.
So having a game I can play on the go too will be great.
Guys, this game is 4 years old and has been in full swing in Asia this entire time.
" a new classic gangster-themed masterpiece on mobile phones"
"...underworld world..."
IDK if AI made the pics but it certainly wrote the summary.
@Dalamar And wasn't Sonic 4 mobile-only at launch?
I dont play on mobile for the people who ask don't you have phones.
@Dalamar Possibly means it's the first mobile game in the Like a Dragon franchise ("Dragon Among Men" here represents 人中之龍, a Chinese paraphrase of Ryu ga Gotoku which has been used for previous releases of the games in that language) that's been made under licence rather than internally developed. You're quoting a machine translation from Chinese, remember.
@Czar_Khastik let’s pray it’s a multiplier shooter next
