Underwater survival/sushi restaurant management sim Dave the Diver was a pleasant surprise for many. Since its launch, developer Mintrocket and publisher Nexon have occupied the unlikely hero with all manner of collaborations. Creator Jaeho Hwang teased more nourishing, substantive story DLC in the future at Gamescom Asia, and additionally, he wants to tell Dave's backstory, along with that of its principal NPCs, through future games.
Speaking to VGC, Hwang said: "I want to expand Dave the Diver IP itself. I think that’s every director’s dream, since we have a relatable character. But actually, we didn’t go really deep into the personal stories in Dave the Diver, because we wanted to keep the game very casual."
The studio head goes on to say that "besides the story DLC that we’re working on right now, I also want to make separate games about each character to show how they met and what they did before coming to the Blue Hole", and muses about using the opportunity to explore different genres.
