One of gaming's most iconic performances is David Hayter's voice work for Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series. While he was replaced by Kiefer Sutherland in MGSV: The Phantom Pain, Hayter's turn as the beloved character is held in very high regard.

He's not played the part for well over 10 years, but the actor and writer is seemingly back in the saddle.

On X, Hayter says he's been "in the booth ... Playing a role I've not played, since..." and follows this up with a GIF of Naked Snake. It's not too difficult to put 2 and 2 together here.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development, but the original audio from the PS2 title is being used for the remake, so it's likely Hayter is referring to something else.

On his IMDB page, Hayter is credited with voicing Solid Snake in an upcoming fan-made film titled Sonic Villains. The film might be using old clips, but it's also possible Hayter is recording new material for this.

Beyond that, with Konami taking a step back towards game development, we suppose it could be possible he's reprising his role for something official. We'll have to wait and see to find out.
