PS5 Pro is set to arrive in a little over a month, trumping the current console with a souped-up GPU, AI-assisted upscaling, advanced ray tracing tech, and more. While the asking price is pretty steep, many PS5 games will be taking advantage of the new hardware, and it's a list that continues to grow.
The latest addition is Diablo 4, Blizzard's latest ARPG. The confirmation comes courtesy of the publisher's senior vice president, Rod Fergusson:
Responding to a fan's question, Fergusson says the game will "indeed be PS5 Pro Enhanced". This includes Diablo 4's upcoming expansion, Vessel of Hatred.
He stops short of sharing any details, saying these will come "at a later date".
As far as we're aware, this is the first Microsoft-owned game to confirm enhancements for PS5 Pro.

This one is interesting because Blizzard is a Microsoft owned studio. It will be interesting to see how the Xbox studios treat PS5 Pro.
@themightyant
Also does that mean all new releases on PS5 going forward have to be enhanced for PS5 Pro.
I can’t remember what happened with PS4 Pro.
I think most big games and companies did PS4 Pro enhanced version.
Guess it’s on a game by game basis.
I am playing this on PC since I am “old school” (played D1 on release). Always wondered how are the controls on a game pad. Good to know that more and more games will be enhanced for the Pro. Wanted to buy one on launch, the price was too high for me but good for everybody that is buying one.
@themightyant
That will be very interesting, because we could have a situation where PS5 Pro games Indy and Doom, console wise are better on Pro.
I think Microsoft won’t care as they do it in PC, usually the best version over consoles, and they have sort of moved away from trying to be king console.
@OldGamer999 Sony stipulated that all PS4 games should support (where applicable) enhanced features (usually resolution or frame-rate) on the PS4 Pro.
Not seen any such stipulation for the 5 Pro?
Cross gen titles are going to be fun going forwards with PS4 base/PS4 Pro/PS5 and now PS5 Pro levels of game look and feel!
Nice. I'll wait for the Pro before getting the expansion.
@themightyant
I would have said a bare bones enhancement so they didnt show just how much more advanced Pro is compared to series X, but a few of their PS5 releases out performed series X already, so it will be interesting.
@OldGamer999 I believe Sony mandate that there must be a PS5 Pro version of all games releasing after it, though it's up to developers how much effort they put in, similar to Series S on Xbox.
@sanderson72
Well I’m hoping for less cross generation games and full focus on the new consoles. Especially the big hitter games, which we are starting to see now.
I mean four years soon.
@themightyant
Wonder if Pro will get an enhanced patch for this years COD.
@OldGamer999 thats right. Also what has been up with Phil when he was investigating why people prefer PS5 over Xbox... is he really that stupid? Honestly everyone knows whats selling consoles... for sure not his blabla about Gamepass and the 1 Million indies.
@OldGamer999 I am sure it will 😀
I don't believe Phil was looking to see why people prefer PlayStation over Xbox, @ORO_ERICIUS. What he was trying to establish is why developers prioritise PlayStation, or entirely, skip Xbox...
@Fiendish-Beaver Logical when you think about it. a vicious circle...
I said this would be a problem for Microsoft and their multiplatform approach. Gamers will gravitate to where games play best, and if you are not a heavy consumer of Game Pass games, then with the release of the Pro, the place where games will be performing best (for at least the next couple of years) will be PlayStation.
I'm sure, to some extent, Microsoft won't mind that people would rather buy the likes of Indiana Jones on the PlayStation over playing it on the Game Pass, because that means they will make more money. However, that will only be reflected in the short-term, because long-term it will see people buying a PlayStation over an Xbox in even higher numbers. That in turn means there will be fewer Game Pass subscribers because owning an Xbox and having Game Pass go pretty much hand-in-hand. And there will be a tipping point at which Game Pass becomes unsustainable. As it is, the third-party games that the Service has received in recent months has noticeably dipped both in quantity and quality, and so it could be argued that we are already see that tipping point in full affect.
Now, with the likes of Diablo, it's an established franchise on the PlayStation, and so it can easily be argued that not putting the game on Sony's platform would have been a disservice to the games fans. However, when it comes to Indiana Jones, Microsoft took the decision to put the game on to their rivals platform, knowing that the Pro was coming, and that it will undoubtedly play better there than on their own consoles.
It's a massive act of self-harm that Xbox (in terms of consoles, and potentially Game Pass) that they simply will not recover from...
@Fiendish-Beaver
At the end of the day if Microsoft want to sell games on other devices including PS5 and PS5 Pro they need to make them worth buying.
Publishing games is a massive but extremely competitive market.
It’s no good Microsoft going in half arsed and getting nowhere what’s the point.
If they go in half arsed then that idea/project will fail and Xbox will another disappointment on their hands.
Just great. Pre ordered PRO and only good news. Rebirth finally will be good to play. Stellar Blade replay maybe. D4 expansion is ready to go too. As much it is expensive, games are pouring in with Pro Enhanced ready.
@Fiendish-Beaver
Well that’s obviously.
The developers need a return on their investment.
And Xbox with a low user base and uptake on buying new games from other developers, the developer may not make a profit when putting the game on Xbox consoles.
It’s simple business investment over return on investment.
Duck knows why Phil has to ask them that.
Anyway I left Xbox yesterday, got £300 for series x, can’t be bothered with them anymore.
If they actually manage to produce a great AAA, maybe Indy or Doom, then I will buy it for PS5 Pro and get the best version.

Cool. Blizzard can now rip me off in 4K.
@OldGamer999 yep yep that were the facts that I left xbox too from beeing a xbox Fan from day one. They want... but they simply cannot deliver. Golden days of the 360... its over.
@Fiendish-Beaver easy they are paid off
I don’t think Microsoft have any problem supporting ps5 pro, they consider pc to be part of the Xbox ecosystem so would argue that their games play best on the pc platform not ps5 pro. Obviously, this is just a PR spin on the fact that ps5 pro provides the best console experience for Microsoft studios games.
Don't know why anyone would bother playing this trash, overpriced customisation just like overwatch and the worst content drop system i have ever seen which is something considering how much i detest helldivers 2 warbonds and destiny's rancid scam vault, blizzard expect you to make a new character each season pretty much making them worthless, making the story and game just a whole waste of time.
@ORO_ERICIUS
Wow I was Xbox day one original Xbox all consoles as well.
So sad really from the xbox360 console and games glory days.
And if their studios release an amazing big AAA then that’s good and I can pick it up on PS5.
@OldGamer999 one last bash from me... they are selling a white Series X digital now for the same price than a regular Series X with discdrive hahahahahahaaaaa sorry. Who in the hell is the Marketing CEO? Well. I am really sad about this. Loved Halo, loved Forza, loved Gears. Game over
@ORO_ERICIUS
In the UK the white series x discless £430
Still more than the discless PS5 slim at £390.
Not sure what they think they will achieve with this strategy.
I think their departments are too big and management may have lost the way.
We know interdepartmentally communication is not great.
@Deityjester no one is limiting your option to play eternal character...
@themightyant thats very interesting, i have over a 1000 hours in Diablo 4 on Xbox Series X. The Dolby vision makes it look so much better. But i will be buying it with the expansion on PS5 Pro now. I wonder if this means Doom dark ages will be Pro enhanced? Cause i would get that to on the Pro and not Series X
@LifeGirl they already did..diablo 4 ps5 is 4k...
So the best console to play XBox games on will be a PlayStation.
What a brave new world.
@OldGamer999 If I understand right they HAVE to have a PS5 Pro version if it's on PS5. How much effort they put in is another thing.
That said im not actually sure Microsoft will be so petty. They’ve already conceded the power advantage by not having a Pro model, and their service is more about breadth of places to play (console, pc, mobile, tablet etc) than it is pushing the top end.
@OldGamer999 wow yeah maybe COD as well, i was thinking Doom Dark Ages would be a great Pro game. As for Diablo 4 the easiest thing to do would be give us the ray tracing mode but keep it at 60fps vs the now 30. I’d be happy with just that but if they do even more than heck yeah. Happy i got a Pro pre ordered now. Red Dead, Diablo and Gears of War are my main IP’s i put 1000’s of hours into. If those all run best on Pro that is where i will be playing them at. Then when the next gen Xbox comes out i will be back to playing them on that. Haha
@ORO_ERICIUS why are you lying? Series X in Microsoft store 479£. White Digital Series X 429£.
@HonestHick
Lots of great games coming up all being well.
Will be interesting to see what Xbox does next.
I’m still not totally convinced we will see another one or what it will be, time will tell.
Anyway good news on my slow internet.
Went to a 5G no line router and I’m getting about 200mb/sec. So all happy now. No more 6mb/sec.
@themightyant
Also if they don’t make the games the best then they won’t sell and it’s in their best interest to sell the games.
Guessing that’s what they want to do, I thought they wanted to sell Xbox consoles, but I got that wrong.
@REALAIS not in germany. Both 499,99€ strange
It’s so utterly mind blowing that PlayStation is now the best place to play Xbox games.
@OldGamer999 The thing is it doesn't have to be either/or. They can BOTH sell Xboxes to people that want to be in that ecosystem, playing across a broader range of devices, getting games included on Game Pass AND sell on PlayStation, PC, Switch etc. They are playing by different rules, and will likely do far better financially doing this than trying to compete directly with entrenched brands like PS & Nintendo. "Consoles sold" is just one metric that they tried time and again to compete on and came up short, hence it's smart to switch strategies.
@ORO_ERICIUS go kick the Microsoft to lower the price. I would only accept same price if Digital would be with 2TB. But at same price, it feels very bad.
Can't wait for Skyrim Super Duper Ultimate Pro Edition.
Microsoft sells game on PlayStation 5 and gets money.
Microsoft sells game on Xbox and gets money.
Microsoft sells game on PC and gets money.
Microsoft makes a PlayStation 5 Pro patch and gets money.
Honestly, who's really winning this non-existent war when the one you all seem to hate so much continues to make money in a lot more places?
Sure, Sony's exclusionary tactics might sell more consoles and PS+ subscriptions (Go Team Blue!), but clearly, it's becoming unstainable for Sony as it has to looks at other ways to make up the massive amounts of money it spends on development and advertising.
It's only a matter of time before Sony goes "Day and Date" on other platforms. Well, unless Sony wants to charge customers $80 for controllers, sells the next console for $850, and charges $90 for games.
Heck, even third-party publishers are either pulling out of platform exclusivity all together or only doing timed exclusives. Game development is just too expensive - for the types of games Sony makes - to be locked to one platform (no matter the sales ratios).
@GamingFan4Lyf Somehow you forget that Sony makes 30% of any digital purchase in its store. Playstation wins more and more when Xbox puts all new games on Playstation with some delays.
Sony is not operating on loss.
@themightyant
I totally agree with you sell on as many devices as they can, it seems that’s what they wish to do.
But always remember they need to make great games to sell them. Of course we know COD and Minecraft do well.
But they need to start making amazing games if they want to sell the others on other devices.
Apart from Forza Horizon this generation I can’t think of another Xbox studio game I would buy.
I tried Redfall, Forza and Starfield on GPU and they are worth zero to me.
If Indy is like those games I won’t buy it. If it is top AAA then I will get it on PS5.
That is why GPU is not worth it to me or an Xbox console now.
Not enough great games from Xbox studios and if they actually manage to make an amazing game say Indy or Doom or fable then I buy for PS5.
I then get the best of all worlds and probably the best versions on PS5 Pro.
@GamingFan4Lyf
I have no war with consoles, have had every Xbox console day one.
Mine is just the simple logic below that works for me.
I totally agree with you sell on as many devices as they can, it seems that’s what they wish to do.

@REALAIS It's not operating on loss, but it certainly isn't getting the gains it wants either - otherwise it wouldn't care about going raising prices and putting games on PC/Switch.
There is no winning, by the way, only corporate money earned.
Sony gets $21 and Microsoft gets $49 (for a $70 game). So, Microsoft makes more than Sony. And that doesn't include selling on its own platform - where it gets 100%. Sales on Steam. Sales on Epic. Sales on Switch (where applicable).
Microsoft gets the vast majority of the money from all these platforms.
Plus, by being "day and date", Microsoft can ride the coattails of the initial (lack of) advertising and hype (assuming there is some), rather than unceremoniously releasing on another platform.
At the end of the day, Sony (Nintendo, and Microsoft) only care that we continue to shell out money for their products for profit. Microsoft is just making more of it by no longer being exclusionary.
It's money Sony will want to chase one day and all this console chest-thumping will end.
@ORO_ERICIUS microsoft sells Series X at 549,99€ at its homepage. If someone sells for 499,99€, then it is probably discount
@GamingFan4Lyf and where is Vat? 30% commision, 20% VAT, it doesnt keep a lot.
Ofcourse you want to sell game as many places possible. Sony probably are testing waters and collecting data and probably sees, that selling game on PC doesnt really affect console sales as much. Games cost fortune to make, you have to monetize as much as you can. People in general will not buy games for 100, so best is to look towards PC market. And its great, that games goes multiplatform in my opinion. I play mainly on PS, but I dont see that as proble if game goes to PC.
And Sony has lost so much money on potential live service games, it cant really afford to give nothing cheap. It is big corporation where Gaming is huge proffit and revenue maker.
@REALAIS I don't factor VAT because...well...VAT doesn't affect me in the United States - so it doesn't exactly come to mind.
Probably the reason why games are 70 Pounds in UK and $70 in United States despite 1 Pound being worth $1.31 - to account for VAT "losses".
@GamingFan4Lyf Completely agree with you on Microsoft's strategy. Less so on Sony's. As @REALAIS said Sony get 30% of each of those sales on their platform, but what you are ignoring when you say "Sony gets $21 and Microsoft gets $49" is that Sony's part won't have all the massive development costs.
Being a leading platform holder is definitely where Microsoft would LIKE to be, but as they aren't they are wisely shifting strategy for now and selling everywhere. It's the smart play, for where they are positioned, but make no mistake they would prefer to be in Sony or Nintendo's position of market dominance and just strengthening their grip on the market.
Meanwhile Sony has their own issues right now of spending too much for how much them make. While they are consistently setting record revenues, their profit margins are only 6-7% over the last few years.
@GamingFan4Lyf definately you are right with that. But look at gaming, it needs to sell so many copies to be viable, especially for called AAA gaming. Star Wars Outlaws sold 1 million copies and it is likely considered "flop" for Ubisoft. They refer "soft sales". No wonder everyone waits on R* GTA6 and hopes they will push for higher standard price.
@themightyant Of course Microsoft would love to be in their shoes, but it isn't, so it pivots where it stands to make the most money. Sony will too if the profits aren't big enough!
I think Nintendo has a good enough handle on development cost to sales ratios to last the longest without needing to look elsewhere. But I am sure it will happen for Nintendo eventually, too.
@REALAIS That's the whole point I am trying to make. Gaming costs are massive. Sony makes expensive games. When only about 10 - 20% of your market are your "core" audience - the rest are playing Fortnite, COD, [annual sports title] - you have got to look elsewhere.
Extra blur detail
I hope Cyberpunk 2077 gets a PS5 Pro patch.
@OldGamer999 congrats on better internet. It makes a huge difference. I love my gigabyte plan and it’s cheaper than it used to be which is really nice. I can all but guarantee there’s a next Xbox. They are deep into development on it. It’s coming, when i don’t know. Also think of this for as badly as we all get on them, they still already sold 30 million of these with more to come, same with Xbox one, screw up all they still sold 58 million. They ain’t going to just leave that money on the table. Especially with now owning all those studios. However today’s new made me so happy about my PS5 Pro. Hope we see a lot more games this year announce Pro updates to their games.
Hopefully Elder Scrolls Online gets a boost. Supposed to be getting a pro for my birthday (Thanksgiving Day).
