LEGO Pitched the Brilliant LEGO Horizon Adventures to Sony 1

There’s a strange, recurring sentiment within the PlayStation community that Horizon is getting too many games – but it’s LEGO who came up with the idea of LEGO Horizon Adventures. You may recall Guerrilla and the Danish brick manufacturer collaborating on an awesome Tallneck set a few years ago; this sparked an idea at the toy maker, and the rest is history.

“We were all fans of Horizon,” Kate Bryant, a project lead on LEGO-branded games, told the Washington Post. “So we had a direct conversation with Guerrilla where we came to the table and said, ‘Hey, this [Tallneck set] looks really cool, but you know what would be even cooler?’ We fully expected for them to go, ‘Yeah, that would be cool’ and nothing would come of it, but they matched our enthusiasm.”

Guerrilla turned to UK team Studio Gobo to co-develop the game. “We came from making smaller games and games for children,” lead game designer Toño Gonzalez said, adding that the Amsterdam first-party’s expertise has been invaluable. “They bring so much knowledge on how to make something larger than life.”

We think Guerrilla and Studio Gobo have done an outstanding job, because after playing 90 minutes of LEGO Horizon Adventures, we genuinely believe it could be the best LEGO game ever made. It’s tremendous fun – and it looks absolutely outstanding. Even better is that you won’t have to wait long to play it yourself: the game has gone gold, and launches next month.
