A major addition to PS5's UI was made in the last big system software update, adding a Welcome tab to your console's home menu. Initially only available in the USA, it appears that the new feature is now coming online in Europe.
Sony unlocked this neat new feature first for those in the USA, with other territories to follow in a phased release schedule over several weeks.
We've now seen several accounts on places like Reddit's PS5 page and ResetEra, stating the Welcome hub is now showing up in certain European countries.
Anecdotally, we've yet to see it here in the UK, though it will certainly follow suit soon.
The Welcome hub is a flexible new part of PS5's home screen, with numerous informative widgets you can customise to your liking. It gives you at-a-glance info on things like downloads and uploads, Trophies, who's online, controller battery charge, and plenty more.
Hopefully it's not much longer before the feature is live worldwide. Are you seeing the Welcome hub on your PS5 yet? Tell us in the comments section below.

Yes, I got it yesterday evening in Germany and it looks great.
Got it yesterday while in Italy: it is so convenient and it looks great.
Yo. Also reporting from the German front.
Can you turn it off?. Going from pictures an videos I've 0 interest in seeing it everytime I turn on my ps5
Next time a feature like this should really be implemented within the first year as they took so much out of the PS4
I didn't see it last night in Poland, maybe it'll pop up today since other places in EU seem to be getting it.
@ProfessorNiggle this. Never understand why it takes so long especially when alot of the features are on a previous console.
Is this a feature that can be turned off? Or atleast remove everything so it's the just the background fully on show?
This is weird, my PSN account and console is and was purchased in NA but now living in EU and I can't get the update.
Not yet I'm in the United Kingdom so it could come soon perhaps
Double tap PS to change between your last 2 screens. That's all I'm asking Sony, you utter incompetents
Im sorry but this took too damn long. How long have people been complaining about the user experience of this console now? Hopefully the PS6 has this at launch.
It does seem bizarre that this "rollout" is so slow
"certain" EU countries yet here I am wondering what the hell is going on 🤷🏾♀️ I'm not amused 😕
Also obligatory "Better be able to turn it off completely" I know where to go if I want to check my friends list and what they're doing, Trophies, Game specific stats are under each specific game etc. etc.
This is basically just a "Rebrand" of the Explore Tab that was NA Only? (I believe? It is actually there whenever I swap over to my NA PSN Account actually) Which is just a big ass advertisement at it's core, that's what they want it to be anyway... I really don't need another permanent Square added to my PS5 Menu... What I would like is to have more Games displayed (kinda like how you could "Unlock" the limit on PS4 so literally EVERY game installed would be displayed in a row on the Home Screen, which never slowed it down btw at least in my case, and I had HUNDREDS of games installed at a time) or even just the ability to "Lock" more than, what?, 5 games to the PS5 Home Screen too (they also need to remove the Wishlist Limit, Xbox and Switch don't have limits afaik)
Nothing in Canada
@Jswift56 limit what the console can do compared to PREVIOUS weaker generations yet take 4 years to bring some basic features and throw out probably one of the more iconic PS features which was the themes. PS and Sony need to do better for PS6 man.
I just checked my PS5 here in 'OL Blighty and no update. Us brits always get the updates later than the rest of the world.
It popped up on my Japanese account a few days ago. I like how you can use a screenshot as the background image. It’s the closest we’ll get to a theme this generation!
I'd consider having the option to see controller battery level, storage remaining and download status of game. These seem like useful things to have. Not interested in 'news' or 'adverts' or trophies or any of that stuff though.
It’s about bloody time too but I’m 🇬🇧 and still nothing
We’ve had this for a few weeks now in the US and I’ve been loving it ever sense,. Those who will be getting it soon, you’re in for a treat.
Not a big social gamer or trophy hunter but I do like being able to see the controller battery life and storage. The R1-L1 switching to see internal and MM2 is a nice touch. Both of mine are almost full, a reminder to uninstall stuff.
Still nothing in the UK
I'm in Ireland. Just booted up there and tumbleweed.
Sony likes to give the UK things last despite being the one of the highest profit countries for SIE.
So, like.. What's the point? I haven't looked into it too deeply when I got it but it doesn't seem suuuper customizable beyond the background image and I haven't seen anything I can't just access (almost) as quickly otherwise.
Legit don't see why people were excited for this.
Give us real folders and theme colours....how hard can it be?
@Dom_31 it’s pretty customizable, you can choose what widget to keep and their size.
Remember the days of the big UI 2.0 updates with rafts of new features!! And that was the PS3 days !! Sony are unbelievably slow at rolling this stuff out these days or is it just me?
A lot of people could have gotten it earlier by using the "System Feature Updates" in the system settings. It's a separate setting from the system update.
@Almost_Ghostly I did try that but it doesn't do anything for me
While it looks nice now I fear Sony might in the future use it for advertising just like Xbox have done on there horrendous dashboard
@McTwist that and screensavers....
Has this rolled out to the UK yet? I don't understand why it was a long rollout?
I just want to change my background
Still baffles me that someone at Sony looked at the PS4's UI and functionality and thought, "no we don't want THAT on our latest console!"
Old stager STILL blows the PS5 UI out of the water over 4 years later.
Sony have always been slow sending out updates (maybe PS haven't got the localisation people any more now they're 'mercains?) - just look at their smartphone updates, arriving, in some cases, months after other manufacturers!
Still haven't gotten the Welcome Hub in the UK yet
I have just got the Welcome Hub
So that means United Kingdom has received the Welcome hub
