Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 players accused developer Saber Interactive of pulling a Helldivers 2 with last week's patch, which allegedly nerfed the fun out of the game, increasing difficulty across the board. In a surprisingly short turnaround, a new patch will be deployed today, 24th October, which will revert many of the issues players have complained about. Director Dmitry Grigorenko acknowledged this learning experience: "The key takeaway for me, personally, is that I forgot that once the game comes out, it's no longer a dev's game. It's yours first and foremost."
IGN dives into the nitty gritty of the patch notes, but broadly speaking, weapons (particularly Bolters) are getting a buff, and baddies are getting a nerf. The unpopular "tight formation" system added for Lethal difficulty Operations is being removed entirely. Players had noticed that the dodge roll had been shortened; that's been fixed, but it was a bug, not a design decision. To prevent similar situations in the future, Public Test Servers will be introduced in early 2025, giving the hardcore the ability to provide feedback ahead of major patches.
