Released two months ago, Star Wars Outlaws has a new creative director, with Drew Rechner replacing Julian Gerighty in the top job. It's admittedly a pretty unusual move from Ubisoft and details are fairly light; following a soft commercial reception, it appears Rechner will oversee the game's upcoming story DLC packs, the first of which, Wild Card, is out 21st November.
The announcement was unceremoniously shared on X, with a dev update introducing Rechner, who "has recently taken the helm of Star Wars Outlaws as creative director." The new Imperial commander said the studio has been gathering data since launch and will focus on implementing feedback and continuing to grind down those lingering rough edges.
Gerighty isn't even mentioned, presumably having been frozen in carbonite or disappeared in Jabba's Palace. TheGamer dug deeper but found no outward reason for the replacement; Gerighty hasn't said anything on social media or LinkedIn, as is traditional in the video game industry. As the outlet suggests, it could be that the director has simply been moved to a new project, having previously led development on The Division 2 and The Crew.

@LN78 More like changing captains after the ship came out of the warf, crashed into the quay wall and got towed directly to the scrapyard
If the changes heavily improve the game, I might consider buying it in a year or two for 70% off.
The article subtitles are strong with this one.
I'm pretty lenient on post launch fixes and stuff but i dunno this time it feels pretty scummy even if i do like the game.
Make The Divison 3 as good as if not better than 2 Mr Gerighty.
They better fix the performance of the game, then think for dlc
I mean it's funny we live in an age where normal corporate changes, are headlines and because they don't give the full story it becomes headline news.
It's like we need to know the inner workings as to why this has happened in a business we have 0 to do with other than the actual product.
It could be a number of things. Maybe he felt it was time to move on. Maybe ubisoft thought it may be best to change things up.
Maybe he was only contracted for the launch and he's moved on.
Does it matter. No it doesn't, the game either gets better and sales become better or it doesn't.
I waiting to see what the PS5 Pro patch does.
Then just might pick this up.
are they go fix the terrible ai and glitches
Assuming they are staying on plan as announced to The Division 2 community this was always going to happen.
Mr Gerighty has moved back to The Division franchise as head of franchise or something to that effect.
He is overseeing The Division 3 but also the franchise as a whole.
They posted a video to that effect a few months or so back. If I remember and can find it I will post a link when I have time.
Edit: can't find the video but a news announcement on the Ubisoft site from a few months ago gives the details: https://news.ubisoft.com/en-ca/article/18oNmwEFQzGDu0TYVOAcJN/julian-gerighty-appointed-executive-producer-for-the-division-brand
@RiverGenie Crazy how you was able to find something easily online despite The Gamer supposedly digging deep on info haha.
Maybe finish your game first next time it's great it bombed. It's not the woke stuff it's just after a while people catch on and get sick of broken releases or you just went to far.
Too little too late.
@Sergo the performance isnt ok on ps5 for outlaws? I always use performance mode and want a smooth experience.
@Jtheripper hmm, it is not very good on my end. Especially on crowded areas.
@Sergo i see, too bad, i mistyped my comment, meant i want a smooth experience, not what a smooth experience, as i dont have the game yet.
@Jtheripper ahhh, you got me worried mate . Yes, it is not smooth unfortunately. In crowded areas is 50 fps or maybe hits 48... also it is clear that it is 1080p. Even upscaling is not good. Youd better wait for full fix and enjoy then. Also on lower price
