For those of you who still have an original PSVR headset kicking around, you may want to act fast if you haven’t ordered a PS Camera adaptor yet.
If you didn’t know, the PS Camera used a proprietary port on the PS4 which isn’t available on the PS5. Therefore, in order to connect the accessory to Sony’s current console, the manufacturer offered a free adaptor for everyone who owns one.
The adaptor’s been available for four years, but as of 26th November – or while stocks last – it will discontinue the device. That means, if you don’t already own one, you won’t be able to use the PS Camera on the PS5, unless you invest in a third-party option.
Remember, the PS Camera is required for PSVR, as Sony’s headset tracks your position using lights positioned around the unit.
You’ve still got a little over two weeks to place your order if you haven’t already, so we’d recommend grabbing one of these for posterity purposes if you haven’t already. You can order your free adaptor while stocks still last through here.

Thanks for the heads up 👍.
I will say, as sour as I am about the constant scalper debacles on Sony's Direct website, it was cool they offered this for free. For all 10 of us who have a VR headset.
Sony still pulls off a rare consumer friendly move every once in a blue moon.
I got mine for free but have never used it. With PSVR2 I’ve just been spoiled and don’t want to go through the hassle of setting up the original, even if it is still the only way for me to watch 3D films properly.
@thefourfoldroot1 I know the feeling - I love my PSVR2 as well, but I can assure you that when it took me to plug again my PSVR1 a few months ago, I was in for a threat
I replayed Astrobot entirely and it is still as awesome as the day it launched !
@Bobobiwan
Yes, Astro bot rescue mission is quite possibly the greatest game ever made. I hope Sony remake it at some point, or let someone else do so.
Wow, finally taking a breather from ps5pro shilling
@tameshiyaku Yeah how dare they report on a new Playstation console on the Playstation news site
I got a psvr recently and resold it within a week. It’s so dated and the setup is so painful, I just couldn’t take it anymore. Rescue mission was a good enough time though. PSVR2 is definitely a wonderful device! Just wish they’d port more of these old games to it
@babybilly right!? the irony of it just completely flew over my head! I'm clapping for your wit.
I love my PSVR1. It genuinely blew me away when I first got it and despite the dated tech and Move controllers, I'm still impressed with it.
I'm less happy with my PSVR2. I was suckered in because of my love of the first headset but am definitely regretting the £530 spent. No real first party games aside from Horizon shows how quickly Sony gave up on it.
I adore VR but the Quest 3 is now my main platform aside from PS exclusives. Arkham Shadow is my GOTY (VR and non VR games included).
I wish Sony would sell spares for the PSVR2. My car chewed the wire while I was playing a while ago, and although I have it all taped up again it still drops connection when my movements get too excited.
The connection wire can be removed and is separate, it's just got a proprietary connection to the headset that I can't find anywhere.
