The official patch notes point out that “when viewed from specific angles, the agent will appear faded”. As demonstrated in the X (or Twitter) video below, this effectively means that the character models disappear when you attempt to pan the camera beneath their skirt.
While we’re being somewhat facetious in our approach to this story, there are legitimately people angry about this. “Imposing censorship is a spit in the face to all loyal players,” one user wrote. Another pointed out that they’d spent money on the gacha to unlock these characters, and thus will be complaining about the alteration.
It’s true that Zenless Zone Zero has a more “adult” vibe than Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, and it has been known to indulge in fanservice. We assume this change could be due to age ratings issues, although that’s purely speculation on our part.
To be fair, the dev team has been immensely responsive to feedback thus far, so we can’t imagine it’ll take these complaints lightly. It’ll be interesting to see how it responds.
