CES, or Consumer Electronics Show, always feels strange coming so soon after Christmas, but the event will run next week, from 7th January to 10th January in Las Vegas. And on the eve of the convention, there’ll be Sony’s annual press conference, scheduled to stream from 5PM PST / 8PM EST on Monday, 6th January.
If you’re not sure what time that is in your time zone, we’ve put together a handy guide below:
- North America: 5pm (Mon) PST / 6pm (Mon) MST / 7pm (Mon) CST / 8pm (Mon) EST
- UK/Ire: 1am GMT
- Europe: 2am CET / 3am EET
- Asia/Oceania: 10am JST / 9am AWST / 12pm AEDT
You probably shouldn’t expect much PlayStation news from this event, however. Sony typically uses this convention to announce other initiatives within the company, like its AFEELA electronic car collaboration with Honda, or its latest line of cameras.
“At the world’s largest tech event we're excited to share our vision for the future of creativity and technology,” is what the company’s officially said about its broadcast.
The firm may provide a small update on PS5 sales, and in the past it’s announced projects like its Accessibility Controller. We suspect it may reveal updated sales numbers for some of its biggest titles, like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Helldivers 2.
But in reality, it’ll be more morsels of PlayStation news than full-blown megatons. To be fair, these pressers are always a nice breezy watch, and tend to provide a good opportunity to get a feel for the general direction Sony is moving in.
You’ll be able to tune in live on YouTube, and we’ll bring you any PlayStation adjacent news in the aftermath of the event, right here on Push Square.

I’m actually looking forward to this one, mostly because Lenovo will unveil a new gen of their Go handheld PCs and I’m strongly considering getting a Legion Go 2 if the specs are to my liking.
If the leaks are true, nvidia will officially reveal the rtx5000 series, hoping with a release date. Investing the money intended for the ps5pro into a new gaming pc and kinda hoping the new cards will be available before spring.
Not a problem. All news comes from rude randoms on reddit and X now anyway.
Thank you for this informative title! It could also have been a clickbate one like „That‘s what you can expect PS5 related from Sony‘s 2025 CES press conference“
@riceNpea Then they get proven wrong and pretend they didn't say anything, perfect example being Jeff Grubb saying the Wukong was an PS exclusive with only "trust me bro" source...
I really hope we get PlayStation news soon though. We at least know an Xbox showcase is on the way because MS said it was. The wait for Sony and Nintendo news has felt long. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m at a place where I just want to be able to budget my purchases for the next year and I can’t do that because there’s zero knowledge for what’s releasing beyond March. I’m almost saying, “No, I’ll hold off” on games I’d potentially buy in February due to speculation I might want to buy something else later, but I’ve also no confirmation those games will even come. In this era where games are failures if the don’t sell huge numbers at launch, that’s not a benefit for what has been announced either. It’s weird. Just give us sensible gamers the ability to know what’s coming, so we can plan on buying your games!
And some people would still complain that they didn't show nothing.haha.word up son
I normally keep in touch with the show and latest TV tech.
But when you have a Sony A95L 65” there is not much to get excited about.
Shoot out winner 2023 release year and 2024 against the new TVs of 2024.
Will be interesting if it can do it again in 2025.
@somnambulance
Yep Xbox have seem to have gone back to the old days with there showcases and the last one was really good.
Sony and Nintendo have been a bit ok ish in 2024 with theirs.
And if Nintendo don’t show some top pure in house quality AAA games for release with the Switch 2 then god knows what their studios have been doing.
@dardel might be shelling out $2k - $2.5k for the new GPus
Im in need of a new TV and i really are interested in what kind of Phone Sony is going to introduce a new Experia 5.
@dardel Good luck with the rumored prices you have 1/3 covered.
It'll be nice to see if Sony expands their InZone lineup of headsets and monitors.
@OldGamer999 I really just want to start budgeting for my gaming this year. I’d preorder Death Stranding and Ghost of Yotei now if I could because I know I’m going to get them, but the lack of certainty on release dates makes me wonder what I’ll actually play this year. I’m planning on budgeting for the Switch successor potentially too, but as of right now, the only games I know I want to buy this year, I don’t even know their prices. 2024 was such a frustrating year for the industry where it seemed more difficult to purchase games than previous years and the transparency continues getting worse. Man, do I miss the good old fashioned days of a release schedule. Ironically, Xbox is beating the competition right now with being transparent and, with Gamepass, I’m not even buying things, but using the service. Next year may just be a year where I play Gamepass most of the year for all I know!
@somnambulance Considering PS Studios has nothing for PS5 with a specific release date (just 2 PC ports) but they always have something for January - March, I think January State of Play is likely.
As for the January - March PS5 PS Studios release, my guess would be Days Gone Remastered in late February/March as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was announced only a month before launch.
@Grumblevolcano If they’re remastering more games, that will make my budgeting very easy indeed as I won’t be purchasing another one! I hope there’s a State of Play soon though. The rumors about Metal Gear Solid Delta launching in March have been flying for a while.
Apart from a sales milestone report (probably 75 Mio), you really shouldn't expect any PS5 news at CES.
@gollumb82 absolutely agree, my eyes are all on Lenovo. Both the legion go 2 and the new legion tablet sound promising.
@somnambulance
From my late PS3 days and the PS4 days Sony have got boring in a way from game release announcements and excitement.
The early PS5 days were good, but now they are in a pattern.
One major campaign AAA a year from their own in house studios and maybe dlc for another and remasters and that’s it.
Nintendo very quiet from in house AAA in 2024, so I’m hoping for a switch 2 AAA games explosion in 2025.
Xbox to give them credit seem to be getting in a good vibe now and look like having more big in house studio AAA games releasing on PS5 than Sony do.
Tvs are the only other thing I care about
@OldGamer999 Since COVID things have really winnowed down for the transparency in the industry. We used to know when games were coming out, whether that was a year or two or whatever. If something’s a 2027 title, that’s fine, say that. It’s first world problems, for sure, but I am an over-planner. Lol. I miss things being reliable.
@somnambulance
Yeah totally miss it as well, the knowing say and uncharted in 2026 and GOW 2026 and maybe an another big AAA for 2027.
Those PS4 days and live staged shows where the best ever days.
All hands will be there mainly from Nvidia and AMD new GPUs and some new Handhelds coming as well
I miss the days of E3 the calender was always set for me to then watch them all the next day (due to work) I loved it all watching the big 3 one after each then going through EA and Ubisoft well mostly skipping through those.
