We all look back very fondly on Sleeping Dogs here at Push Square Towers, and we're far from the only ones.

The 2012 action game set in the criminal underbelly of Hong Kong has long been requested to come back in some shape or form, and while we're no closer to a follow-up game, it seems a movie could be on the cards.

Responding to a fan on X, actor Simu Liu has said he's trying to get a movie adaptation of Sleeping Dogs off the ground:

Simu Liu has appeared in all sorts of film and TV, but is best known for roles in Kim's Convenience, Barbie, Arthur the King, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Sleeping Dogs had you playing as an undercover police officer named Wei Shen, infiltrating a Chinese crime syndicate. Proficient in martial arts and parkour, the game is beloved for its lively open world, punchy gameplay, and unique leveling system.

Assuming the story would follow the game's narrative, we reckon it would make a pretty good crime flick. They might have to call it something else, though, as a movie titled Sleeping Dogs released last year. Hopefully the rights holders play ball and Liu can get the project moving.
