Some Think GTA 6's Multiplayer Mode Could Be Sold Separately on PS5 1

There’s growing belief that Rockstar may sell GTA 6’s online multiplayer mode separately from its main single player campaign.

This wouldn’t be unprecedented for the label, as it already flogs standalone versions of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer modes. It tends to offer these at a later date, however, rather than at launch.

The theory is that Rockstar may be able to reach a great number of players with a cheaper, standalone multiplayer client. While the audience for the developer’s single player campaigns is massive, many just want to play online, and by offering a more affordable entry point it’d be able to grow its player base and make money on lucrative microtransactions instead.

There’s also a theory that Rockstar could present the two versions as a more expensive bundle, essentially achieving the $100 price point that’s been touted by industry analysts, although we’re sceptical of the publisher taking that path.

It should be stressed, none of this has been confirmed or even commented on by Rockstar, and remains online scuttlebutt until the company says otherwise.

We do think Rockstar will eventually sell its multiplayer mode standalone, although we’re not convinced that’s the path it’ll take at launch. Our guess is that GTA 6 will cost $70 for both its single player and multiplayer, although a more expensive Early Access version with additional DLC and cosmetics will be available at a higher price point.
