Having released just yesterday at the time of writing this article, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has moved 1 million copies right off the bat.
This kind of result seemed inevitable, given the game's explosive popularity on PC (which has been plain for all to see thanks to Steam's player tracking data).
"We're beyond grateful for your support," writes developer Warhorse Studios on social media. "Thank you for making Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a triumph!"
We don't really know how many copies the RPG needs to sell in order to make any kind of substantial profit — but it's clearly off to a very healthy start. This sequel was in development for roughly five years, and it's more ambitious than the first game in almost every way.
Speaking of which, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance — which launched in 2018 — has sold 8 million copies to date. There's still a long way to go, then, but we wouldn't be at all surprised to see Deliverance 2 make an appearance across various sales charts over the coming weeks — especially when positive word of mouth takes hold.
Still, it's a demanding, hardcore RPG — and that isn't for everyone. At least in a commercial sense, it'll be interesting to see how it fares over the course of 2025.

The hype is real 😁 Itching to go back to it but have to spend the day entertaining guests 😅
Good luck to it - im not sure its a game for me yet (too much 'simulation' / faffing / what ever you like to call it, in the original which just puts me off) - but its good to see such a polished SP game from a 3rd party.
@AndrewWilson
Going to get the first one on PS Store for £6 and see If its worth the hype now.
@Netret0120 the first one is a bit on the janky side a lot of the time and just like the new one requires a significant time investment to get anywhere both in terms of the story & skills.
@Netret0120 Will warn its very janky. You can tell it didn't have the type of budget the sequel had but its very charming and once you get the long prologue out of the way the world really opens up.
This game seems right up my alley... if I had the time. Perhaps if I could convince my Mrs to take a long holiday and find some way to offload some toddlers... hrmmm.
Go woke go brok- wait, what? It's an amazing game? Who would have thought?
Well deserved congratulations to the devs.
One million at lunch!!
@Lup wait, are there people saying this game is woke?
I can't wait to see the reactions of those anti dei dudes on Twitter. And I seriously need to get on the first one
@GymratAmarillo
"Far right says it is woke, far left says it is chauvinistic" - type of deal?
it's an awesome game, like Skyrim once you hit a village,byou can roleplay what ever
@GymratAmarillo
There were, because there's an homosexual romance scene.
Wait, the chuds even hate this game? I might have to move up my buying of the game then.
Looks great, not my kind of thing but I can recognise the quality from coverage I've seen. Well done to Warhorse.
I'm going to wait for a sale because the first game wasn't that good imho
Aww no looks like rpg's are going to be "the defacto" genre again this year too 🤣
@Strohl lol I was thinking the same!
Someone tell Mr Wilson you don’t need live service aspects to your game to make it a success, it just needs to be good!
@Jrs1 as they should be. EVERY YEAR!
@PorkChopExpress it is literally stunning and absolutely huge. I thought it'd be a mild upgrade in quality, despite positive reviews. From having apples that barely load textures on consoles to intricate artisan woven patterns on saddles and the image quality and resolution is unbelievable, you can stand 10cms away from a tv and it doesn't look gamey and jagged.
The change from cinematic portions to real world is barely noticable and the environments, something they've always done well, have so much more depth.
Everything good about the game itself, especially if you liked the first game, is just much better which I guess is why it's been said about it "that's how you do a sequel"
And with it having mostly branching quests with multiple solutions, events and sequencing, even side quests, rather than jist an A to B type affair, it's staggering work.
All I've done is wander around near-naked chatting to peasants, picking up information I can use later, and plotting how to survive 😁 and I know that is the bare minimum, considering how much more brutal the overall plot seems to be.
Amazing game that truly deserves success!
Loving it so far. Hans Capon is a proper choom yet utter smug gonk at the same time.
Just doing some combat training with Tomcat.
@ApostateMage Did you go full on
divorce level fall out in the stocks with Hans? I really played into the fact they had just had a really bad day, and now I'm sad I have to wait for an eventual chance to, hopefully, both apologise to each other for saying something they didn't mean
But I love it haha. Also, is there a thread in the forum yet? As with an RPG thos big, there really needs to be so people can compare notes on choices 😅
I promised myself not to buy games until I'm finished with the current one. This is actually the first time I upholded the promise 😅
@Ravix 8 hours in and still haven't even tracked down Mutt and Pepples yet, i keep aiming too but then something else comes along to distract me from that 😅 The game is The Witcher 3 level huge.
My biggest complaint so far is the text size. Other than that it's pretty much everything I wanted them to do so far
@Ravix My Henry had had enough of his snobbery so we fell out big time. I kind of miss him being around now so I ask about his whereabouts wherever I traipse.
Yeah, defo need a forum topic on this at some point. ⚔️

@DennisReynolds yeah I'm in work and all i can think about is continuing my adventure , great game
The last game I recall selling a million copies immediately is Metaphor ReFantazio
@DennisReynolds honestly I'm shocked how deep the gameplay and emergent questing is, even as a KCD vet. I don't think I've followed a single labelled quest.
With 5 groschen to my name (that I then doubled via dice and then lost again) I went for a half naked wander, gambled with some travelling circus folk, talked to a guy who lost a letter and beat him up on his own request to pass off that he was mugged hahaha
Went back to visit Bozhena as it was the only bed I knew of, via an inn who let me know about fist fighting tournaments, and all kinds of rumiurs for the local areas happenings. I couldn't afford to sleep there as it cost 12g. And since seeing Bohzena I've found a bandit with actual armour that I could take, and somehow i'm now on a massive detective quest that's letting me talk to even more people in the town.
The NPC's are an absolute wealth of information and I've already lined up a bunch of quests I'm going to try next, ranging from treasure, mysteries, and hilarious and petty town rivalries, before going to see if I can find, Horse, Dog, Bed and stable work for poor Henry.
In a way I'm a little disappointed that I found some decent to fair armour so early, so I'm saving it for travel into unknown areas. Detective Henry may have to wear trousers now, but he is still half naked and out of his depth in spirit 😁
Seems like well worth it. However I am not that much of an RPG fan so I might skip it. I prefer third person over first person unless it lets to change FOV on consoles...Crimson desert has more peak interest imo

@Wizzle08
?????
I don't know what the hell you're talking about, man.
I was referencing the people who complained about the game, making a big deal out of that scene and calling it woke.
Also, I'm not from the USA, so don't bring your politics into this, thanks.
@Ravix Haha yeah the letter guy stuff was fun. I'm ok on armour as i've been using a mix of the Gold Edition stuff and the Twitch rewards stuff. I agree the emergent stuff is fantastic, i found this old knight playing dice and played him and lost as he found far better dice so i decided to knock him out and take his disc 😆
@Wizzle08 Is that why you lot are having a meltdown over the option of making Henry have a gay romance? Even the Director of the game had called you lot out and he's right wing himself.
@DennisReynolds I'll probably forget at some point, but some random in passing mentioned a jakub or something that cheated him out of everything at dice, I won't say who told me as it was actually another random funny emergent moment. All i'll say is Hail Henry. But it sounds like another unmarked opportunity to find some good loaded dice to me.
I must go and get the doggy and train with a swordsman next though, but I'm literally on marker 'R' of a sidequest chain! 'R'!!!! and as we know parts are labeled alphabetically 😅 it's madness haha.
Audentes fortuna iuvat
The game has some visual jank right from the start but the story is so much better overall. The combat hasnt changed much (my main gripe from 1) but at least it's easier to pull the soft lock away from a target. And enemies so far don't have some silly 90% rng chance to auto perfect block and riposte.
So I see this game is making a lot of headlines, and I'm into it. Sounds like the kind of genre I'd be into. Anyone got a "if you like (game), you'll love Kingdom Come Deliverance 2" recommendation?
Looks fantastic! Glad it's doing well. But seeing as PS wants $100 for it digitally here in Norway I'll have to be patient and wait for a normally priced physical copy or a sale. 🤷♂️
Edit: OK, more like $90. But still, damn.
A flop in EA terms. 😅
Can anyone confirm these points please? Can you pause the game and can you save the game whenever you want?
@Throb Yes, by choosing 'savs and exit' and then 'continue', you can effectively do a manual save anywhere. You certainly aren't tied to having to find a bed or use a potion.
So I really don't know why people are making so much fuss about a restrictive save system or losing hours of progress etc. I've even read several reviews saying the same thing, which just goes to show how little they bothered to check or find out about the game.
My favourite game for a long time, and I say that as someone who often drops the difficulty level when I have the option! So the talk of how hard KCD2 is isn't right either.
@HappyGamerGirl I wasn't saying there was a restrictive system, i didn't know what the system they had was. Having the ability to pause the game and to save whenever is a really big deal for me and my quality of life
@Throb No I know you weren't, but that's why I was keen to explain more!
Lots of reviews out there are probably putting people off because they don't mention this way of saving and people rightly think they risk losing hours or progress. Sure, you're saving 'out of game' if you like, rather than the immersion of using a potion or a bed, but in practical terms it's the same, it's more flexible, and takes a couple of seconds.
Unsure why almost no reviews are mentioning it.
@DennisReynolds Got mine yesterday but have to wait till the first one arrives as want to play that first. Dreading how many hours I'll be sinking if I play back to back?
@Trapdoor First game is an easy 50 hours if you just focus on the main quest and a handful of side quests, double that if you want to do everything and the DLC.
