French publisher Nacon is teaming up with Edge of Eternity developer Midgar Studios on a new PS5 RPG, and it probably deserves more attention.
Edge of Memories is an action RPG with an anime flavour, and it’s packing a soundtrack featuring singer Emi Evans (NieR: Automata) and composer Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger). That’s some serious pedigree.
The story summary is filled with proper nouns, but basically all you need to know is that you play as Eline, and working alongside a ragtag group of teammates, you must bring an end to a cataclysmic event known as The Corrosion.

Unlike Edge of Eternity, the dev’s ditching turn-based combat and opting for real-time action instead.
“Your allies are the key to victory,” the blurb reads. “Customise your companions, and use their skills wisely to inflict more damage at crucial moments.” So, it looks and sounds like you’ll need to issue commands to your companions while also dealing damage yourself.
The release promises a rich open world to explore, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Despite the evident scale, however, there’ll be no “filler”, as the studio insists every quest will matter.
While there’s no official release date just yet, the title’s due out this year, with more information set to be revealed during Nacon Connect 2025 next month. Is this one you’re willing to add to your wishlist? Let us know in the comments section below.

Looks like totally unique gameplay, never seen before, can’t wait…
It looks great but I'm going to wait for the reviews and gameplay videos on YouTube as their last game (Edge of Eternity) wasn't the best.
@UltimateOtaku91 ahh I get it, I watched and read a bunch of reviews last year and thought meh indie studio, ambitious game, it's on sale, I'll support that. And tbh the reviews were all accurate but I still enjoyed the game a lot and platted it (astounding considering the bugs)
The world and plot were generic but cool, and I don't normally like grid based combat but it was really fun and extremely challenging in a lot of boss fights, the last one in particular. Definitely am going to grab this but unless the reviews say it's bug free I'm waiting a few months
For a second I thought it was Amaterasu but nah just a kitty or something
That was one stylish trailer. I am interested. Need to get back on to Edge of Eternity, too much stuff came out to play and I stopped a few hours in. Plus one of the NPCs had my name so I have to finish it
Ok I'm down for this looks good
World looks pretty, but we shall see about the game itself.
With the vo and artstyle they're definitely leaning towards Arcane, which is somewhat overdone imo, but why not I guess if the game holds up.
Looks pretty and Tales-styled fun, I’ll see how the reviews are - a great OST can only carry a game so far
Edge of Eternity was fairly enjoyable, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.
Look nice to me. Wishlist now
TBH looks like another open-world mobile game coming to all possible devices. Even though their overall quality improved in the last years, I am not that interested yet.
I'm happy for people who like and enjoy these kind of games but to me being a little ignorant about the genre, they all look the same to me and I don't see the difference between them all
Why is the frame rate like that. I hope it’s not like that in the game otherwise no buy
More rpg is nice, can't wait for this 😃
Looks right up my ally! Can’t wait to try this!
All I had to read was "Unlike Edge of Eternity, the dev’s ditching turn-based combat and opting for real-time action instead."
@wiiware my sentiments exactly!
I enjoyed the 1st game so looking forward to this
Looks good. Reminds me the most of Immortals Fenyx Rising but that’s probably only b/c I don’t play Genshin Impact. There does seem to be some weird stutter or some such, like they’re going for stop animation or claymation which I really don’t like, but maybe it’s just the video and not the game.
Don’t really know Edge of Eternity. Hopefully don’t need to play that one and it’s just your typical JRPG naming thing. Which reminds me I still need to play Visions of Mana or whatever the last one was.
I'm up for this, looks good.
Tales: Edge of Memories
Edge of Eternity was a decent tribute, but like a lot of these types of games felt pretty unoriginal and shallow. I have my eye on this one to see what all they've improved.
Is it just me or is the whole corruption/corrosion/blight thing feeling really played out?
I sadly don’t know anyone that managed to get further than a single chapter of edge of eternity due to boredom and visual bugs. Also they never really finished the game either.
The developer of Edge of Eternity abandoned the game with game breaking bugs. They still exist and you can't even finish the game in some cases. That's on top of all the other bugs which cause crashing. I wouldn't trust them at all to make another game.
Looks good, but there are plenty of good looking games that didn't make it. And computer controlled party members are a red flag for me, but maybe this time it will work.
This reminds me of gran blue fantasy. That game was really good for a few hours then just got soooo boring and the npc's were so bloody annoying and just wouldn't shut up. This does not look like it's bringing anything ground breaking to the table.
To be honest if they learned from their mistakes from Edge of Eternity. I would be willing to give it a chance.
Edge of Eternity was not good, far cry from the standard they put themselves into.
Ah, Nacon. No thanks. Not after what they pulled with Sinking City.
