Monster Hunter Wilds was the best-selling physical title in the UK last week, as its PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC launch saw the franchise begin to replicate the success Capcom experienced with Monster Hunter World. The franchise's first proper breakout hit in the West, it seems Wilds is already on course to follow it up with more sales than ever — and that is not even accounting for digital purchases yet.
While these physical sales will account for how Monster Hunter Wilds performed in the UK on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the PC version recorded some impressive numbers too. The game peaked on Steam over the weekend with 1.3 million concurrent players, which makes it one of the most popular launches on the PC platform ever. They're playing a title we consider a 9/10, with our own Monster Hunter Wilds PS5 review calling it "an outstanding action RPG at its core, and a worthy successor to the almighty World".
Elsewhere in the UK's top 10 for last week, golf simulator PGA Tour 2K25 debuted in third position, while the rest of the slots were taken up by the usual Nintendo Switch exclusives, FC 25, Minecraft, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Here's the latest top 10 in full, accounting for physical sales only.

I'm about 20 hours in and loving it.
How does Mario Kart 8 just keep selling, got to give it props forthe longest tail EVER.
Enjoying it but my god the story and characters are a bore and really drag it down at times. I wanna hunt not watch endless cutscenes and do forced follow stuff as characters talk about stuff i don't care about.
@Oram77 Yes, Mario Kart 8 is in the same ballpark with Minecraft and GTA5.
I'm struggling a bit with it. The story is so uninteresting. It's just making me want to play through World/ Iceborne again. Bare bones story at 60 fps.

lol Mario Kart
No wonder Mario Kart 9 is the first Switch 2 game we saw in that short reveal.
I put 20 hours into it over the weekend and it's by far the best Monster Hunter yet.
Started it up last night, it’s good. The combat and gathering and traversal all feel great. The story is typical MH cheese. Performance mode on PS5 Pro seems pretty smooth so far. I’m happy with it.
@DennisReynolds indeed. This is my first Monster Hunter. I got it to play online with friends. The story and dialogue is clearly for middle schoolers but the hunting and battle loop is great fun and this one is meant to be a lot shorter than the supposedly bloated other entries.
It is definitely the easiest MH to get into, but i wouldn't say it's the best. Especially with the performance and texture issues. The combat is a step back from Rise sunbreak but i guess that makes it easier for newcomers.
@DennisReynolds skip skip skip. That simple. I'm here to hunt not hear lol
@Nem gameplay is more complex than rise. Rise was the easiest and simplest console mh. This game so far is the better. Hard to compare to worlds as far as initial impressions. But wilds is great. But new hunters are finding it hard, while veterans are finding it easy, because we already know how to play and have the weapons we've mastered.
Great game. Rubss smooth mostly on base ps5. Unless gta 6 comes out this year, easy goty. Just remember, Everton before the credits is the tutorial.
Only had time to play a bit of it Sunday night. Defeated the big frog monster thing. I’ve had my fair share of MH games so I’ll more than likely dig deeper in this one.
I agree that the story and characters are a bit superficial, but at the same time such simplicity feels refreshing. I'm not sure a deep complex Shakespearean plot would have be in phase with the basic gameplay loop.
@Cutmastavictory Are you kidding? How is using 2 combos the whole game "hard"?
Rise sunbreak is leagues better. There is no comparison. There is so much more customisation with playstyle with switch skills and silkbind moves. The monsters have much cooler moves. The mobility makes it faster paced and fun.
I like Wilds but there is no comparison. If they released this and a rise expansion at the same time, i know what i would be buying. 😅
And it's not cause of difficulty. It's just fun factor. I get way more satisfaction from rise sunbreak combat.
I can agree Wilds is a good entry point cause of it. But, so was rise and there is so much more meat to it.
@Nem and none of that in rose was necessary to beat the hardest of difficulties.. was only really 1 hard fight the entire game and it wasn't hard. It's fine to love rose and it's also fine to be wrong
@Cutmastavictory Why would it have to be necessary? Gameplay variety is for fun. It should not be necessary. It should be a choice.
It's not necessary to have 14 weapons, yet we do. Stop talking nonsense. Tribalism is tireing.
@Nem you can literally carry two different weapons now. So if you love variety, there ya go. Stop crying.
@Cutmastavictory You think i wasn't? The problem is the depth. Having 2, 2 combo weapons can only do so much.
Stop being so defensive. I like the game. But i can also recognise how much better the combat was on rise sunbreak. If you stop playing tribalism games, you will know that too.
