Regular readers will know we’re huge fans of Hitman World of Assassination. For our money, it’s one of the best games you can currently play on the PS5 – and now it’s one of the best games you can currently play on PSVR2 as well.
While the original version of Hitman 3 shipped with PSVR support, the limitations of Sony’s original headset let IO Interactive’s ambition down.
But now, with the improved performance and control capabilities of PSVR2, you’re looking at arguably the definitive way to play the game.
The thing about Agent 47’s exploits is they’re goofy, and the virtual reality version really captures that. Dropping banana skins is fun on the base game, but it takes on a whole new level of satisfaction inside Sony’s headset, as this launch trailer demonstrates.
Now it’s worth noting that the PSVR2 version isn’t free; you’ll need to purchase it from the PS Store as a DLC pack for £7.99/$9.99. But it’s clear the developer has put an enormous amount of work into this, so we think that small fee seems reasonable to reward its effort.
We’ll have more on this new mode in the coming days, so stay tuned for that if you’re still on the fence.

Can i just buy the PSVR pack and play it or do I need to get the whole normal game as well?
Best VR2 game so far imo, the quality of being in all the locations is amazing.
You guys are slacking a bit with the psvr2 reviews lately. Nothing for Arken Age or Underdogs? Keep the vr reviews comming, we enjoy them!
@Throb You need the base game to play the vr addition.
@Throb You need the base game, yes. But I believe it's currently on sale.
@Throb You need to own Hitman 3 for PS4 or PS5. Either version will do
Seems like a mixed bag from what I see on other reviews. Lack of customisation settings for players, the knives always work only as a throwing weapons and can't be used as an actual knife, weapon issues with holsters and reloading.
Edit. I do not own VR and I thought of buying it many times but I just don't feel like I want to immerse myself in the game further down with a helmet on my head. Maybe when they finally perfect the VR to use gloves and real body movement tracking to perfection. VR3 ps6?
Very happy about this excellent psvr2 adaptation.
I already liked the psvr1 version, and this one is better in every way.
Fingers crossed that the next ioi game will also get the VR treatment.
Definite purchase!
@Jediak Amen
Interesting...maybe I will get it ...but at same time I just CBA to play vr...I won't get another unless there is some huge break through technology wise one day
Does it actually benefit from running on PS5 Pro compared to PS5 (as the PS5 Pro Enhanced label on its VR upgrade's store page suggests)?
@Jediak
You Can just buy WOA VR edition for 32.99 which comes with WOA part 1 and VR2 support.
Others are doing the heavy lifting for SIE, and somehow it works out. I still want Astro Bot Rescue Mission Remastered though!
I have this and haven’t tried it yet!
Finally a reason to take the headset of that big ass cradle gathering dust in the corner. This is amazing. So much content and killing people never gets old woth so many options. Finally appreciate my psvr2
Don't care sold the damn thing last weekend, a complete waste of money. VR1 has the better games.
@Max_the_German Sony is definitely funding many of those third party efforts. I think it's a fair compromise, as there's simply no business justification to prioritize VR over flat within the bounds of first party.
I would also love an Astro port, but here's the reason it probably won't happen: that game was designed for the dualshock, but PSVR2 cannot track the dualsense controllers.
I'm sure Sony has considered this at some point, but Japan Studio probably said that translating the input from the dualshock to the VR sense controllers would not be feasible. Which I actually tend to agree. It's certainly possible, but that doesn't mean it would be good. Or maybe the game would just have to be thoroughly redesigned, which in turn would bring us back to my initial argument (too big of an investment).
I will be all over this soon. Hitman is a very special game, and it seems perfect for VR. The locations, the thrill of stealth, the goofiness... I'm glad this thing exists.
The videos I’ve watched on YouTube look good. I’m in the middle of Underdogs (brutal fun) and Arcade Paradise (more of a business simulator than anything) but once I finish one of those I’ll pick it up.
Certainly looks better than the Quest version
This PSVR2 version takes it to a completely different level. It’s unbelievably good. One of the best VR games out there.
Glad I sold vr2 headset, plus hitman I cannot stand agent 47 he has zero personality and these guys are making the next James Bond game which makes me care even less about that game.
@Residentsteven the clone created by Dr's to be the perfect hitman is lacking in personality. Think the bond game will have to include the expected personality.
@Jswift56 hope so I just find the game Incredibly boring hope their bond game the main character has a personality inline with Nathan drake 🤞🏻at least like bond should do.
Yeah, it's great. Probably the most fun I've had with a game this year. It's a shame that one of the best PSVR2 games will be lost once the online is shut down. They should definitely release a standalone version with everything on the disc that doesn't require online or any updates.
@Throb you need the base game, specifically the World of Assassination version which is a free upgrade from Hitman 3. See https://www.reddit.com/r/PSVR/s/HRBxe0953Z
This game is already in my all time top three VR games. Sparc is first. Always.
