The Alters is the next game from Polish development studio 11 Bit Studios, the team behind tense, bleak survival series like This War of Mine and Frostpunk. It's shaping up to be its most ambitious yet, and in a new trailer, we see how far the team has come, building upon what has come before to create something entirely unique.
The Alters sees one amnesian astronaut Jan stranded on a forbidding planet, with no choice but to clone himself to create a workforce capable of surviving its harsh surface. Immediately, the honeycomb-style building structure is reminiscent of This War of Mine's blasted out shelters; that Jan's research base is highly mobile and attached to a giant wheel is something entirely new, however.

Similarly, Jan will need to venture outside the safety of his mobile home. Like the unnamed civil war that raged in the background of This War of Mine, players must avoid danger to secure the essential resources and materials needed to survive.
What do you think of The Alters, is it on your radar? Are you a fan of 11 Bit Studio's signature, bleak style of storytelling, and the impossible decisions that the developers delight in forcing upon players? We're still traumatised by what we needed to do to see This War of Mine: The Little Ones through to the end. Do what you must in the comments section below.

Really looking forward to this. Hope it's as good as it's looked I'm previews.
I thought it was more like the movie Moon. And Mickey 17, which is also apparently like Moon.
Now this looks incredible.
Looks good! Also looks less harrowing than ‘This War of Mine’, so I can probably play it for more than a couple hours without leaving shell shocked.
What a cool concept
Really enjoyed this war of mine.
Had a great time with frostpunk.
Really didn't like frostpunk 2 though with its change in direction of not placing the actual buildings, it just isn't me.
This looks like a great cross between their first 2 games I mentioned.
Looking forward to it
I tried an alpha and really liked it. This is a day one for me.
Played the demo on steam and it was really interesting.
Really looking forward to this one
The demo is fire, highly interesting concept and sympathetic main character!
@Perturbator (#2) if that's true Mickey 17 will be awesome! I love Moin!!!
@PerpetualBoredom Opinions seem a bit divided on it so far but I'm looking forward to seeing it. Big fan of the Host and Memories of Murder!
