Fntastic, the developer behind The Day Before (we'll be careful in our phrasing), one of 2023's more disappointing video game releases, is reportedly suing a Russian media outlet for calling the game a "scam", which it claims hurt the firm's reputation. At this rate, we're starting to doubt we'll ever get that promised PS5 port.
Reported by 80 Level (thanks, PC Gamer), Fntastic is suing outlet Yakutia.info, which itself is running with the story. Apparently, both Fntastic and Yakutia.info originally hail from Yakutia, Russia, with the The Day Before studio, founded by the Gotovtsev brothers, having since relocated to Kazakhstan.
The suit seemingly hinges on a story that refers to Fntastic's activities as a "scam", and another in which the outlet allegedly paraphrased YouTube influencers who accused The Day Before of having "borrowed" mechanics from other games.
Yakutia.info says the word "scam" is "relatively new in the Russian language", and changed the wording to "embarrassment" in the former once it was made aware of the studio's suite, replacing the paraphrasing in the latter with direct quotes. The outlet claims that deleting the stories in question would infringe on its right to free speech, that it has been singled out amongst numerous other outlets, perhaps due to its small scale, but is willing to go to court over the matter.
What do you think of this latest development in the long saga of The Day Before and Fntastic? Be precise in your phrasing in the comments section below.

Well they weren't wrong.
I know nothing about any of this but saying "scam" is a new word in Russia seems like a scam.🤷♂️
Fntastic need to read the room, seriously 🙄 They should count their lucky stars that they themselves weren't sued into oblivion for releasing that abomination of a game.
The Day Before was the biggest scam in gaming history. The trailers were completely faked, the environments were just a colection of assets from other games and websites, and the gameplay was broken and pretty much non existent. When your game is delisted and refunds given out to every player in less than 2 weeks, what other word would be used to describe it?
I'm surprised this devs didn't get sue for scamming people.
No, I think using "scam" in the phrasing is definitely appropriate here. But it's kind of insane that the devs would want to put a spotlight on that whole disaster by filing a lawsuit lol
But it is! Is a scammmmm suit me mot.... f... hahahahaha
Scam scam scam scam.
Hhhhhhh
I know these guys are scumbags, but holy ***** do they need to read the room. No one has any sympathy for them. They lied about their game every step of the way.
Not as interesting as Kotaku being sued for defamation by Bobby Kotick as per Aftermath.
"reportedly suing a Russian media outlet for calling the game a "scam", which it claims hurt the firm's reputation"
What reputation? Yeah wouldn't want to hurt that Capcom like reputation they currently have 🥴
KiraTV on YouTube has a whole series on why this was a scam. The warning signs were there from almost day 1.
It was most definitely a scam, also you can't hurt a company's reputation that's already as bad as it can get.
Are they going to sue Skill Up next? 😂

Make scam games, win scam reviews.
This is almost certainly an attempt at getting some free press. The claim obviously doesn't hold water.
That’s one way to scam people out of money
So this is the new grift:
The stones on these chancers...
It was a scam.
They are con artists.
They are con artists.
Everything they do is a scam.
@Steeleye50 Star Citizen says 'Hold my beer!'
Not sure you can call it a scam as that would imply some people may have had different impressions of what the "game" would be. Anybody with a modicum of interest in gaming knew beyond any doubt that this "game" was always going to be a complete farce as it proved to be.
@Ninjadeath2023 Yea, but at least it was somewhat playable. I never played it, and haven't heard much about it, but from my understanding people were upset over the game being advertised as something it was not. The Day Before had completely fake trailers, showing "gameplay" that did not exist at all.
@Steeleye50 "When your game is delisted and refunds given out to every player in less than 2 weeks, what other word would be used to describe it?"
***cough concord cough***
(Granted, I only cut the bit associated that you wrote hehe).
@Slideaway1983 good point, but again Concord was playable. It just sucked.
@Steeleye50 yeah as I said, I literally just picked on paragraph you wrote. It was meant in jest, so all good!
It was a scam. End of story.
