Publisher 2K appears to have accidentally leaked its own release date for Mafia: The Old Country, with a Steam news post promoting an upcoming PAX East panel stating the game will be out for PS5 on 8th August 2025. The article no longer contains the text in question, but an original copy was captured by Twitter profile @videotechuk_.
In the post, it's stated "Mafia: The Old Country will be available on August 8, 2025". Please see below:
Given the paragraph was attached to a piece about the upcoming PAX East panel, it's certainly possible that Hangar 13 plans to officially share the release date there. The game has been slated for a summer release, so early August would line up with this aim.
Mafia: The Old Country was announced roughly eight months ago for PS5, but very little of it has actually been shown. With a release date now expected at the PAX East panel, it's likely new gameplay will accompany the reveal.
"Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily," is the developer pitch. "Fight to survive as Enzo Favara and prove your worth to the Cosa Nostra in this immersive third-person action-adventure set during a dangerous, unforgiving era."

Awesome. Cannot wait for this and right in time to wrap up death stranding
I have very high hopes for this game. Hangar 13 learned from their mistakes in Mafia 3 and made very competent remake of the first Mafia.
I’m interested in this game, hope to see more soon.
On another note, Take Two seems to be releasing a lot of their games in the second half of this year, wonder if that’ll work out well for them.
Can we infer from this that GTA6 will be somewhere around October/November then? I’m sure they also wouldn't want this game to be too close to that release
Really hope they implement PSSR as good as shadows has since the update.
The shimmer/pixal crawl has definitely reduced and the image when panning less fuzzy than when using Ubi own solution.
Just hope mafia is released like that day one and not after.

@OldGamer999 Yeah, good point, i was wondering about that as well. It’s hard to settle on a date when they don’t know when GTA6 is gonna release. But at least now they know Mafia is coming in august. Seeing as Take Two probably doesn’t want this to be overshadowed by their own GTA, we can safely assume a Q4 release for GTA6?

Well this year I took my "Holidays" for all of August so I guess I'll spend some of that time playing through this? Why not? 🤷♂️
YESSS!!!!! I freaking love Mafia games and will definitely buy it day two if it has no bugs/glitches.
I wonder when gta vi will launch. I hope it's not too close to this game. T2 should give this proper time to breath before launching the absolute juggernaut.

I have low hopes for this. Series should've followed and expanded on the gameplay systems introduced in Mafia 2. Hangar 13 do not fill me with confidence. It'll be a pretty game though!

Mafia 1 and 2 were great, 3 was *****. So, I am hopefull but I will wait for the reviews. Really hoping to be a great thing.
Say what you will about Mafia 3's repetitive gameplay, but the story was really great. If The Old Country has the story chops of Mafia 3 and the gameplay structure of 1 Remake (linear story in a connected "open" world), than I'm going to be a very happy boy.

Can't wait for this. Honestly, with Mafia, Borderlands 4, and GTA VI, I think 2K might be in the discussion for publisher of the year (if they're all as good as they should be obvi)
And I think this pretty much confirms GTA is going to be late October or early November
DS2 in June, this in August, so I reckon Ghost of Yotei will be either July or September.
But what about GTA VI tho?

Those mistakes in 3 exist because they were forced to rush it out and start on the remake.
Hope this one turns out well! I’m not sure. It doesn’t have the ‘big City’ it fits so well. I hoped for a unlocked cap on the PS5 for the part 1 remake to prepare me for this one……
