A new update for Dragon's Dogma 2 is available to download right now on PS5, but after an eternity of silence from Capcom — outside of the game's first anniversary, which was a complete non-event anyway — this certainly isn't the kind of patch that sparks immediate hope for the title's future.
Weighing in at a meagre 454MB, the update comes with just a single patch note:
- Fixing issue where sometimes items can't be selected correctly on the item selection menu if a very large number of items are possessed.
Well, we're glad that's sorted!
No but seriously, we do think that Capcom needs to communicate its plans — or lack of plans — with players. If Dragon's Dogma 2 had been completely abandoned months ago, and it wasn't still getting these weird little updates every now and then, we'd have closed the book on it.
But the fact that there's clearly some kind of team still working on the game means that hope remains. Hope for major updates, and hope for that all-important expansion. The cycle repeats...
Are you holding out any hope for the future of Dragon's Dogma 2 at this point? Did you get trolled by this minor update just like we did? Don't dismiss your pawns just yet in the comments section below.

They need to fix the issue where we have no Bitterblack Isle-like DLC. That one DLC was better than the entirety of the first game.
I’m holding out hope for an expansion of some kind
I still play it regularly but have no hope for an expansion. If there is, depending on the market conditions when it releases I may wind up skipping it. Games are too expensive to grab three or four releases in a month, and if the increase to 110 CAD becomes a reality I’ll very seriously consider ditching console forever and just sailin the high seas drinking whisky. If you catch my drift.
This game is a shame with the prior hype honestly.
With Monster Hunter Wilds selling like hot cake, I don't think Capcom care much about Dragon's Dogma 2.
Not sure how its sold but not interested in playing anymore of this if it gets DLC, or even a 3rd game.
"Did you get trolled by this minor update just like we did?" Exactly how did an update troll you? Did it actively spam your email inbox with update announcements? I love this game despite its well documented flaws and I hope that one day it gets a decent expansion but there is still so much for me to discover when I return to it.
@Coffeeglitch arrrrr me lad....😉
I loved the first Dragon's Dogma on PS3, so was super excited for this, but, despite the larger world the game was nowhere near as much fun and I often spent ages trying to work out what the game expected me to do next.
Itsuno left Capcom. There will be NO new content. Both games were green lit to thank him for his work.
Now he's gone. Us fans will get no more DD
@AndyKazama BBI/Dark Arisen was made without Itsuno's involvement.
I'm not expecting s*** for DD2 and the people who keep shouting about an expansion or even just a collab with monster hunter are beyond delusional, but him not being at Capcom anymore doesn't mean we can't get another dlc like what they did for 1.
Well it's sad isn't it how capcom neglects there only real rpg they have ,and with wilds being there focus now,I feel there is no dlc planned for dd2 sad really 😢.
This is a bug fix patch which indicates that the game is done. I doubt more is coming.
I played some of the demo and could not vibe with the game mechanics at all. Oh well
don't know why this franchise got a sequel in the first place. should have put that money towards a new breath of fire game instead.
I played this on the PRO and while not perfect it’s certainly better than the base version. It’s on my to-plat list
It's still on my backlog, despite having bought it. I tried it for a few hours and the interface and way it starts felt like a game from two decades ago.... I had almost zero desire to go back. BUT I know many people I trust who advise there's a brilliant world to enjoy so I'll try and work through that opening and dreadful scene setting and script and actually reach the game proper next time, so I can understand and experience the joy 😄
It's difficult to give games the time to grab you sometimes, there are so many great games waiting to be played, but I'll be back to look at this...
