In an incredibly sad indictment of the industry as we know it, Madrid-based dev Tequila Works is auctioning off all of its intellectual property and assets.
The studio, which went bankrupt last year, is selling the rights to major releases like RiME and GYLT to the highest bidder.
You may recall, Sony was actually signed on as the original publisher of RiME, but after a long development cycle, it was eventually self-published by the Spanish studio across multiple platforms, where it attracted positive reviews.
Each franchise’s auction will run for another 30 days, with both RiME and GYLT attracting bids of up to €15,000 (~$16,986) thus far.
Also under the hammer is the excellent PSVR murder mystery The Invisible Hours and survival game Deadlight, as well as various other unfinished concepts. You can even buy the studio’s name and branding if you want to.
While we suppose there’s some solace in the fact that these franchises may get new life if purchased by the right people, it’s just incredibly sad to see creative works like these being auctioned off to the highest bidder.

This is sad to see, also crazy how cheap it is (currently) to buy those franchises.
That sucks, Rime was a really good game.
What a shame, deadlight, Rime and Gylt were all great games. Especially Rime
So very sad to see.
Sad to see! Really liked Rime and "The Invisible Hours".
A year ago Embracer would've been on this like white on rice, looks like they've learned their lesson. That said, it's a shame AA indie studios are sinking like this, they put out solid games. Rime's heavy inspiration of Team Ico put me off, but Deadlight and Invisible Hours where incrediable. I thought Tencent was investing in them?
Such a shame….. I love RIME. The plot was deeply moving. 😔
aahh.. that's so sad... I love Gylt, such a good little game it is
It is not fair...
"Epic music" and "no text" approach of the Rime was lovely.
Not even quality studios can survive in the tough gaming business these days, it seems.
Rime is great and has one of the more memorable endings I've seen in gaming. The Invisible Hours is a must-play for VR fans of detective mystery.
GYLT being a Stadia exclusive at launch was probably a bad idea though. I've got the game on Steam but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Rime was beautiful, and The Sexy Brutale was a lot of fun, too.
I've got fond memories of Rime. This is very sad to see, but if it helps people move forward then I guess it is what it is.
Google killed them thats for sure.
I enjoyed Rime...that's too bad.
