@colonelkilgore
Congrats on the triple shiny... And pleased to hear about your twin-stick conversion therapy success.

#170 Splash Cars (PS4)
Entertaining enough diversion for an hour or two, worth the couple of quid I paid for it in the recent sale. Interestingly I didn't need to finish the game to get all trophies - just up to level 15 - not sure how many there are or whether I'll now be motivated to do so.

Also #169 Save Room (PS4) simple puzzle based on RE4 inventory system & #168 Tales of Iron (PS5) got it with PS+, probably wouldn't have enjoyed the challenge but blasted through it on easy, nice animation style and narration.

Splash Cars and Save Room both gave me PS4 and PS5 versions so I'll inevitably be doing them again at some point!

@sorteddan Nice few cheap n cheerful plats there. I hope the Save Room had some memorable music....The save/safe room music from RE1 is very soothing, unfortunately it didn't stop the ingame counter so no time to sit and relax when there is a speedrun trophy to obtain.

Good job on all those platinums everybody!!

@colonelkilgore That Dead Nation plat really is something compared to the trophy guide suggested time to plat isn't it! 😅

@sorteddan congrats on a nice little hat-trick of plays there.

@render yeah the guide is way out right? It probably took me between 40-50 hours in the end… around 10 of which was trying to get to mission 10 on endless 😅

@colonelkilgore That’s great feedback on Dead Nation. It’s one I’ve been meaning to try, but something always pushes it back. I feel like I’ve played a twin stick shooter before, but I can’t remember what it may have been. Maybe I’m just thinking of a twin stick shooting section of a bigger game… I don’t know.

And impressive work with Kena. The hardest difficulty is supposed to be absolutely brutal. Well done. I barely completed it on normal.

@Th3solution so I actually played Kena through on normal myself… but there is a glitch to get the Master difficulty trophy with only minimal effort during ng+. If it hadn’t of either, I would’ve tried a full Master play through… glad that I didn’t have to though 😉

and deffo tag me when you get around to Dead Nation, will be real interested to hear your thoughts.

edit. also, could the twin stick shooter section that was part of a larger game be Neir Automata?

@colonelkilgore Yes, Nier Automata was probably one of them. I feel like maybe there is another one too, but Nier Automata is probably the main game I’m thinking of. Maybe one of the Ratchet & Clank games? Or maybe one of the mini-games in a Danganronpa game? I’m scaring myself at how much gaming I’ve forgotten.

I think I’m also thinking of Resogun and I had a vague memory that it has left stick for propulsion back and forth and the right stick to shoot forward or back. So maybe it’s a twin-stick lite. Along with Velocity 2X, which has elements of the genre also.

Still, I need to try Dead Nation, Nex Machina, Helldivers, and/or Alienation. I’m pretty sure I have all those in my library from PS+. I’ll definitely let you know if I dive in to Dead Nation. I’ve kept it on my console as a couch co-op in case I ever need a game to play with visitors. Alas, I don’t get many visitors. 😅

MidnightDragonDX

Got my 100th platinum trophy with Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars. The platinum name was “Ruler of the Dragon’s Isle” and had a picture of a badass looking dragon. And my name on PSN is MidnightDragonDX, so thought it was all cool.

@MidnightDragonDX
Excellent stuff!
Welcome to the hundo club. Out of interest when was your first plat?
And here's looking forward to the next 100.

Bagged platinum #64 Sackboy: A Big Adventure over the weekend. It was one that I didn't actually think I'd got the skill to get but someone off the boosting group had got through it so it inspired me to keep trying with that final knitted knight trial. I wouldn't like to think how many attempts it actually took me but watching back my successful run I'd actually made quite a few mistakes so it was amazing that it came together. I did the final trophy I needed for high-fiving another player with the user from the group which for some reason made it extra especially satisfying knowing that they also popped the platinum at the same time as me 😄

Nice work on that century @MidnightDragonDX 👍

@render
Oh that's a good one to get, well done!
I've tried and failed that trial more than a couple of times and fallen away from it recently but not quite totally given up yet. Did you just replay it over and over for hours or just do a few attempts every day or what was your preferred method that led to success?

@sorteddan I don't know if I had a strategy so much as I just played it when I could get the time. I sometimes just had a few goes, and then sometimes I'd spend an hour on it if I had the chance. I noticed that quite often my best goes were my first few as I then started to make more mistakes after that, but the time I actually nailed it I'd been trying for an hour so there is definitely some luck to it. Generally though you'll start to notice that amongst all the failures, where you've died on the first few sections, you are getting further and further into it. As you do that you will also realise you've stopped panicking so much that that's the furthest you've ever got 😅

There were a few things I did do that worked well for me though. The first one was that I practiced each of the trials by themselves but didn't try to go all out and set the fastest time ever, I just tried to get consistent at them but without taking too many risks. The second was that for the first 10 or so, that I had a lot more practice at, do them quick enough so that when I got through to the later sections I could take my time a bit and wait for platforms and things to be in the right place rather than trying to rush it. Anyway definitely don't give up as if I can do it then you definitely can!

@render Much congrats on bagging the sackboy platinum, it is out of my skill range which is very annoying as I like the sackboy games but they always do this to me with one trophy or another...kids game? Don't you believe it!

CaptD

render

@CaptD Thanks man. I really didn't think it was in my skill range but it's amazing what persistence can do. I was actually quite enjoying it still even though it was infuriating. There's something therapeutic about going through each section and getting into the flow of the timing of the elements.

Congrats to @MidnightDragonDX on the big #100! I actually picked that game up in the recent sale as it goes, so I’ll know who to come to for tips 😉.

& another huge congrats to @render, meant to be a real tough plat that, so well done on getting over that hump 👍

@colonelkilgore Cheers mate. I reckon some people would probably find it easy, they must have done for the trophy guides to give it a 5-6/10 however for me personally that's raised to an 8-9/10 due to it being a platformer and a souls game would probably have been easier 😅

Got Platinum #22 from Nier: Replicant. It's a brilliant game, and I had lots of fun with this, though I do not recommend going for the Platinum. There's some fairly tedious trophies for this game, the most grindy of which is to fully upgrade 33 different weapons. Weapons upgrades often require some rare materials, so that one took a while.
