Re: The Dream Is Dead: PS5 Will Not Play PS3, PS2, or PS1 Games

@REALROBLAW Jim Ryan just doesn't believe it's worth the investment. Part of me agrees with him because it is very time consuming and expensive to get decades worth of old games emulated for PS5, but since Xbox does it, Sony should as well just so Xbox doesn't have that leg up that they've had in that area. I think if the console wars were closer to even, Sony may have done it, but they've been beating Xbox for so long and by so much over the last 7 years, they decided they didn't have to do it. If we see Xbox get more competitive, we will probably see the beginnings of backwards compatibility show up on PS5 Pro. If Sony crushes them again right out of the gate, we won't. Competition gives people the features they want and we haven't had much of it.

It's sad. This article was written months ago and here we are, mid July and nothing has changed. Sure, they added Arnold as a fire team member and a few new Predators, but no actual content that adds any value to the game. Still no new maps, no new modes, no prestige style leveling system. The game was a lot of fun for a while, until you max out your levels and unlock all the skins and weapons (which really doesn't take that long to do). They've had plenty of chances to release new content, but have failed to do so each time. Rather than weekly additions, we get 2 a month, each very small. I wouldn't mind the small upgrades if we got 1 a week, but when only adding it twice a month, they need to be substantial to keep people playing until the next one. Arnold was a great addition, but that DLC should have been Arnold (and his weapons), a map, a new Predator weapon, and a new skill. Then 2 weeks later, new gear for both Predator and fire team, another skill, and a new mode. If they did that every couple of weeks, the game would be thriving. Instead, its struggling to breathe and is slipping away.
