It's actually depressing just how many people believe unverified stuff they see on the internet. On the plus side, those people aren't that clever and won't amount to much so swings and roundabouts...
How many timed exclusives did Xbox announce at their latest event? And it was Xbox at the start of the 360 lifecycle getting exclusivity deals with GTA 4 DLC and CoD Maps that really kick-started this trend.
Xbox took their foot off the gas in the second half of the 360 lifecycle by chasing the casual Wii market, and have been treading water ever since.
If the shoe was on the other foot, as MS has proven in the past, these deals would be done on the Xbox platform. Sony managed to come back and compete against the 360 with the PS3, and absolutely smashed it with the PS4.
People arguing that this is anti-consumer? Well I'd say to them that in the long run, competition like this means the consumers win. Thank you, Xbox, for making PlayStation better.
I'd say my concerns regarding Xbox 1st party games as well as Game Pass are well founded after watching that.
Xbox CANNOT compete with Sony's 1st party in both budget and development time, and Game Pass is the reason why. How many of their game reveals look like low-budget and AA titles?
This is because they NEED to churn out exclusives on the reg to justify Game Pass - still, there will be some decent games there, but multiple must-have AAA titles a year? No chance. And Gears, Halo and Forza need a f**king rest at this point.
As a side note, Xbox did announce free upgrades for Gears 5 and Forza. This tactic is how Sony SMASHES the first year of PS5, by releasing free upgrades to exclusives like Bloodborne, Horizon, Spiderman, Ghost etc. Show them running on the PS5 at the next event at 4k/60 and take my money please.
Prices go up at the start of a generation for no other reason than to rinse early adopters who likely have more disposable income. Then as more people adopt, the prices come down. Don't believe publishers' sob-stories and selective wording around this matter.
Constantly being sold the idea that games are too expensive to make a profit from is impossible to believe when so many games are still being made and released. Taking the p*ss...
@GADG3Tx87 I get you, I've been enveloped in that bubble before but getting a bit older and wiser you put things into perspective. Do you know the ages of the people engaging in those activities? They are very likely to be children. I was a child once and I was a moron, such is life.
Most adults who don't like/disagree with something just move on to the next thing. I've still not got over GoT Season 8 along with most of the people I know, but I guarantee that most, if not all, of us never sent abuse or hatred online.
It is a sad state of affairs when you see these 'online wars' kicking off every once in a while, but again, I cannot stress enough how small a minority of people it really is compared to a silent majority of onlookers rolling their eyes.
The numbers never lie, and once you're enlightened by that fact it does wonders for your mental health.
@GADG3Tx87 Calm down, step back, and reflect on your statement.
I'm sure we all get caught up in whatever bubble we live in at times, and you're far from alone in that. But remember this: most modern gamers are level-headed, decent people that likely never engage in any online slanging matches. A vocal minority are not always representive of a silent majority.
I've no doubt what you said was coming from a point of passion for gaming, and perhaps wishing it were better? So I'm not trying to belittle you, just merely hoping for you to not get caught up in the 'skewed internet is reality' mindset that all too many people fall victim to.
This story ... event ... whatever is something that 99% of people who will eventually play this game will have no knowledge of whatsoever.
I don't know if people are justified in their criticism of the leaks, not seen them, but I do know that the world is far bigger and better than a few people doing sh*t on the internet.
After a generation and half of mediocrity and 1st party games aiming for the lowest common denominator, perhaps keep the facade of humility until you produce anything even close to PS exclusives in risk, ambition or quality.
Slight resolution bumps to 3rd party games ain't really a win, and I can't help but feel skeptical that MS is going to be willing to fund big budget AAA titles at the rate Sony does when they are giving the titles away on Game Pass (price hike incoming?!?)
But, hey. IF they start to deliver when it comes to their first party then I'll buy an XBSX to sit alongside my PS5 ... after I move into a bigger house to fit them both in.
