Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

I caved and bought the Pro. I've had the base model since launch so I'm selling that to a mate for £300 and figure I'll more than get use out of the £500 I pay to upgrade for the Pro over the next 3-4 years until the PS6 drops.

Can't help feeling a little dirty because it should never have been this price without a disc drive and stand so I totally understand those who don't buy it. Hopefully Playstation can reward my custom over the second half of this generation with some absolute bangers.

Re: Deliver Us Mars Dev Lays Off Team Due to Lack of Publishing Options

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

Played Deliver Us the Moon and really enjoyed it despite it's rough edges, but never bought the sequel at launch due to poor reviews. However, I've just played Deliver Us Mars on PS Plus and I'm genuinely baffled by the shockingly low metacritic score. 69!?!?

Sure it's still got obvious shortcomings due to the indie nature of the development, but damn it deserves better than it got, and it excels in certain areas better than most AAA games. I will 100% purchase Deliver Us Home if they can find a way to do it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Rise of the Ronin?

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

I was enjoying it knowing full well it was nothing special, but it is ultimately bloated beyond belief and so repetitive. The 2nd Party exclusives have been truly awful this generation, and whoever is selecting them needs firing. Forspoken last year and now this?!?! We had 2nd Party exclusives like Nier: Automata on the PS4!

Re: Larian Studios' Swen Vincke Blames Mass Layoffs on Publisher Greed

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

What I would also say is I do miss the days when a AAA game was around 8/10 hours to complete, and the idea of replaying those games was tantalising if they were good enough. Games like BioShock, Uncharted etc. Just played FFVII: Rebirth and it would have been considerably stronger were it a third shorter. And having replayed TLoU 2 recently, that game has no right to be the length it is. This is all huge amounts of money being wasted on development time in my opinion.

And whoever is budgeting a game must accept the state of the economy and the sheer competition for sales. Supply is currently outweighing demand (see Rise of the Ronin and Dragon's Dogma 2 launching on the same day).

No doubt the greed at the top is partly to blame, but as a 'game enjoyer' I feel all too often my time is being wasted because videogames are bloated in order to keep me playing longer. Huge AAA openworld games should be in the minority, yet already this year we've had LaD: Infinite, FFVII: Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin and Dragon's Dogma!

As painful as it is, an industry-wide shift is much needed.

Re: Xbox's 'Everywhere' Future Outlined in Company Memo from Phil Spencer

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

I think it's time Xbox stood down the politician and gave the job to someone who understands that ALL Xbox needs to do is produce high-quality games. Instead of Phil whining it's too difficult and blowing wad's on major publishers.

His failure over years has led Xbox to this point: doing everything they can to stay somewhat relevent and hang on to Sony's coat-tails while finding ways to milk their audience's misguided allegiance, and spinning narratives left, right and centre.

Drives me crazy that with the resources he's had, he can't whip Microsoft Game Studios into shape when I know others absolutely could.

He just doesn't get 'it', which in turn means Xbox just doesn't get 'it'. And that is why they will continue to flounder under his leadership.

Re: Starfield, Indiana Jones Aren't Coming to PS5 Just Yet

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

That was seemingly the most pointless 'update' I've ever seen. 20 minutes essentially saying nothing, yet clearly skirting around a massive elephant in the room.

They are going to hedge their bets in the hope that Xbox can grow enough in the short term to not publish their 'bigger' games on Playstation and Nintendo, but if that fails then the dam will open.

Absolute PR guff.

Re: This Week Could Be Big for PlayStation, Say Swirling Rumours

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

If anything is to be learned this gen about PlayStation, then temper those expectations. This isn't the same company that turned everything around with the PS4. Still years ahead of the competition with regards to exclusives and some fantastic tech, but I'm expecting yet another tone-deaf PR fumble with this Subscription Service. Prove me wrong, Jim Ryan.

Re: Talking Point: What Were Your Most Played PS4 Games?

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

I've played pretty much everything from the previous generation, like, almost everything general consensus would deem must-play/most popular etc.

So I got a shock when I saw my most played game was ... Dragon Age: Inquisition. 225 hours!!! And I never even touched the DLC. I mean, I know I definitely enjoyed that game, but damn.

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Calls for Respect as PS5 Remaster Criticism Crosses the Line

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

Erm, can I make a suggestion to anybody with a platform online? IGNORE THE TINY, INSIGNIFICANT MINORITY OF PEOPLE WHO BRING NEGATIVITY YOUR WAY.
They are likely:
a) Children
b) Suffering from mental issues
c) Immature adults looking for a rise because it's 'funny'
d) Lonely, unhappy people looking for any form of attention

This non-event is online discourse exemplified over the last ten years, and I put blame entirely on the media and people with platforms; narcissists focusing on the one negative comment on their YouTube videos, choosing to ignore the overwhelming positivity. News media utilising any negativity to push their agenda.

Your world-view has been irrevocably influenced by such a small number of the population, with a viewpoint that in no way represents the majority! Yet you take that minority view as fact i.e. gamers are all entitled man-babies, all white people are racist, all men are sexist, everyone is homophobic - the list goes on and on.

Yes, some of those people exist, but why give them time of day? Receiving threats online? You absolutely shouldn't have to deal with that, but these threats are empty attempts at trying to get your attention. Don't give in to that.

Ah, rant over. Another tedious exercise in the proverbial 'p*ssing in the wind.' Just ask yourself this:
Do you truly believe that the number of people genuinely 'upset' by this innocuous turn of events, warrants the amount of coverage it is currently receiving? Now who do you believe the onus is on to change that for future non-events?

Re: PlayStation Girl Pokes Fun at PS5 Pre-Order Scramble

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

@Ambassador_Kong Brilliant. I am smiling and sighing all at once. There genuinely isn't enough time in the day, but hopefully in a few years you'll learn for yourself.

Now, if you'll allow me this seemingly non sequiter. I. Love. The Last of Us Part 2. I think it is genius, and a PERFECT sequel to part 1. A phenomenally brave achievement, and a milestone in storytelling period.

And the crowning glory of that piece of art? Masterfully displaying the complexity of humanity; that given different circumstances, we may find share more in common with our "enemies" than we think.

Hopefully your world-view has been a tiny bit expanded.

Re: PlayStation Girl Pokes Fun at PS5 Pre-Order Scramble

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

@Col_McCafferty Calm down. CALM DOWN!!! I will NOT calm down. I will calm UP, If anything. You friggin' soldier boy's, with your Red Dead Avatars, sitting in your Ivory Towers.

You don't think I'd love to own a Red Dead Avatar? You don't think I wish I knew how to insert emoji's into my comments? The privilege on show - it's suffocating.

AND ANOTHER THING: What's vulgar about the word pretentious?

Re: Project Nimble Was the Codename for PS5 Showcase Event

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

I still think Sony sell a sh*tload without matching the XBSX - especially if there is somewhat limited supply for the first few months, and when they show what games are coming at launch and beyond, it's incredibly compelling.

Despite Phil Spencer saying they don't see Sony as competitors, and the fact that both companies are clearly fencing each other in the lead up to launch, I almost wouldn't be surprised if Sony secretly feel the same way.

Both companies have already gone separate ways this gen; Xbox has seen success in engaging their loyal fans in subs to services, and Sony has seen success in making/selling amazing games.

Anecdotally, the majority of people I know who prefer Xbox don't buy games anymore. Despite wanting to play games, they are just hoping that the games come to Game Pass eventually.

And I think we are seeing that in sales numbers too, with games selling way more on PlayStation, and I suspect that will continue onto next gen.

The XBSS is basically just a Game Pass box, and that's great for people who want to game on a budget and don't mind playing old games or budget titles, but the fact it will likely outsell the XBSX should probably be a concern for 3rd party Devs who want to still SELL their games when they launch.

I would not be surprised at all if we see major publishers - Activision, Take Two, Ubisoft etc. start to move away from Xbox and rely heavily on PlayStation and Nintendo to make their money in the years to come.

So a £499 PS5 Standard, even now, would not surprise me at all.

Re: Sony Has a Mystery Event Planned for PAX Online Next Week

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

At this point I'm expecting a 30 minute Bug Snax Showcase! I kind of detest that game ATM but also hoping that what they've shown so far is purposely misleading, and it turns out to be a really f**king dark, oddball social commentary on the human condition. Like, you are playing this cutesy game for the first twenty minutes and then sh*t goes down and it turns out to be f**king genius.

Because if it really is a case of the Devs just being try-hard kooky with nothing to say, and what you've seen so far is what you get for an hours-long game, then Gee Zus!

But, yeah, probably just a console teardown...

Re: Talking Point: Could PS5 Be Delayed?

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

These consoles are definitely launching this year - I'd imagine the likes of Ubisoft, Activision and EA all having next-gen games ready to go for November confirms that. No doubt the pandemic is just a massive pain in the balls for both companies.

As for the game of cat and mouse, I'd say Sony are very confident of selling huge numbers regardless of price, and it's more likely MS is gonna be waiting on what Sony announce before they flinch (not that they see Sony as competitors now or anything **awkwardly clears throat**)

I don't understand anyone getting indignant at a lack of info just yet; we all roughly know what these machines will cost and roughly when they are coming. Yes we still need a console teardown from Sony as well as confirmation of 1st party launch games, and MS need to show off the Series S.

I reckon we'll get one big blowout from each party explaining all we need to know by mid October at the latest, and before year's end when we're enjoying our new tech, we'll forget about the time our balls were blue and our bank accounts were plentiful.

Re: Gods & Monsters Has Been Renamed Immortals: Fenyx Rising, Will Be at Ubisoft's Next Livestream

Gr8VngnzN4esAngr

So this game got delayed along with a few others at Ubisoft in a bid to help each game to feel more unique and fresh rather than the samey-ubisoft-sameyness of their recent games.

And I should add that I really enjoyed AC Odyssey, and this game is being developed by the same team so I am genuinely looking forward to this game.

But it kinda would be hilarious that in all that extra time, when it finally came to showing what was new to the higher-ups, the Devs were papping themselves as nothing had really changed with the game.

And so, with about 5 minutes to go before going into the board meeting, Zayn, who nobody's really sure what he does in the office - and whom appears to be perpetually stoned, pipes up and just loudly proclaims the words, "Immortals: Phoenix Rising," to which the room stays silent.

After a few uncomfortable seconds a second wave of ingenuity hits him, and he then adds with a confidence reserved only for a Steve Jobs ready to unveil the iPhone, "but Phoenix is spelled F. E. N. Y. X," to which the entire Dev team stand up and applaud...

And that's how games are made, peeps!
