This is a good move from Sony. They aren’t trying to buy new IPs. They have tons and have proven that they are good at creating new IPs with their first party studios. Sony is focused on buying massive talent, tech and expertise. Bungie has learned a crazy amount about running live service games and their sharing of service-based models and tech is a big boost for Sony that’ll help them recoup the costs of the purchase and then some within the next 5 years. More money coming in means Sony can keep funding big narrative driven games too. And bungie has better backing and access to Sony’s talent pool.
