The mass (casual gamers) are never really interested in quality titles. I don't want the consistent quality of Vita games being lowered because it is "in" to have a Vita. If the Vita becomes more popular because people are starting to look beyond the mass-consumed games, no, I wouldn't have a problem, because it would imply the recognition of quality... It's nice to own a Vita, it is more intimate and free from bandwagon-jumpers, who always unconsciously destroy something great...
Back in the day ('ere we go again)...there wasn't even a distinction between games (like the AAA-talk nonsense nowadays): it was all games. And, sad to say, I am not very impressed by games that are made by -really- gigantic teams these days. It is as if smaller teams/developers have the greater minds and love, just like "back then"...
@Paranoimia "we know it's probably going to go digital eventually."
Same was said about CDs. Well, they were wrong. I am happy lots of people want something tangible instead of something impersonal and distant. The day that retail ends, will be the day I quit gaming. I want to OWN my games. /end of story.
@ObviouslyAdachi Good luck! Still have to go through the first game. At least I want to make sure that I've read all the literature during the first playthrough...
@nathanuc1988 But the point I wanted to make is that ROMs are designed to endure for decades (yeah, they too degrade over time). My best friend already had a Memory Pak for his N64, failing because of continuous overwriting (which is again not ROM). I don't trust it as a sustainable medium, because it isn't designed to last for very long. And what happens when the machine is no longer being produced within a couple of years? I would still be able to enjoy my games which I have on my Vita Game Cards, while it wouldn't be certain in the case of a "digital collection".
Plus, I want to retailers to survive. Everything about DD-games is impersonal. I don't like it at all.
It's funny isn't it? Here we had a majority of gamers worrying about not owning their games pre-the-E3, and yet, they wouldn't mind DD-games, which is more or less the same problem or at least very similar.
@nathanuc1988 As far as I know, both Vita and 3DS cards contain solid state mask ROMs (y'know Read Only Memory) containing a separate flash module for writing information. The problem is mainly the idea of cells wearing out (because of overwriting), so when your mem card is wearing out over time and corrupting data, say 5 years you're also losing your library when "all-digital"...
Sorry, but I'd rather own my games (retail). Very few seem to be concerned about long-term preservation of games. Memory Cards wear out due to the read & write cycles. To a purist and collector like me this is of no value whatsoever.
One of the few reasons why I bought a PSVita in the first place! I just had to get my hands on this re-worked classic title (I don't own a PS3). 10/10.
@Sanquine No, I know, not you. Maybe I'll come back later on the forum, just not now. But to be honest it just disgusts me what the general gaming audience has become over the years. It has grown from a small and hardcore sub-culture into a gigantic mass of moaning, crying babies who want a newer, shinier toy all the time -24/7-. Not because they really want the toy or because they really love it, but because they want to keep on wanting. It's non-ending. And it's not limited to gaming either; there's no real passion for art anywhere, only a endless need for sensation.
I just might leave this site. I'm getting really annoyed by the so-called gamers here. As if a console's entire life-cycle has come to an end due to the expectations of a freaking show. Tokyo Game Show? Gamescom? Even later?Never mind. It's all finished according to some. Well, I am finished with doom and gloom and ungrateful, tunnel-visioning people. Go and play MGS2 and LEARN. Goodbye.
People said the same kinda things during the first and second year of the PS2. People have zero patience nowadays, kinda annoys me. Don't people really love the games that they have anymore? How few that might be? I got a small collection of Vita games, and yet, I love em to death. Even if the Vita died today, I wouldn't sell it for all the money in the freaking world!
I'm getting very annoyed by all these death-wishes (almost). Maybe people should check out the VITA forum. I'm continually updating it with new materials.
That's amazing then isn't it? Here's a game warning us about the loss of individual autonomy and the closed surveillance society. While it's apparent reboot gets released on a system which limits your freedom as a costumer and which is potentially a surveillance device. Unbelievable.
@rastamadeus I liked it because of the game's atmosphere, theme and soundtrack. I thought it was also thrilling as a experience. This is how you create a exiting linear videogame imo.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Adds a Little Drama
@Strofan7 The Vita and PS3 versions of Final Fantasy X HD Remaster are identical when it comes to content. So it will work similar I presume.

Final Fantasy X HD Remaster's new 30-minute episode takes the form of an audio drama
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Toukiden Prompts Vita to Surge
Famitsu gave the PS Vita version of Toukiden the scores 9/8/8/9. So, very high.
And yes. It gets a Western release too. (Q4, 2013)
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Toukiden Prompts Vita to Surge
The Vita should sell well in Japan because of Ys Celceta alone! (which was released last year)

If it will be released on the XBone, then the creators will be self-contradictory because of the underlying theme of the first part.
