Re: Soapbox: Why Half-Life: Alyx Is a Big Moment for PSVR

Real_Obsi

@kohiba99 agreed. Its too specific and rich right now. I don't doubt the experience (had one for a short year) but the price is basically a whole major investment for, what is still even now, just mild curiosity and very occasional brilliant ideas.
There's a significant number who can afford this easily, I'm not outing you all as some kind of travesty to humanity, but you must understand even 200 for the cheapest VR option is WAY to much to shell out for one single title... and speaking honestly... even some of the best VR games still feel oddly make do and ghetto to me. Like a well made Garry's Mod experience. Fun but not exactly well implemented. There's no doubting the visuals in this but he moment you clip you hand through your head or can't pick up a bullet on the floor it'll feel real janky.

Re: Soapbox: Why Half-Life: Alyx Is a Big Moment for PSVR

Real_Obsi

A shame they had to make their only Half Life game in 13 years a VR exclusive.
I suspected they would after all the Vive efforts but really... what a rich boy toy.
Perhaps VR will become as standard as anything else in no time.
Though just recently I'd hoped to avoid buying much gaming hardware upgrades ever again.
Interesting how they announced the, seemingly, vital necessity of purpose built VR hardware RIGHT at this moment...
No, I'm good I think. Had my fill of this IP.

Re: Sony Promotes PS4 Remote Play During Google Stadia Launch Week

Real_Obsi

It hasn't flopped in the slightest.
Everyone who bought and payed for founders editions is on.
It's pretty god damn flipping flawless.
Glad I helped start it up to be honest.
You can all enjoy it for free using your dear treasured dual shocks in a month or two. Really, I'd settle down and just read between the anti hype if I were you. It's all been a giant childish storm in a tea cup.

Re: Sony Promotes PS4 Remote Play During Google Stadia Launch Week

Real_Obsi

The acess is staggered release to avoid bottlenecking.
The service is exceptionally good and not remotely laggy.
Remote play is piped connection from YOUR PS4 on YOUR internet upload to wherever you are connecting.
The results are patchy at best. Even when im sitting on the sofa with an ipad infront of the TV.
The Stadia launch is slow, yes, but going well... we were told we would get invitations in order. Save for a small early mishap of their own admission we have been getting just that. Unsurprisingly the hordes of haters are on the case with extreme alacrity... what an entirely unsurprising turn of event.
When the next gen titles come rolling in and you cant find the £700 or more just to get a bundle deal to even get started... Perhaps a FREE membership, your old DS4 on a USB and some old laptop for a screen will suddenly seem terribly attractive...
You'll see a game, buy it, and play it. No further cost.
See you next year haters.

Re: Talking Point: Is the PS4's Final Year of Relevance in Danger of Becoming Overhyped?

Real_Obsi

Mostly people want mysery and visora from The Last of Us (I assume... I'm going nowhere near it) so theyll love that I'm sure. FF7 remake will be adored by the fans. We've seen enough to know for sure... those who are very new or from 15 may be dissapointed as it's closer to the older system in some ways and will likely bore them with mini games and specific references they have no context for... I can't wait personally... and Cyberpunk... i have no idea. It looks impressive, disgustingly violent and not for me. I wish it was. It is not.

Re: Rumour: Sony Has Something PlayStation-Related Planned for the End of September

Real_Obsi

A revamped streaming service, probably with a very strong incentive starting price, to get people invested in it. Prep for the 'other' PS5 that will, in fact, be streaming exclusive. It will be wildly affordable, compared to the high power version, and intended to be the actual device they all hope we choose.
Don't expect a fair price for this thing though. Despite being, effectively, a dumb vid streaming device it will be the only other system able to receive the service.
You can bet your butt there will be something to make you want to move off the PS4 too. PSVR2 probably... I'm being cinical, but I bet there's a good chunk of truth in it.

Re: Talking Point: Could Sony Lease Out Its Dormant Franchises?

Real_Obsi

Personally Ive little fondness for even the cuter IPs of Sony’s.
Perhaps others take a different view. Sony seem to burn through one fad after another, so fast, that very few have lasting appeal when you look back at them. Even Crash Bandicoot and Spyro feel old, despite the new HD games being impressive works. Very little got me enthused enough to buy them.
Sure, they could lease them out, but I dont know that they do super well... especially coming out as second hand, alternative developer, efforts.

Re: PS4 Action RPG Exclusive Granblue Fantasy: Relink Is Looking Grand

Real_Obsi

Dont be a plonker @Lando_ , Asia has mad records on PS4 in 2018 ... you’ve got your head about 5 years back ... and, even then, it was only popularity and opinion not an actual lack of quality.
Right now western, full price, game development is in the pits. Only a few bastions of good practice seem to remain. Asia is more popular than ever.

Re: Sony Reportedly Bans PSN Account Over Cultural Misunderstanding

Real_Obsi

What if there wasn’t a name change ability on the way?
I strongly suspect this is Sony making a bad, cagey PR move.
They dare not show a freebie name change being given ahead of time since it’s going to be a charged ‘feature’ with a one time free option for all on ‘release’.
They are entirely capable of making a quick switch for the boy, now, and they should.

Re: Guide: How to Fix Blurring in PSVR

Real_Obsi

The extremities of where you are looking will always be blurred. All part of stretching a flat screen image to a spherical “surface”. But if its all a blur then, sure, something is wrong.

Re: Activision Pondering Faster Content, New Monetisation for Destiny 2 After Forsaken Sales Fail to Meet Expectations

Real_Obsi

They made it TOO EXCLUSIVE.
Im all for hard content for hardcore players. But make exclusive, end game, enticing content but only for a tiny percentage... and watch your player base plummet when realisation dawns.
People are frustrated with the fact theyre doing the same mid level stuff and insulted it’s, apparently, due to “having no friends”.

Re: Fallout 76 Live Action Trailer Is Just About the Most Un-Fallout Fallout Trailer You'll Ever See

Real_Obsi

@PS_Nation very likely they will... the majority don’t follow sites or post opinions and play, largely mindless, titles designed for quick pick up and play or intense competition with a high skill ceiling.
The thinking gamer is, very sadly, in woeful minority... and Bethesda know it f course.
I guess times have got a bit tight and they decided to desicrate the most mass market approchable of the two IPs

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 to Have Photo Mode

Real_Obsi

Oh, how lovely. Now you can take stills of all that photo-real gore and brutality... so dissapointed. It could have been so much more approachable and fun. But no, had to go all violent, dark and nasty.
Yet another recent game i cant play because the tred is “Go nasty and hard to play or go home”

Re: Bethesda Thinks Fallout 76 Bounties Will Stop Players Constantly Murdering Each Other

Real_Obsi

There’s a darker thing to all this.
They’re luring passive players in for fodder at their own expense and for further profit.
This specific message is trying to encourage potential “Out” fans of the game to give it a chance, while simultaneously waving a red rag at the trolls we all know are poised to turn this game into more of a wasteland than it should be.
Dont fall for it. If youre worried youll get harrased, dont think this will change that one jot... there’s plenty elsewhere to enjoy. Let them see this is a mistake and save your money.
Gaming is in an oddly dark period right now. A lot of talk flies around for pro PvP, zero tutorial open sandboxes and steap lurning curves.
Dares and double dares of increasing stakes.
The industry is just trying to ride this out. Provide what people demand and keep them on side while still turning a profit.
I think they know full well this isnt going to work, but if enough buy it anyway...

Re: Streaming Devices Will Kill Traditional Consoles Within the Next 10 Years, Says EA

Real_Obsi

How does a publisher encourage A change in the games hardware market?
This all sounds like hot desperation from a dying company.
They cant afford to create machines with clowt, but they COULD make dumb boxes and stream their own tosh down a clogged pipe to witless fools crazy enough to buy them.
And THEN theyed have permanent customers!
Genius!
Rather than reform and provide great games and a good service... True to past behaviour EA continue to look for a quick, easy option.

Re: Shenmue I & II Scores a Gorgeous Japanese Collector's Edition

Real_Obsi

Looks nice. Cant afford 10s of £s for pretty boxes though.
Games need an internet connection and patches to run these days anyway. Really no point in having the insecurity of physicality being your only proof of ownership.
Get it as a collectors piece, sure, but physical, today, as your main form of purchase is just a bit silly and stubborn.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 6.0 Beta Includes Performance Fixes

Real_Obsi

More lag...
Because, if they don’t, most will be content with a huge catalogue of PS4 games well into PS5’s release.
They can’t have that! They want a big hit of purchases on day one. They NEED us all to be sick and tired of “sluggish” PS4s.
I do hope they rectify it a short while after PS5 because I love my PS4 and have to do the updates if I want to keep playing online.

Re: Sony: We Haven't Forgotten Why the PS4 Was Successful

Real_Obsi

They just said the right things at the right time and Microsoft... well... their marketing and range of games were what your parents thought you wanted... you know?
A lot of what i see today still seems to be laced with that “too old to be working in games” feel... like all the decissions are made by a comitee of Gates’ old colleagues XD

Re: Crash Bandicoot Update Adds New Level and HDR Support on PS4

Real_Obsi

Comes out on switch, first thing they do is update the PS4 version... fml
I have a pro, this is nothing about loyalty, but i love my Switch and would love to see continued support and all sorts of titles for it.
This kind of crappy strategic behaviour does nothing to help its chances.
Nint : “Crash B. Finally on Switch at slightly reduced fidelity but mobile”
Sony : “Aw yeah biatch?... HDR and an extra level... eat it”
Its not a big hitter, quit the bullying eh?

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Still in Pre-Alpha Stage

Real_Obsi

@Gamer83 if they did that it would simply be a PS4 game locked to a PS5 for play.... why? Why would you want that?... its intended for current gen, so even if they do lock it to PS5 we wont see much improvement... just expense... more expense.
