Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 37

SaveAsDoc

@LajnuD Tearaway, Killzone Mercenary, Persona 4 Golden, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush..those are a few I'd recommend. I haven't played most of these for myself, but I've heard they're great from others. But I can definitely say that Golden Abyss is worth the buy. For a handheld game, the gameplay and story definitely live up to the Uncharted name well enough.

Re: Round Up: Metro: Redux PS4 Reviews Celebrate in an Abandoned Subway

SaveAsDoc

As a huge fan of first-person shooters, I'm really interested in the survival aspects of the Metro games, which actually remind me of the old-school Resident Evil games. So, since both games are remastered for the PS4 now (and getting good ratings to boot), I think I'm going to have to check this out on Tuesday. Can't wait!

Re: Review: Mind Zero (PlayStation Vita)

SaveAsDoc

@Sanquine If you're heavily into JRPGs, I think you'll like this more than I did. I was definitely surprised about the varying scores the game has received (ranging from 4 to 8). However, I definitely recommend Conception II. I reviewed that game as well and enjoyed its dungeon crawling and characters far more than what Mind Zero offers. The game's bizarre for sure, but nevertheless has a charm to it. Anyway, thanks for commenting!

Re: Review: Entwined (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

Wow! I was not expecting this indie title to be so great. The fact that it has an excellent art style and soundtrack alone makes me want to play it right now. Thanks for the review, Graham!

Re: Review: Watch Dogs (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

Excellent review, Robert! I think I'll skip out on Watch Dogs for now (I've got so many other games to play), but I'd definitely like to play it someday. Seems worthy enough to check out when it's around $40.

Re: Review: Cel Damage HD (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

@thedevilsjester I'd definitely say it contributed to a 1 point loss at least. It's unfortunate because the developer said they wish they could have added it, but lacked the funds to do so. I only play with friends online, so that's why this was a letdown for me. But if you are able to get together with friends often to play games, I would give this game a cautious recommendation. As a single-player experience, I'd pass on this. Your money could be better spent elsewhere.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Easter Edition 2

SaveAsDoc

Hey everyone! Accidentally missed contributing to this article. Here's what I would've said...

After reaching a point where I'm somewhat stuck in Dark Souls II, I'm going to travel from Drangleic to Seattle this weekend with inFAMOUS: Second Son to catch up on the Paper Trail missions. I'm also replaying the original Spyro the Dragon since it's the subject of an academic paper I'm working on...and no, I'm not pulling your leg.

Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Alduin vs. Bahamut

SaveAsDoc

I'm going to go with Alduin just because of how awesomely evil he was in Skyrim. Judging from the comments, I think this match would be closer than everyone thinks! Since he's a master of the Thu'um and eats the souls of the dead (which is kind of cool if you ask me ), he could be a match for Bahamut.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

Despite the length of this game, I'm actually going to pick it up today since I'm a pretty big fan of MGS. My local Toysrus is including a $10 gift card, so I'm going to jump in and see what Ground Zeroes is like (and yes, Toysrus actually has really awesome deals and promos on games). But I can totally see where everyone is coming from if they're not buying it.

Re: Review: TxK (PlayStation Network - Vita)

SaveAsDoc

@ShogunRok @Fire-and-Water Ha, I know, it's a bizarre title. But seriously, the psychedelic-like graphics are tremendous and simulate the experience known as "trippin' balls." It's such a fitting, elegant, and formal phrase.

Re: Sony's Official Gold Wireless Stereo Headset Sends a Signal to PS4

SaveAsDoc

Oh my...that's a nice headset there. And I can use for multiple devices? I think I might have to pick this up since it's relatively cheap considering other headsets out there.
Also, the sound presets for future games sound amazing. If I end up getting this, I can't wait to see what inFAMOUS: Second Son will sound like!

Re: Talking Point: Is the Vita Really Dying a 'Slow, Painful Death'?

SaveAsDoc

I remember buying a White Vita a little over a year ago when the Assassin's Creed Liberation Bundle was on sale, and after witnessing the handheld's situation from then until now, I really think Sony needs to do what Nintendo needs to do for the Wii U: better marketing and more games. Like what was implied in the article, Sony needs to get across that the Vita is something that's more substantial than what iOS or Android games can offer. Nintendo's already gotten that across with the 3DS with their advertising and excellent game library...now Sony simply needs to do that by enticing developers to get on-board with the Vita.

Great job getting all the information together for this article, Sammy!

Re: Review: Don't Starve (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

@get2sammyb Thanks! Yes, that was one thing I definitely had to point out in my review. Inherently, it's an extremely good game, but it's geared to a more exclusive audience, so I can't recommend to everyone. Definitely try it though (especially since it's free for the time being! )

@ztpayne7 That's a good point; I didn't try out the remote play. Interestingly enough, I actually didn't know you could shift the perspective of the camera until I was writing my review! I noticed this when watching videos online of people playing the PC version of the game, but thankfully, it was completely unnecessary to playing the game...wish I had experimented more with the controls though.

@lvnlavidaloca Ha, can't say I disagree with your summary of the game! Yes, I figured out you could befriend the pigs without a walkthrough, but I wasn't able to make much use of them. However, I can tell that if you recruit a lot of them, they can help you take out a lot of enemies.

@NintendoNaut Thanks! Sounds like it's not your type of game, but I definitely wouldn't pass while it's free. It's definitely a fun adventure for the first couple of hours, so I'd recommend just doing that so you can see what the game is like. Again, like Minecraft, everyone should play it to get a feel for it, but everyone won't feel a draw to the game (like me, for example).

@Cloud7794 Yep, the game has that addictive quality that makes you want to keep playing, but like the said, the difficulty will either keep players striving to get better or discourage them. All about personal taste here!

@belmont Huh, I don't believe I've heard of that game. I'll check it out. Thanks!

@Gemuarto There isn't an apparent story, but it's there. You kind of have to dig for it, and when you do, it's quite interesting (which is especially helped out by the awesome characters and immersive world). I disagree that the art and music aren't great and that the game doesn't have "real" game design, but I slightly see what you're saying. I can imagine the game being boring for some due to the time investment and grind of getting items, exploring the world, etc. As for Tokyo Jungle, I've heard the mixed reactions about it, but I'll take a look at it. Thanks for commenting!

Re: Talking Point: Will Someone Please Frag Online Exclusive Trophies

SaveAsDoc

Totally agree when it comes games like these, Sammy. Like with what you mentioned about Uncharted 2, needing to earn a few copper trophies to get the Platinum is fine. After all, the multiplayer is a lot of fun! And even if it wasn't, sinking a few hours into getting those trophies wouldn't bother me that much. But the ones that require you to get to the max level and complete ridiculous challenges in multiplayer...they've got to go.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was when this brought me to a boiling point. In AC2, I played for hours to unlock the Platinum trophy. It was an incredible feeling to eventually earn it, so I planned to do this in Brotherhood. However, when I found you have to earn trophies in the multiplayer mode to get the Platinum, I didn't even bother attempting that. I love AC, but I'm just not a big fan of the multiplayer, and I wasn't able (or should I say motivated?) to get the Platinum for that game. And Tomb Raider was the same. -_-

Re: Talking Point: What New Year's Resolutions Should Sony Make in 2014?

SaveAsDoc

If I were to chose one thing that Sony should focus on in 2014, it should be the Vita. Unfortunately, it's in the same position as the Wii U. Both are excellent pieces of hardware brimming with potential, but they suffer from bad marketing and a slow output of killer exclusive games. Why, I finished Uncharted: Golden Abyss a couple of days ago and was blown away by what the Vita is capable of...and I haven't even touched Killzone: Mercenary or Tearaway yet! If Sony can just promote the system more clearly and effectively in addition to bringing in first party and third party developers to make games for it, it'll be a major success. Look at the 3DS's past and where it is now. Nintendo recovered from the handheld's initial failure, and if it can, so can the Vita.

Re: Review: Tiny Brains (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

Excellent review, Mat! I'd heard about this game a couple of months ago and thought it had some potential, but since I'm more of a solo gamer, I didn't keep this game on the radar. However, if I somehow get a group of friends to play this, I might give it a chance.

Re: Review: Sound Shapes (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

@get2sammyb Thanks, Sammy! Yes, I agree that the game is definitely worth trying to get the Platinum trophy for. And since each one of those Death Mode levels earns you a silver trophy? It's very enticing to play them because of that (in addition to being really fun challenges too).

Re: Review: Knack (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

Excellent review, Marcello! I've played about 4 hours of the game so far and am enjoying it as well (although I wish there was more varied and difficult platforming instead of very frequent combat). Although I disagree that the voice acting is solid (it's very "cheesy" imo, which I wonder if the developer intended or not), everything else you've said is fair and agreeable. I think most critics have just been too hard on the game as if they were expecting something with a deep story, extremely varied gameplay, etc.

Anyway, I can't wait to finish it! As a big fan of Crash and Spyro, it's great to see a game inspired by those classic platformers.

Re: Review: Trine 2: Complete Story (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

@divenlite Hopefully you'll be able to play it sometime soon. Do you have a Wii U? From what I've seen and read from other reviewers, the experience is largely the same on this platform. If you can't play on your PC, I'd recommend trying another route to play it if you want. But if you want to wait to play it on your PC (or even the PS4), go for it!

@Visiblemode The price tag is a bit on the high side for this game, but in my opinion, is totally justified due to the quality and decent replay value of the game. However, definitely pick it up if it goes on sale. If it were $10-15, that would be a steal!

@odd69 I don't think there's a reason to purchase this again if you already own it. Unfortunately, Frozenbyte was not able to bring the DLC to the PS3 or Xbox 360 due to the poor sales on those platforms. One of the dev team members said this here (http://frozenbyte.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=14590/).
The Wii U version is the superior version in regard to its extra content. However, it is a bit cheaper on the PS3 ($15), so I don't believe you got the shaft in regard to its price. As for this version being $20, I personally disagree that it's overpriced due to the insane high quality of and content in the game, but I will agree that the price is definitely not cheap (it's just worth it in the end, especially if someone hasn't played the game before). Hope I addressed your questions well enough!

Re: Review: Trine 2: Complete Story (PlayStation 4)

SaveAsDoc

@divinelite Ha, I can definitely see that happening. Yes, the graphics of this game are just stunning. I honestly can't believe that the developer had the ability and talent to make it look so incredible.

@NintendoNaut Thank you! I unfortunately haven't played the first game, so I really want to check it out now.

@Spidernoir Glad to hear it! If you can, the best way to play would probably be with friends. But even if you play solo, you're still in for an excellent, worthwhile purchase!
