@Mikey856 you say you bought it to play videogames but as soon as your done playing videogames you then open Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc.
Make it make sense. Do you really switch inputs to open those same apps when you're done playing a videogame when you could instead just launch those on the PS5?? If you do, then you have very inefficient processes. But hey, you do you.
I use mine PS5 for gaming primarily, but then when I'm done gaming I then use it to watch Hulu and prime. It's more efficient and saves time vs switching inputs to launch those same apps on a different device.
This is why I never understood the yelling from gamers who say
"I don't buy a console for movies, shows etc. I buy it for games."
They know dang well when they're done playing a game on PS5 they just launch Netflix directly on their PS5, and then watch Netflix via their PS5 lol.
This is why Sony brought the 'Sony Pictures Core' --formerly Bravia Core, to the PS5.
Sony understands markets, consumer behavior, their competitors strategies, and is responding appropriately. They may possibly (although unlikely) begin to bring their shows and direct to streaming movies they produce for Netflix, paramount+, peacock etc directly to the PS5 through that app. That way they can maximize and get the most out of their franchises. That may not materialize, but if they are being strong armed by their competitors there's an opening for them to have an alternative solution .
For example, if twisted metal, god of war, last of us isnt renewed on Peacock, Amazon Prime, or Max (HBO Max) then they can release it on PS5.
Gamers don't understand this because all they know is how to game.
Sony was smart when they said theyd invest $18 billion across all of Sony in movies/tv, music, and gaming. While gamers were upset and thought they should spend it all on a single publisher Sony understood what was going on years ago and did this to ensure they can remain fully competitive. They said it best in PR when they said what Microsoft was saying and doing was all "Smokes and mirrors".
Yea so what. This is only being made an issue because it has the Sony name on it.
Microsoft Corporation (not Xbox) just had 38TB of data leaked last week and the gaming community didn't even blink because they were focused on a mistake made by their lawyers when uploading data to the FTC
Why cant you commenters figure this simple strategy out. It's explained below
1. Create live service games for dependable revenue (E1) 2. Use income from dependable live service games to create 1st party single player games (E2)
E1 — live service games are created to create guaranteed RECURRENT revenue. the income is dependent on in house 1st party games and not on 3rd parties who can be acquired thus it avoids the risk of shutting off revenue i.e redfall, starfield, COD
E2 — since the income stream from live service games is recurrent and is from 1st party and NOT 3rd party i.e Call of Duty it can be used to continue to make content (single player 1st party games) and is guaranteed to NOT BE TAKEN AWAY thus ensuring there is income to CONTINUE making single player games for that smaller player base!
The only companies I see impacted In a negative way from this acquisition the most is 3rd party gaming companies EA, Rockstar etc.
The reason they are the most exposed is because with Sony now focusing to be more dependent on revenue from in house studios and with Microsoft now getting gamers use to no longer want to buy games (GAAS) The 3rd party companies wont be approached as much for exclusive bids and marketing rights, so they'll either be forced to put the game on GAAS ( PS Plus, GamePass) with a ***** offer, continue the traditional direct to sales, or just be acquired.
It's 60% of revenue from live service and 40% revenue from one and done games people! That means going forward 60% of RECURRING revenue will be from live service games while the remaining 40% will come from 3rd party licenses sales from DLC, and first party one and done games.
I'm still trying to figure out why NFTs are a bad thing... You clearly stated it allows users to sell their NFTs which is what NFTs are for in the first place so it generates a revenue stream to the gamer/user as well. What's wrong with this?
The deal isn't really that complex... Uhhh why hasn't anyone mentioned that it was probably more expensive because it was a shorter run time? 5 weeks on PS Plus vs 3 years on Xbox?? Not to also mention the cost of Inflation 3 years later. C'mon PushSquare..... Of course if the run window is shorter it will cost more. That's how's it's always been in business dealings.
@WallyWest there is nothing wrong with being a fan of your brand of choice. (Bootlickers if you want to call it that ) Obviously having fans (aka bootlickers) helps sell and generate good press due to perception and helps the company succeed. I'd rather be a bootlicker vs a whining Karen/Chad that complains nonstop because it gets you nothing except being on the losing side.
Man you Sony fans (if you can even be called that ) are something else.
The biggest difference between Xbots and Sony fans is that Xbots actually support what their brand is doing for literally EVERYTHING. It drums up good press.
I like how when Sony tries to come up with ways to gain extra revenue to stay competitive against their main rivals unlimited finances and each time they come up with a new revenue generator they get shunned. It's almost like PlayStation is trying to remain competitive and be forward thinking but their fans keep them stuck in the past and then get mad because Microsoft is somehow pushing the industry forward and Sony is somehow playing catch-up. Wow...
That Xbox GamePass service thing... We know it's got old games and indie games and no must have titles at the moment.. you know what? Xbots promote that service like no other.
That PS+ premium service thing... We know its got old games, indie titles, and blockbuster hits at the moment... You know what? Sony fans ignore the hell out of it, seldom talk about it, and if they do talk about it, they fault it for not having a day 1 title.
I applaud Sony for trying to figure out a way to make extra revenue to continue to be competitive through a survey related to NFTs. Great job and keep it up. I do think Sony needs some real fans because honestly I'm the only one it seems.
