Doesn't appeal to me personally, but at least it's three games for people who haven't upgraded and not making the third game PS5-only even though it's a multiplatform title.
@Beyondclem According to the developers it sounded like they'd been working on this for 2 years. If that's accurate, I can't believe that noone from Rockstar or Take Two had seen no issues. At least Cyberpunk had a working PC version as an excuse, GTA seems to have problems on all platforms.
I believe that the true Definitive Edition would have been the reverse engineered code complete with certain plugins. Hopefully something will result from the legal battles in the long term which will allow for such development, but it seems that they're intent on killing off the mod scene for the original games too.
Did Rockstar ever make any attempts to fix the original "remasters" on the PS3 and 360?
A similar thing happened there, with the original versions disappearing from stores and being replaced with the newer HD versions which were awful, and anyone wanting to buy digitally were stuck with the lesser releases.
@banacheck The original PC games can look great with mods though; they show that it's possible to increase the video resolution, texture resolution, and draw distances without reducing the charm of the original.
@mrbone I found the service great back when they included Vita and PS3 titles, I usually had 2 or more games worth playing each month and stacked up 2 year in advance. But since dropping those platforms it's been much lower value for me. I'm only finding 1 game worth playing every 2 months recently. It would be better if the PS5 titles came with the PS4 version as well for people who haven't upgraded yet. If I can't get a great deal on the renewal I may let it lapse for a while.
