The Concord beta is now open to everyone over the weekend, across both PS5 and PC. And, if you jumped into the early access beta last weekend, you can dive straight back into this open period, with your previous progress intact. But will you be taking Concord for a spin over the next few days?
We quite enjoyed our time with the aforementioned early access test, and we've got fairly high hopes for this follow-up. "Concord is a delightfully vibrant and robust shooter that just about feels ready to go," is what we wrote in our Concord PS5 preview. "It's a polished and premium product that already has a solid foundation to grow upon," we concluded.
However, with word of low player counts already starting to spread, this open beta could prove to be a crucial excursion for the Sony-published shooter. And so we ask: are you playing the Concord open beta? Vote in our polls, and then start blasting in the comments section below.
Are you playing the Concord open beta? (3,074 votes)
- Yes, of course I'm playing it

Did you play the Concord early access beta last weekend? (1,381 votes)

I played it on the weekend and enjoyed what I played but I do enjoy hero shooters in general like Apex and Overwatch so it's up my street. I will get the game on release and play as much as I can in the first few months just in case it dies off.
I played it last weekend, didn't really care for it. I prefer co-op multiplayer like helldivers 2.
I enjoyed it, but didn’t love it. I’ll play more if I have the time. While it’s free, it’s a decent enough break from the frustrations of Erdtree.
I played and enjoyed it last weekend. As progress doesn’t carry over to the full release I am probably going to leave it this weekend and dive in properly when it’s out.
No, I have been busy playing 3/10 game The First Descendant.
Lmfao how much more data do you need to confirm this is going to Be a massive flop.
Aside from the few thousand that try it and the few hundred people that play and enjoy it,... it's pretty clear that not only is this just uninteresting and generic, but even more apparent is that most people didn't even try it because, again it's uninteresting and generic.
People didn't want this. There's no demand for this already well trodden trend, and thus it will fail.
I would wager that even a good majority of those that did enjoy it won't play it on release because it is a f2p scheme of which you have to pay to play....
Hero shooters are already bloated enough these days, let alone a sub par competitor that’s at a semi premium price compared to all its competitors being free to play these days.
Was a slight pass before playing the beta, now definitely a hard pass after suffering through said beta.
Played last weekend. Will play this weekend. Already put my preorder down!!! This has quickly become a comfort game for me
The idea of this being about a "crew" of space vagabonds makes me wish desperately that it had some larger scale modes like 3/4 person teams in an extraction sort of mode. (Think COD DMZ in spaaaaaaaaaace.)
PvPvE with space heist/extraction shooter vibes would have been super cool and far more original than this.
I have no interest in a generic arena shooter.
I'm definitely going to be playing it in between watching EVO coverage. Hopefully more people on PC give it a go now that the pre-order requirement is gone. It really is much better than people are giving it credit for.
I really hope it finds an audience!
I'd have answered: No, because it's not F2P and I'm not paying for a PS+ sub just to give it a go.
I'd definitely have given it a shot if I could do so for free however. Still think the character designs are awful but I liked Destiny and Halo so maybe it plays really well.
Not really my kind of game anyway, but even if it was, I've been too busy killing those filthy English in Jeanne D'Arc.
Seems like all the haters are voting.
Man....I know this game is DOA. But I didn't think a Poll would be DOA also!
Played the early access. It was generic trash
I liked the character sand gameplay well enough. But I need to see what the 2 modes not included in the Beta are all about. I didn't like the 1 death elimination style mode and I was sick of the team death match and trophy hunt modes by the end of the last Beta.
The game looks visually appealing but doesn’t bring anything particularly new/unique to the table. The $40 price tag feels a bit too much, especially when you consider how many free-to-play options are out there with similar gameplay. Just my two cents, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it as a PS Plus Essential freebie in a few months
@UltimateOtaku91 "I will get the game on release and play as much as I can in the first few months just in case it dies off."
If you're not even optimistic about it's future than the game is more screwed than I thought 😅 the game does look very polished and nothing looks bad but we'll see if it will be successful without it having to do something original.
Yeesh, those poll results don't bode well for the success of this game.
Live service games, in general, aren't my thing.
@GamingFan4Lyf
Seriously. And this being a Sony focused site this is essentially the target audience.
PS really wants to push Concord, it seems!
Not on the agenda..
I dont even know how to download the beta
The people that are going to play a game like this are already playing a game like this.
I feel like this game is going to make Suicide Squad's failure seem small in comparison. I hope Sony didn't dump too much money into this investment.
I played it for about 2 hours. Tried a few different heroes. This game is honestly DOA especially when they are charging the price they are charging. Why wouldn't you play Overwatch or Valorant or any other F2P shooter that has already ironed out their problems long ago and are totally FREE. Concord is clunky and unoriginal. I'm sure this game is going F2P in a few months and even then its going to flounder.
I got a beta invite code (currently don't have PS+) so I got to play all last weekend. Since this open beta doesn't require PS+, I'm currently giving it a try to test out the added mode, but my expectations are low. I was less-than-impressed after last weekend.
Concord's conundrum, especially on console, is this: Sony wants me to pay $40, plus maintain a PS+ subscription, to play an inferior Overwatch 2 when I could just download Overwatch 2 and play completely free without a console subscription needed.
Why?
What's the hook that would make me want to spend the money on Concord? Because after last weekend's beta and the open beta thus far, I'm not seeing one. Everything about the game has been sterile, generic, derivative. Nothing about the characters or the "story" or the gameplay makes me want to run out and spend $40 and resubscribe to PS+ just to play it. If it had a stand alone PVE mode at launch, that would differentiate it from its competitors and make it more compelling — but it doesn't.
It's just Dollar Store Hero Shooter: The Game.
I feel dejavu. I think last week i already voted for this survey.
Again no, i didn't played the beta cause i'm busy playing games that are fun to me. Just finished Sky Force Anniversary and Metro Last Light Redux and now i'm playing Dragon Blaze and Rogue Galaxy at chapter 6.
Sony should make more RPG like Rogue Galaxy, Jeanne D'Arc, or Wild Arms. But what they did right now are throwing a lot of money for this bland looking AAA live service games with DEI pronounce for the characters.
Man...why oh why old Jimbo closed Japan and London Studio who made tons of great games but quickly acquired Firewalk and Jade Raymond studio just for them to make these bland looking live service games that almost no one wants to play 🤦♂️
I enjoyed last weekends beta but I would much rather this be a Co op pve game with a deep narrative that also happened to have pvp bits.
@Dalamar I get this is a Sony focused site so there is some “fanboyism” to be had but can we stop pretending that people who don’t like the game are hating on it for no reason? I tried the beta. The game is a dud. It isn’t intuitive or even fun. Really just lacks a soul. This is a game that seems to be created purely from a checklist handed down to developers by executives, and if this really is a passion project by Firewalk then Sony needs to rethink their acquisitions. The only people that like this game are the diehard Sony fanboys that think every Sony first party game is a masterpiece. This game is simply not good and will fail hard.
No. Playing this game goes against my principles.
Daaaamn... Those numbers... Haha, it's dead on arrival.
Nah dog.im chilling and having fun with other games.word up son

Reality is that it’s a solid game that does play well, but it is being priced for failure. Also while it plays good and is fun it doesn’t do enough to stand out from other similar games that are free.
This or watching paint dry?
Next tin please.
We also should not forget, that, even though we have clear numbers here, we are CORE GAMERS, and there are a lot of people out there who aren't. This community may be a minority after all and potentially a lot of people will play the game. That may be the bet of Sony. I'm ready to get surprised, but still the stars aren't that well aligned for this game it seems.
(It should probably still be F2P, so that you don't need PSPLUS for this)
played it last weekend
I think theyve got so wrapped up with making it fair lack of ultimate's, cant select same characters if you win. they have made it less fun than it could have been
despite it genericness
I have no time for a hero shooter. Looks lame and g. I do hope they put more appealing characters in the game for people who enjoy it. I don't see people buying cosmetics for the current cast of toons. I should also add that I am not going to paying to play a game online on PlayStation either
wow that no counter shot up fast.
i see this game go down on the same day wb shuts down suicide squad. oktober or november.
@jrt87
This game can go flop out of existence asap.
Sony cancelling Factions 2 while financing this crap is such a reflection of how absolutely pathetic our industry has been since PS4
@jrt87 yeah.. you might have a point
however.. someone at Sony must have created some sort of viability plan for this??
@Korgon who do you have winning EVO? Me money is on Big Bird.
@jrt87 "sony fanboy". It's crazy to think that people fight over movies and TV too lol 😆😆
@s22222
I'm thinking Hikaru if I had to make a guess. Granted I'm biased since he uses my main AKI. 😄
@Korgon AKI mains are eating good in season 2.
@thechetearly yep, pretty much 🫤🫤
@playstation1995 yep yawn I'm playing like a dragon infinite wealth currently, far more fun than this bore 😴😴
History just shows that games like this just dont last or work.
From what I've seen and read the game works when everyone works together. Which unless compelling enough never works and dies a slow painful death.
Helldivers worked because you are basically a run of the mill infantry solider and your just set out to kill, simple and fun.
This game, way to many characters to get a grip with, clear favourites will emerge and then the game will die, because no one will be bothered to keep up or they can just play overwatch for free.
Its that simple. They are trying to tell a single player story with breaks of 5v5 hero shooter.
I know the poll.here isn't a solid indication but even here its a pretty big no, its not even close.
Even if you paid me, I would still not play it
@Satan-is-Real Your comment made me chuckle.
I tried the early access beta last week and got what I needed from playing. If it were a FTP game when it launches, I would go back and check it out further perhaps but no way am I paying for an average shooter.
@JalapenoSpiceLife. Yeah like a dragon infinite wealth is really good game.definetly a more fun game than concord.word up son
Innovate don't saturate
@DonJorginho i keep seeing people say this but other then overwatch what other hero shooter we had in the last ten years? apex? i would say thats a battle royale not a hero shooter, paladins? came out like ten years ago, valorant maybe?
