The second game in Falcom's 'Crossbell' duology has finally been officially released in the West, and existing fans will know how much of a big deal that is. Trails to Azure is the explosive sequel to Trails from Zero, and these two titles feed directly into the Trails of Cold Steel series. What a time to be alive!
If you're a fan of more traditional Japanese RPGs, then we couldn't recommend Trails to Azure enough. Together with its predecessor, you've got one of the most gripping role-playing sagas in (relatively) modern gaming.
Indeed, we gave this sequel a rare and impressive 9/10 in our Trails to Azure PS4 review, piling praise on its characters, storytelling, and the way that it enriches the aforementioned Cold Steel arc. "In terms of impactful plot points, Azure is up there with the finest of Trails titles — a twisting, turning, gripping RPG that should really be considered a classic," we wrote.
But we know that this is still a niche franchise, and so we ask: are you playing Trails to Azure? Are you already a fan of Falcom's games? Vote in our polls, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.
Are you playing Trails to Azure? (411 votes)

Are you a fan of the Trails franchise? (381 votes)

- Yeah, I like it
- Nah, but I'd like to try it

I have played the two trails in the sky on PSP and loved them, what is next in the series?
Taking a break to try and play Diablo IV, but I shall be cracking on with it shortly. I have next week off to play it, which was a happy accident!
@Feena Trails the 3rd
I've bought it but I still need to play Sky 3rd and Trails from Zero first.
I'm waiting for my limited edition set to come through the door, but the estimated delivery time keeps getting later and later, and sometimes dissapears completely 😭
@Lord_Malice I’ll have to try and patch it!
After that it’s Zero?
@Feena Yes, definitely play on PC with the patch, the voice acting adds so much and is excellent! Zero follows the Third, and carries on some major plot points from it.
I haven't had as much time to play it as I would like but yes I'm playing it at the moment. It's one of the reasons I'm holding off on picking up RE4. I'm also still working on Ishin. Too many games I want to play!
I have it but am still playing hogwarts and want to play yakuza ishin and RE4 first . I always pick up trails games at launch though given they are niche, just in case they get a limited print run
I currently playing zero and looking forward to azure once I'm done so I'm full ready for Reverie this summer. Such a great series.
@Lord_Malice thank you!
Where's the "Already played it" option?
I have not yet caught up on the franchise to that point (still finishing Trails in the Sky SC); but I am working on it, and hope to eventually get to this one.
The poll does not have the option "I have played the fan translation ages ago"😉
In any case I am a huge trails fan but I consider all this Crossbell arc non sense for a lack of better term, even from the video game logic point of view
@Feena Reverie.
@belmont the Crossbell Arc is one of the best in the series. You may have forgotten how good it is.....
@belmont
As reviewed by PUSH:
Pass. At least for now. Trails in the Sky SC was better than the original game, but neither did much for me, so I'm not hugely motivated to keep playing these games.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but...
Got the Switch versions for both Crossbell games due to better graphics.
Switch games are PC ports and the Playstation is a lower-rez Vita port.
Super excited, gonna get my copy tomorrow, just finished zero, played through all the sky games amd cold steel 1 and 2.
So this is next
@Lebest Still I don't like the Crossbell arc but I don't want to spoil why. Generally speaking the same things keep happening to this city over and over again to the point when the writes seem that they don't know what to do and repeat the same things. There are more stuff but we will get to major spoilers.
I have started it but not sunk my teeth in yet, I am finishing up Kuro No Kiseki 2 first since I am further in that but I'm excited to go back once I'm done with kuro 2 and Azure I have played every trails game.
I've never played any of the games before, will pick this up in a dirt cheap sale years from now.
Already own Cold Steel 2 & 3, will grab the rest soon as I see them on sale.
@Feena Here is how the Trails timeline goes for the games. This may make it easier to understand as you play them, but I suggest ignoring the rest of the page to avoid any spoilers that you find out while playing it.

@SilentS thanks! I will give it a read.
The crossbell arc has been nothing but a waste of time for me.
The story was covered in part in the trails of cold steel games. All crossbell represents to me is a massive delay on the localisation of reverie and kuro.
I am not interested in these old chibi games that take 100 hours. The same goes for Sky. They just missed the window for me and while, yes, i am sure they are good for what they are, i am not interested. I did get PSP versions of them, and i couldn't bring myself to play them. I have others things i'd rather play instead.
Just glad this is over and we can finally move on.
