Well, here we are. Today marks the launch of a new PlayStation console — a mid-gen upgrade in the form of PS5 Pro. Boasting more capable internals and touting Sony's AI-powered PSSR, the angle is that the Pro will let you run PS5 games at higher resolutions without sacrificing performance. The best of both worlds, you could say,
But with the system priced at an eye-watering $700 / £700, it was never going to appeal to anyone outside the hardcore space (and people who have money to burn, obviously!).
Given its target audience, we're left wondering how many Push Square readers have actually snapped up a PS5 Pro. This is an enthusiast website after all, and previous PS5 Pro polls have dished out some... intriguing results.
Indeed, a majority of Push Square users have previously said that they're simply not interested in buying a PS5 Pro — but has the consensus changed now that the console has arrived? Let's find out.
Drop some votes in our polls, and then attempt to explain yourself in the comments section below.
Did you buy a PS5 Pro? (6,371 votes)
- Yes, I had one pre-ordered
- Not yet, but I plan on buying one this year
- Nah, but I'll probably buy one later down the line
- Nope, I'm still waiting to be sold on the console
- No, I have zero interest in the PS5 Pro

I totally bought it. I'm poor but I always find a way to get the good stuff.
Just waiting on the UPS driver!
There should be another voting option along the lines of.
"No but I had a passing interested in getting one until they revealed the price"
I would 100% fall into that category as I'm sure many others would
I'm checking my shipping tracker every five minutes.
I got a ps4 pro i will get a ps5 pro also.word up son
Picking it up from GameStop later today!
Got mine all set up and running.
And enjoying the no comprise.
60fps and pure quality on some of the games I’ve tried.
It gives you that feeling of, I’ve got the best the game can be and a console can be.
£700 for the gains wasn't enough justification for me, as a father and provider. I will however watch carefully as a precursor to PS6, and then prepare to shell out next gen. I will be led by software however, this gen has been mostly dissappointing.
The poll results don’t surprise me too much so far. I figured there’d be some very interested folks who preordered, and there’d be people like me who are perfectly satisfied with their peasant-class PS5 and don’t want to pay the additional Blu-ray drive add-on tax to play their existing games.
More power (quite literally!) to the Pro purchasers, I’ll enjoy my regular PS5, Series X and Switch.
The Switch 2, on the other hand, will be an instant purchase for me.
@wildcat_kickz Also waiting on the UPS driver, and my window got pushed from mid day to late afternoon.
Got mine delivered today. Also got disc drive and stand. Also as a father and provider it was totally worth it lol
Sony hasn't launched in my region yet, so not a chance.
@vikramsingh
You on the moon or summat?
I'm somewhere between waiting and zero interest. Not against owning one but, like someone else mentioned, I'd need to see what new games really justify its existence. Just not that interested in improvements to games already out, as I've probably already played them.
Been playing since 1 p.m, happy what I'm seeing so far, games seem more vibrant.
I'm in between wanting it later down the line and tbh likely will just give it a miss altogether. It'd be hard to justify the outlay even at a reasonable cost but £700 is just too much at this time
I'd also want a newer TV to take full advantage as well and then obviously you're talking about a couple grand at that point
As I've said earlier, I'm just one must-have title with meaningful improvements away from getting it.
Keeping a close eye on news/details around the reported upcoming BG3 pro-patch. 👀
But yeah, as an earlier commenter said, all in all the Switch 2 is a higher priority for now.
Not for me this will be my last console generation I'll be hanging up my controller. I may check out what's going on with the Playstation 7. But gaming and the types of games being released are just not catered for me anymore.
Maybe I've outgrown it. I dunno 🫤
I hope everyone has an amazing time with their new consoles. Enjoy. Peace Out.
Well that proves it, 50% of gamers will be buying a pro! Although for me at least, all the percentages add up to 101% 😂
Can we get an option for: yes, I didn’t pre order but walked into a store and bought one? 😁
Still not really interested right now. Maybe later on.
The only downside ive found so far is it doesnt heat my room up like the old one. I might actually have to put the heating on!
Not interrested. Graphics was always the last thing to care about in games. I've grown up on 320x280
DPD did that thing where they say they tried to deliver but there was nobody home.
I called the depot and they said that's what they do when they're behind schedule and skipping you until the next day.
Should be here tomorrow.
Still can't get the disc drive, have seen some sites saying they're trying to get back in ASAP but know my local game shop not getting any till next year now.
It's amazing all the people who have "zero interest" in the PS5 pro, yet they are on every article and news story about it.
@djlard You most likely meant 320x240, just a slight adjustment to your "old man" pedigree.
Preordered for delivery on … 13 December, subject to inbound logistics (South Africa). Good things come to those who wait (i tell myself as I watch and read all the reviews/updates).
Got mine today been playing Alan Wake 2 since it looks and runs great. Going to check out GT7 shortly. I added the stand and disc drive no issue, was a bit nervous about the pulling the cover off to put the drive in 😬
Yup, just picked it up! Doing all the updates and transfers at work so its ready to go when I get home!
Pre-ordered on Sony direct and got mine delivered 815am. Really enjoying it! Dragon's Dogma 2 difference is crazy. Got Stellar Blade on my wishlist after seeing the improvements there.
@tinCAT-zero haha, yes I can't be doing with fun sponges so I've made use of the 'ignore' for the few who post negativity on, as you say, every article mentioning a product that they're supposedly not at all interested in! People, huh?
I also spent some time on No Man's Sky and F1 24, but I'm going back to DD2 for the rest of the day. Glad we're all enjoying our Pro's!
The lack of a physical drive is the primary reason I did not get one. From a preservation perspective, that is a real problem given the need for online activation.
I have a launch day PS5. If it ever starts to give up the ghost I'll pick up a Pro. Otherwise I see no reason not to just wait for PS6.
@GemDog669 😀 No, I am in India. But glad to see you are enjoying it. Maybe I will be able to grab one soon.
One thing not discussed is; it’s quite noisy. There’s definitely some whine going on.
@OldGamer999 I'll bet that you got used to the difference in about an hour of playtime.
Got mine fired up and ready to go with ff7!
Yep pre-ordered a day after it went live. Still yet to play around as i'm currently moving PS5 games over from External HDD over to the console now i have that extra space. Did check out AC Unity with improved PS4 visual quality setting and yeah its way better then the 900p it was originally at, also checked Horizon FW and yeah stunning as ever but now at 4K/60fps.
@Mostik Will warn i don't think the Pro patch for GT7 is out yet.
@Orochilocka Mine's completely silent.
Mine won’t arrive till 21st.
Where's the "no, but if it weren't so stupidly priced, I would" option?
Yep and I'm very impressed with it so far, of the Pro enabled games I've tried The Last Of Us 2 looks significantly better, as does RE4 and Ratchet & Clank. On a high end OLED it looks amazing and 120hz VRR support is a must to get the most out of it. I also had a go of RE2's RT mode and that now locks to 60fps.
One final thought, the 2tb hard drive is very welcome, after feeling I was constantly running out of space on the base PS5, I've been installing a lot of games without issue, including big games such as GTAV, FFVII Rebirth and GT7
I'm very happy with it
@DennisReynolds ah not mine. It’s whining. And looking around, a bunch of others are too. Eeek!
@Mostik @DennisReynolds no the GT7 patch isn't out yet but you can run it at 4K 120fps
With the way this generation has gone, I'll probably be good with my launch PS5 until PS6 pro comes out (unless they ditch the disk drive altogether, then I'll just move to PC full time). I can count on one hand the PS5 games I have that couldn't have been played on PS4.
It would be interesting if PlayStation decided in the future to go more modular. Launch the system with a discrete GPU (with a proprietary form factor of course, because SONY) and sell upgrades in the future. I would imagine that selling an upgrade to your current console (especially if it was something that was extremely easy to swap by the user) would be more profitable than designing, manufacturing, and shipping a whole new machine.
If I want an underpowered console I'll just buy a Switch instead.
@Loamy annoying as my base console is very quiet. This is quite loud. Might iron out over time, but as of right now, it’s very noticeable.
Preordered and got it set up a few hours ago. Going to be the weekend before I can really get into it.
@Loamy Now you say it yeah i can hear a very light fan noise but other then that its fine.
@Yorgen
Well I have been playing a couple of games for about 4 hours on and off.
And it still does make me smile and think that detail and sharpness is the best I’ve seen in this game. It’s like a warm feeling that you are getting the optimum experience.
I do play on a Sony X95L 65” top end mini led, so that might help.
I would love to see some statistics who bought Ps Pro from past generations.
I guess there was a high percentage of players who didn't have the base console.
Anybody who upgraded from ps4 and ps5, I hope you will get the satisfaction and fun. 🙂
The price is the deciding factor for me. The gains aren't worth the price.
But this goes for everything in gaming right now, non of the prices are going down so we are being premium price for basically old tech. I'd rather wait it out and see what happens.
This will be the first ever console gen or mid gen upgrade, I've decided it's not worth it.
@Loamy did some searching and a bunch of people are reporting the same noise. Seems like there’s a good batch and a bad batch and I just got unlucky. Only in game, I might add. Idle this thing is silent!
will wait for the ps6 when the technology introduced on the pro is more matured
Removed - unconstructive; user is banned
Pre ordered.
Arrived 1030 this morning.
Silent as a fart. (my launch ps5 has a bit of a whistle)
Worth every penny.
YES! but next year. Going to sold my base console first
@Shepherd_Tallon Man that sux. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you to get it tomorrow.
I didnt expect a world of difference with older software tbh, mainly wanted it for what devs will do in future games. But the benifits already feel palpable and I'm suprised by that. Maybe its some kind of expectation bias, but everything seems to visually 'pop' more, like hdr works better or something.
Hopefully you'll see what I mean tomorrow!
@tinCAT-zero that's because there really aren't many articles otherwise. we get bored okay. lol.
@tinCAT-zero they want it but just can’t afford it perhaps? So they are salty lol
I felt that the PS4 Pro was a complete waste of money, it was worse than the base PS4 (considerably louder and hotter) and I couldn't notice any improvement in performance or fidelity in the games I played.
I am hopeful that the PS5 Pro will fare better; but only time will tell.
@Member_the_game Well it looks like you were right about the poll being today. Now we just need an article about someone getting a brick inside their box instead of a Pro or a bunch of them being stolen off a lorry. 😂
@OldGamer999 yeah, I know what you mean. I wish you that it lasts for a long time! It's like I booted Miles Morales for the first time on PS5 and was switching between fidelity and performance. In the end decided on fidelity cos of those window reflections. But got used to that too fast...
It’s a really cool looking system but just not personally worth it for me. Most games already look great to me in performance mode since I’m not super close to my TV. The few games that do look a little muddy (like Rebirth) aren’t much of a problem as my TV has a pretty good sharpening effect.
I’m happy with my current PS5 but I hope those getting the Pro have a good time with it. It’s always exciting when new hardware releases!
@Loamy yeah like a mechanical buzzing sound. Along with the whine. Ugh
I may buy one IF .......... My current launch PS5 dies.
But otherwise I am happy with what I have
I successfully made it home on my lunch break to meet the UPS Delivery driver and sign for the package. Now I’m back at work, wishing that I could be home tinkering with the new PS5 Pro.
@Loamy ok it ONLY makes that sound when playing games that have been enhanced for PS5 Pro. Veilguard, Dragon’s Dogma 2 both make the noise. Metaphor Refantazio does not.
Removed - unconstructive
I'm setting mine up rn. And by setting up I mean downloading games that weren't on the additional SSD (which I will plug in afterwards) because the data transfer over network refused to work 🤷
Not the best first impression but likely an issue not specific to the Pro.
@Voltan Out of curiosity, can you transfer the SSD over and have it work or do you need to redownload the games?
Had some issues with the data transfer from my old launch PS5 - had to go the back up and restore route - left details on the How to transfer article, and a couple of others have too.
More or less sorted now, just finishing up downloading a few games I still had on my internal drive now.
@Rich33
Enjoy the gaming.
I’ve stopped to eat before I pass out 🤣
@evan23 According to the Digital Foundry video I watched last night, you can just have games from the PS5 on it and they will pop up on the other console when you install it.
I can confirm later today.
My birthday is in January, so i might treat myself. I'm not really fussed honestly. The only real reason to have one today is to be able to SAY that I have one. As long as I upgrade in time for Ghost of Yotai I'm fine.
Just set mines up 👍
@Titntin Cheers, bud.
What I keep thinking about is that first time I played Uncharted 4 on PS4 Pro after playing it for months on PS4.
I very clearly remember thinking, feck me it's like I've just put on a pair of glasses and I can see their faces finally.
If PS5 Pro can even match that feeling then I'll be well happy.
@evan23 Nope just move the SSD over and the games will be there, no redownloading required. Make sure to do it after the set up though because if you do it fresh from the box it may reformat the SSD due to different firmwares.
@Voltan If you have a lan cable the transfer is easier and far quicker.
@Rich33 As long as you're signed in with the same PSN ID, you can always transfer the SSD to another console without the need to re-download anything. That's stated in the official Sony FAQ.
@Titntin I wasn't going to but.... someone told me Very is offering 20% off a first order if you sign up to their credit agreement. As I have zero plans to use their credit service I have paid in full and will cancel it after I have the console so it's effectively £140 off... which conveniently puts it right into the bracket I said I would pay... so I put my money where my mouth is. Should arrive Saturday.
Also just saw I can sell my PS5 for £250 - £300 so it evens out at around £275 for the console.
Now I just have to find a bloody disc drive! Willing to pay a little over as I saved £140 but prices are crazy.
I just order the new playstation 5 Pro from EE website £42 pounds monthly payment
Only thing I don't like right now is that there's no USB-A ports on the front, so my licensed Power-A charging cable has to be plugged into the back.
@themightyant Congrats mate. Im sure you will enjoy it, and thats a great deal you got yourself!
I got one......for free 😋
Dam right I did. Games pre patch are looking a lot cleaner. Helldivers on performance mode seems cleaner and Black Ops looked a bit washed out on 120hz but it's looking at least 1440p now
i'm good, i see nothing worth playing on it to buy it
@Topov81
The M2 SSD moved over just fine, but the data transfer of Settings, Media, and Saves (which cannot be saved to an M2 drive) failed. Saves can be ported via the cloud of course but the others cant.
I ended up fixing it, with a bit of help, by backing up my old console (except games) to USB, and restoring on Pro.
Most of my games were on the M2, but it didnt have space for a few (which I had planned to transfer with my settings / media etc), so ive ended up redownloading.
Ive contacted Sony, having seen a few other reports of this, but they were more or less useless - might be linked to launch PS5's and high amount of media.
@rjejr
hahaha it was never in doubt 😂
@DennisReynolds It would be nice if it worked - but it didn't for me.
@evan23 I can confirm moving the SSD worked just fine
Nah didn't get one, I have a 10 year old tv so wouldn't do it justice. I'll hold on till PS6 methinks and maybe upgrade the tv in the future. We shall see.
Got the pro and a 4tb mem stick, took about 15 minutes to put in the mem and setup the system.
Still downloading all my ps5 games
No interest whatsoever in replaying games from the last 4 years with slightly better graphics. Maybe if gta6 is unplayable on ps5 I'd consider it but I'm guessing it'll run just fine
Last generation I had a PS4.
This generation I got a PS5. Then I got my wife a Switch when her dad died (Animal Crossing is a pretty decent grief counselor). Then I got a Series X for Flight Simulator. Then I built a PC for the first time in 15 years. Then I took the plunge and got the Quest 3 (and am totally enamored with VR).
If I get a PS5 Pro, my wife WILL kill me.
I put my name in the hat for the 30th anniversary bundle but it did not get pulled out.
@Orochilocka I can't really hear mine and I have very sensitive ears for annoying things.
My brain has been so fried lately that I was legit shocked when I opened it up and saw a new controller when obviously it’s a basic necessity for a console :’)))))) I need sleep
@CWill97 You were probably legit shocked to see a controller in the box after reading Sony on the packaging.
@TheKurgan well, it doesn’t come with a stand that probs costs much less than a $1 to make, so in that sense, a controller being included is wild 😂😭😂
I'm getting through the setup phase bit by bit.
I transferred as much data as I could earlier today. Installed a shiny new 2tb ssd and attached an internal sata ssd via a sata/usb bridge to give me almost 6tb to play with.
Now just redownloading the games that weren't in the transfer.
I'm sure I'll get to play sometime this weekend...
@CWill97 i put a usb microscope on it to see if its still textured with the playstation symbols (it is😂). I also had to google what to do with the “stands”!
@DrVenture69 I remember opening up the base PS5 and was amazed with how cool the textures felt. Tbh I haven’t noticed it on the Pro yet but I just got it a couple hours ago. I could pass as blind so if it requires a microscope, I’ll never find out 😭😂😭
@TheKurgan yeah, from other people online, there’s a bunch doing it. Hit or miss but I’ll be returning my console in the morning
Yes,got it today. Ps5 pro, stand and Disc drive.
Tested bunch of games already.
Stellar blade, F1 24,Crew motorfest, FF rebirth, GranTurismo7, Rise of the ronin, Wukong and Call of Duty BO6.
Absolutely happy with purchase.
No regrets. Worth every single penny 👌
@CWill97 Exactly! 🤣
I’m typically a Day One person, but as quickly as the PS5 generation seems to be running the PS6 will be out before we know it. I may get one, but it’s unlikely.
Costing over $1000 in Canada, Sony basically priced it out of the range of many who may have been interested. That said, a Pro wont be even an after thought for a long time, if ever.
@CWill97 i dont think you would ever see it in real life. You’re not missing a huge deal, but its really cool to know they’re there😂👍
I'm sorry but no way. I ain't plopping down $700 for the same console I got but just a little better. If I'm dropping that kind of cash it needs to be an actual generational leap, not a mid-gen refresh. It's as simple as that.
@HappyGamerGirl Well said. If they’re not interested, go read/respond to another article. I think i’m going to be a bit more brutal with the mute button too
I have received it already. But I will go to sleep before switching it on
I'd rather eat a hand full of sand than waist money on another "Pro" system from Sony.
Ive noticed on my pro that the light bar only reaches half way along the console (i had a launch ps5 before and was way brighter).
I have went into the settings and its set to standard (bright) is this something common on the slim and pro ?? I have my console horizontally btw.
No I interest tbh. So far it's been a bit of a dodgy generation. Few new games that appeal. Last full price game was Dragons Dogma, next will probably be Kingdom Come 2.
@Jrs1 Same here. Also, I've lowered it to the dim setting because it's way too bright on standard for me.
I added red light strips on my OG that dimmed it out nicely without settings, plus some Dbrand Darkplates 2.0 long before Sony introduced their own black cover plates. I'm not very happy that Sony have made the Slim cover plates incompatible, I need black! I'll wait it out this time.
@TheKurgan Waiting on the black also 👍
@evan23 I can definitely confirm from my first hand experience it works, I removed my ssd from my PS5 when I sold it at the weekend (got £232 from Cex which I'm very happy with as I only paid £418 for the launch model back in December 2020) and when I installed it in my pro today, all the games were there after the database rebuild it initiated.
Very happy with my pro so far, sure its not night and day in most scenarios, but the improvements that are there already, are worth it for me. And I look forward to seeing games being designed with it in mind going forward, as well as the expected improvements to PSSR with time.
I also echo others about the 2tb built in, very nice and now that alongside the 2tb m2 ssd, I can have so much more installed at one time which is always nice.
@DennisReynolds didn't do this to me thankfully, I installed mine before intial boot of the console.
All the games are on pc. I got a 4090. I don't need a pro. ff7 rebirth will come to pc and I will get it again there and save the $700.
Nah... i skipped on it. I will get the upgrade on the ps6 and get a switch 2 instead.
I got one and rather unfortunately the first PS5 Pro enhanced game I tried, Jedi Survivor, is rather disappointing. The quality mode is still a locked 30fps and the performance had some massive graphical bug with what appears to be the ambient occlusion implementation that makes the entire environment flicker. It's distracting to the point of being unplayable.
That game has been a technical mess since the beginning, so that's par for the course I guess.
Luckily subsequent games have faired better, but Jedi Survivor was the one game I was really looking forward to getting a boost because the RT lighting in the original version was quite nice, but 30fps was too big a trade off.
Hopefully they can fix the bug, but even then it's still disappointing that there's still a 30fps mode in the Pro version. IMO Sony should have made a mandate that any Pro enhanced game must run 60fps minimum. I mean their dang presentation for the thing started off by saying 75% of players user performance modes. There should be no 30fps mode in Pro games.
I got one and it's been an absolute nightmare
1 - sony cancelled my order cuz I forgot to change my address on the website
2 - the first store I went to dropped the console on the counter so I had to find a different store
3 - second store I went to said they had none, so I went outside, checked my phone, it said they had 5 so I went back in and they eventually found one for me - total drive was 3 hours
4 - games have been transferring from my slim all day and it won't be done until 3 am
10/10 would do again
@LowDefAl Those top 3 options are all essentially “yes” options…
@Meowmixes98 am poor too, but am moving house and don't even have a good TV. It's not the fact I wouldn't buy the pro, I would love too, I just can't afford it
@extragood Ohh yeah. I've mixed it with in those times hi-end 640x480. 😀
No I didn't and I also don't have "MUG" tattooed on my forehead
@Shepherd_Tallon They did that to a friend of mine yesterday, although we live in the same block and he's right next to the front door. *It was probably a coin toss, I'm glad I got mine over him...
@LiamOliver I didn't know it was even a thing they did until the person on the the phone at the depot told me.
Apparently it's on the way again today... 🤞
@Shepherd_Tallon Oh, my god, so sorry for you °_° got mine yesterday and then had to spend about 5hours (!!!) to figure out a way to transfer from PS5 to Pro (just save data as i have a 4tb SSD so just put all my games on that and physically transfer.. a breeze)
Transfer data tried multiple times with ethernet cable with no luck => ~2h (you have to wait like 30 min before it tells you it failed)
Finding a solution online (the only solution for my case - multiple non PS+ user on the console) 30 min
backing up PS5 on USB: 2h
restoring on Pro: 30 min
Barely played, yesterday, but what I tried I liked a lot ^^ can't wait for close of business today ^^ hope you get yours soon !
@Kalime78 I thought I was fully prepared - On Wednesday I uploaded all of my saves to the cloud, then copied all of my games over to my external drive and my expansion SSD.
I was good to go... I just ended up with no console on Thursday 😂
@HappyGamerGirl Is No Man's Sky worth revisiting for the update? I've been mildly satisfied with it all those years back on PS4....
@Shepherd_Tallon it'll be here soon ! and you'll enjoy it twice as much with all the anticipation ! cheers ^_^
@Orochilocka not in mine so far... to be confirmed... but something I payed attention to as I m very sensitive to any noise, and so far found it is quieter than my launch PS5.
@Shepherd_Tallon A firm I worked at used them and it was really annoying when they did it way back then. We ended up getting so many refunds for delayed delivery I'm surprised they haven't given up on it.
Luckily my living room window looks out over the road so I can see the van coming and be downstairs before they get to the front door, although the app is pretty good for tracking the van, but bear in mind a lot of vans are intentionally set behind or ahead so 30 minutes until the driver is due could mean right now.
@Voltan was pulling my hair out because of that data transfer not working (which I actually remember having the same problem when I moved to PS4 pro). People online say if you have too many games, video, saves, it can fail... I just tried to transfer about 80Gb of save data, all games were on separate SSD, but that data transfer would not work.... had to back up / restore with USB...
@evan23 yes, both USB drive and internal SSD, just swap them over, connect to PSN and voilà ! did it yesterday
@Rich33 those comment on that article saved me yesterday ^_^ thanks for that !
@Kalime78 try anything that uses PSSR. It’s every game for me. Also a Reddit thread above I posted has recorded the noise.
@Orochilocka just had the chance to try Forbidden West, but I'll try more this weekend... you're getting me worried ^_^
@Kalime78
You are very welcome.
i spent an hour on the phone with Sony, with their rep telling me in the end he didnt think there was another way round the transfer.
And if the other guy hadnt said what he did on the pushsquare transfer article about backup/ restore freezing for 5mins at a time i would have thought that wasnt working too.
A reddit article suggested it may be due to high amount of media (ie specifically screenshots / self made videos), not games, and i also read somewhere it may be old launch PS5's. I had both.
Waiting for PS6 to see if the actual upgrade will be worth it.
I find myself more interested for what Nintendo are cooking up for 'Switch 2'
nope, only picked up a stock PS5 for the first time 2 weeks ago!
I'm sticking with my original PS5 and I hope this doesn't mean developers get lazy when making games for it.
I do find it hilarious how many people are replaying games they've already beaten just because they're now a bit shinier. Sony really have become the new Apple when it comes to pulling the wool over people's eyes.
@Rich33 yeah, same here, launch PS5, hundreds of games (moved by SSD but meaning tons of saves and videos on the internal memory). My old PS5 also had 200GB of that weird "other Storage" (after I transferred all games to SSD, and basically left no game on the internal SSD), so me thinks the launch PS5 drive is probably super corrupt ^_^
@Sweetz "There should be no 30fps mode in Pro games."
There is no such thing as a 'pro game'. All games must run on a base PS5 and therefore modes appropriate for the base console should always be present.
Many games that have received updates will have extra modes for pro users, but they will never remove the options needed to run properly on a base unit.
I'll get one at some point but don't really feel he need atm. Especially as I've going down hr PC gaming route more and more
Nope, I know better than spending $700.00 on barely an upgrade with mostly remasters of PS4 games.
Perhaps one day when it drops to $299.99
@LowDefAl It's just so much pain when you have little time, and then you lose hours because something as simple as this doesn't work ^_^
with three boys playing on the same console, I couldn't rely on PS+ for the game saves (I'm not going to pay for 4 subscriptions ^_^). And my kids were not willing to jeopardize their amazing Fortnite videos (sarcasm), so had no choice then relying on the USB method to transfer videos (~20GB) and saves (~60GB). I'm glad now because that 200Gb of "Other" storage I had on the launch PS5 has not carried over to Pro with this method.
Anyway, enjoy the weekend with your shiny new toy !
@Kalime78 hope it doesn’t happen to you but I returned my console this morning. Luckily it was off the high street so no quibbles. But I am totally bummed out about it.
@Orochilocka to maybe ease your mind, my original digital PS5 had pretty bad coil whine for a while, and then one day it didn't and I totally forgot about it ever having it until now.
Did you get it replaced? Or just return it?
I've noticed the fan running on my pro, but it is kind of a reassuring calming fan noise, and it sucks in the cool air at a really good rate, it seems.
@Kalime78 @LowDefAl
Games / Apps - the amount involved was very low as i had maxed out my M2 drive to save time.
Media (screenshots / capture videos) - approx 30Gb
Saved data - approx 10Gb
When I tried to transfer, I got to the page where it allows you to select your old console for transfer, I selected it, pressed the power button on the old console for 1s til it beeped, then it said 'please wait' for 10mins and then told me it couldnt continue - i couldnt get to the page asking what items you want to transfer.
@LowDefAl so yours worked after deleting all Saved data from your old console (and using the cloud back ups) - interesting - the reddit article I read said the exact same but it was Media they deleted to get it to work, not saves - something i didnt want to do really. Maybe it is something to do with total amount or size of Saves + Media (Captures).
@Kalime78 200Gb of "Other" - good grief. Mine was in the high 40's i think, and I thought that was high. Recording long videos, even if you delete them seems to increase the amount.
@Ravix the fan was actually pretty nice on the Pro, but the whine was so loud I could hear it with the TV, and it was driving me mad. So I took it back this morning. Fired up my base PS5 again and it’s pretty much silent; no whine. Annoying, was enjoying how it all looks on the Pro but that noise was way too much.
@Orochilocka did you not try another Ps5 Pro? Like I say, it might be a one off or just something the only happens for a while like with my base PS5 which had coil whine and then one day was silent for the rest of time.
@Ravix I’ve tried three, two of my friends have the exact same thing. We’ve all returned them unfortunately. Will wait a few months and see if it settles/monitor the reports.
Nope. Waiting on the PS6. What the Pro offers doesn't move the needle for me, even if it was the exact same price as the regular one.
@Orochilocka okay, that's a shame, but it might be something that resolves itself in time, at least.
@Ravix fingers crossed! If it does: I’ll pick it up again. The performance was brilliant but I’ve never been so deflated on a release. The sound was louder than my TV unfortunately.
Went to Walmart this morning to pick one up. App says it's in stock at the store. I get to the store and the employee is on a personal call. I ask him if they have PS5 Pro. He says yes, but I have to buy it online. I tell him that the app says it's available in store. He says yes, but it has to be purchased online.
I stand there, purchase it online, they take my money. But now I have to wait till 1 PM (4 hours from time of purchase) until I can pick it up. What kind of nonsense is that?!
Got the PS5 Pro for $400, I traded in my PS5 for $300 off the new console.
@JohnKarnes Similar to what I did. Bought my with a 10% discount and got it for $673. Sold my PS5 to my niece for $350. And got an update from Walmart that they'll have to ship mine out so they bumped $25 off the price. Around $300 net for my console.
Works out great because my niece was gonna buy a PS5 anyway. She'd have paid $400 for a base model. With mine, she gets 2 controllers, an upgraded 2TB SSD, and I let her keep my profile on the unit so she can play some of my games when she wants. Saved us both some cash.
Where's the "help me I'm poor" option?
Smyths got 15 pros per store, and a few big stores got more.
Do a store pick up request and you'll see most shops still have about 12 left...
There was no fomo to pre-order for me..
But I would have liked the numbered limited edition, not gonna lie
If it was $100-$150 cheaper I'd have been tempted (aka PS4 Pro price). But nah, my pesos aren't infinite so I'll be waiting for the Switch 2.
Maybe get one a few years down the line in a sale and maybe more new games? looking forward to that.
That's not the definition of poor, lol.
Nope. 700 hundred quid (904 Dollars) is a joke for a hardware downgrade. I could buy an Asus Rog Ally X for that much, which I don't own. I'm honestly not sure if I'll ever buy this pro. Which is a shame because I always buy upgrade consoles. The PS2 slim, all 3 PS3 versions and PS4 and PS4 pro were all purchased by me. But here I honestly feel Sony are taking the p*ss. I'm getting that 'arrogant no one is in our league so we'll do what we want' vibe from them just like the PS3 when it launched
I'm sorry Sony are hard up for cash with Japan's struggling economy, thanks for offer, but I'll decline. If I had the spare £700 to invest, I'd be able to buy a PS5, digital, a decent monitor, or TV, a good sound bar with sub woofer, and still cash left over!
I ordered last night. On Very.com.
20% off for new customers and 1 year BNPL so you can clear balance anytime within the year without interest.
Took £140 off the price. They had a deal with disc drive too saving £5, looks like they are due in at the end on November.
I really don't get the Pro. For the same price, I can get top of the range Steam Deck and change. I'm happy with my base PS5 and gaming PC. Why bother?
The only thing that would tempt me is an exclusive "Pro only" Bloodborne Remaster. Sony really has lost the plot.
I love my PS5, but there's no way I would ever drop 700.00 on a console, for that price I would jump to PC where I could have the best of all gaming worlds, a long with the ability to upgrade my hardware as it advances.
