OK, I know this is a year old, but I'm looking to upgrade my base game disc PS4 Ghost of T to the PS5 GoT Directors Cut, and this is the most confusing thing I've ever seen. I have "something" in my cart that is $19.99 on sale for $9.99, which is what I thought I wanted, but it doesn't really say.
Here are all the upgrade options on PS page. It's a lot, but no prices.
There is also something on sale in the store for $19.99 down from $29.99, which looks like you can buy the entire PS5 DC of the game on sale for $29.39. Which has me thinking I should just throw out my PS4 disc and buy the thing digital on PS5 so at least I know what I have. 🤑
So, anybody know if I do spend $9.99 to buy whatever it is in my cart what that gets me? And if it is just the Iki Island DLC - don't know why DLC is called Directors Cut but whatever 🤷♂️ - how much would it cost under the current Black Friday sale to up grade my PS4 DC version to a PS5 DC version, or do I have to pay the $9.99 to find out? Stupid Sony. 😝
Oh, I'm in the US, current confusing sale prices, my $19.99 offer on sale for $9.99 isn't even listed on the page, but it is in my cart.🙄
@MatthewJP Yeah thanks. I finally decided that is probably what it was after I nearly pulled the trigger. Which raises the question, if I spend the $9.99 what does it then cost to get the PS5 version?
OK, according to this article from March maybe I can't actually upgrade to the PS5 version at any cost. 🤑
After reading this I guess I'll just pay the $9.99 for the $19.99 whatever and screw it, whatever it is it is, no more $ from me for GoT, DC or otherwise.
You do make a good point though, I should stop buying games. And buying a game digitally after I already own it on disc would be excessive. Appreciate the reply though. 😎

@rjejr I was half kidding / half serious. There is a certain satisfaction in owning a thing and knowing it can be used in perpetuity. I’ve come to the conclusion that I very rarely go back and play games again, so for me I’m gradually adopting the gaming service mentality. But I still buy and own plenty of games, physically and digitally.
But I have the same situation with GoT. Bought the disc on PS4, played and loved it, and now still need to play the Iki Island DLC. I went ahead and sold back my PS4 disc though, so I recouped money to use toward PS+ sub. Did the same with my PS4 FF7R disc and my Death Stranding disc. I already played the FF7R DLC through PS+, so now I need to play Iki Island that way, and maybe replay the Director Cut of DS. I offloaded several other games that are on the service too.
I’m glad to have a disc drive PS5 so I have the option to buy on release and flip it later for a little cash back if I want, since these blasted “Director Cuts” and “Extended Editions” seems to happen more often than not.

@Th3solution "since these blasted “Director Cuts” and “Extended Editions” seems to happen more often than not."
Well since I bought HFW yesterday I'm sure that $30 DLC will be announced Friday. 😝 Season passes do keep me form buying games like Mario V Rabbis as I wait a year for the Rayman DLC when the game will be $20 b/c Ubisoft. I did buy the Xnoblade Chronicle's 3 dlc even though that won't be out until next Christmas for some reason. Oh yeah I had $25 credit and 500 gold points so I emptied my account. 🤷♂️
Best part about a disc drive PS5 for me is all the games I borrow out of the library for free. Problem is I can't play most games in a week, don't have the time, but I still borrow some.
Oh, and I knew you half were joking by the 😝 so no worries. Rental subscriptions are a thing, they should be accounted for.

Not that anyone cares, but to complete my original train of thought...
I purchased the $19.99 thing for $9.99 so now I have Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut PS4 version on my PS5 (PS4 disc required) and Sony is still asking for $9.99 for the Japanese lip sync PS5 update. Everything I've read on PS tells me it isn't worth the additional $9.99 to upgrade so I'll just play what I got. 🤷♂️

@rjejr Hey! I care! I was going to make a similar post and you saved me from that lol. I'm looking at the page on my PS5 right now, and it says $19.79 (down from $29.99)for the Directors Cut PS5 Upgrade (Disc Required) and another purchase option of $29.39 (down from $69.99) for what seems to be the digital PS5 version of the game with the director's cut. I have so many great backlogged games though, so I'm just going to push this purchase till next year when it'll hopefully be on sale for $10 lol
